  1. Not even close. They did the same thing with Hamilton, it's just to promote social media for the league.
  2. Irving isn't even doing things the way he was last year at this point. His level of coverage has dropped off significantly.
  3. Seems like a reasonable question to me. If you are tweeting that his coverage is terrible then you must know what you'd rather see. Silence would be better than bragging about doing nothing. But since you asked ... what would I like to see? Any emphasis on a particular area compared to other days or weeks? They're there every day, they must notice trends (if they were actually watching of course) Kohlert is back from injury after a long layoff - how does he look? Any brace or wrap? Does he look like he's struggling with anything or is he a full go? Paul Friesen just wrote a huge column blasting the Bombers for letting Willy play so soon after a concussion but I've never heard any comments on how he looks - which in this case, I will assume means he looks great because if he didn't, no doubt Friesen would be jumping at the opportunity to say we're mishandling things. Da'rel Scott and Patrick Neufeld just started practicing again this week - what units are they lining up with? Are they seeing any work with the first or second units. Injury updates on Nate Collins or Troy Stoudermire - Stoudermire especially is in that zone where he could be back soon and yet, we haven't heard anything. There was apparently a new guy working with the RB / REC crews last week occasionally - any update on if he's still there or who he is? Is JFG still running with the 1s or are Richards/Bastien stealing any reps after JFG's rough Thursday? Just a start. One of those would be amazing.
  4. Expecting sports journalists to be as passionate about the home team as the most overzealous fanatic is just unreasonable. Maybe someone got into sports writing because they love hockey, but the paper has them covering football. It's not their fault and you can't fake passion. I think the major point was already summed up quite early in this thread. Who else here can say that they would be welcome to go on social media during their work day and gloat about how much work they're not doing?
  5. Tweets from our media at practice yesterday. Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB Bombers practiced today--looked good. That's all I got!!! Paul Friesen re-tweeted that and then sent out the following... Paul Friesen @friesensunmedia What he said. Tweets from our media today. Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB Blue bombers looking sharp in practice--we are talking about "practice". That's all I got today. Paul Friesen @friesensunmedia The #Bombers are practicing again. And I'm watching. Sort of. ... Am I the only one irritated by this garbage? It's one thing for them to do an awful job of covering the practices that they're assigned to, but when they get to the point where they're openly mocking it ... it just annoys me.
  6. He's 28 years old and has 1 year of arena football under his belt after taking a 3 or 4 year break from the game out of college. Hardly anything worth getting upset about.
  7. I still think it's absolute garbage that they'll send out a press release that a player or coach has been fined, even when it's an undisclosed amount for an undisclosed infraction but they won't do the same for a referee. The level of immunity referees get in professional sports is atrocious. They're out there in the public eye doing a job, same as everyone else. If they suck at it and they blow a call, they shouldn't avoid the scrutiny and if that makes them quit - too damn bad. No room in the game for referees who think they're untouchable anyways.
  8. Westerman has looked fine to me, especially for a Canadian on the end. He's getting pressure, he's draw a few holding penalties I think as well. Like mentioned above, he's disrupting the line of scrimmage and creating havoc. It's not his fault if the guys around him can't capitalize on that. If he flushes the QB out of the pocket and pursues him without allowing him to bolt upfield, is it his fault if the coverage behind him breaks down and the QB completes a throw?
  9. if I recall, the ref was staring right at the QB and Willy clearly reacted to the hit to his face. I'd say that the ref saw it and simply felt it wasnt a penalty because of the positioning of all involved. That's not his decision to make. Helmet to helmet = penalty. Intent doesn't matter at all. Oh I agree. I just think thats why no one threw a flag. They were flat wrong. But I dont think they "missed it" it as much as they didnt know they should call it. I really hope you're wrong, because claiming ignorance to the rules is a lot worse than claiming you "missed" the call.
  10. I don't know if you're complimenting Bucknor or criticizing the others, but Bucknor has been pretty bad from what I've seen. Durant and Glenn picked on him over and over in week 1 and he's been making Chris Randle's job a lot harder.
  11. I actually find coming on the forums during lousy seasons makes it more tolerable. Even watching the chat during games, the amount of bitching, whining and just terrible attitudes usually makes me feel like bomber fans don't deserve a win, even if it's the same handful of people every week, they do a great job of making me not care that the bombers lost.Yea I know what you mean we should all gather here in the forums after a loss and sing praise of hope and joy throw in a few kumbyas to boot. Just to be worthy of a bomber winning season. Nobody is saying that - what they're saying is that there are a handful of people around here with their post counts on the lower side who must be under the impression we shut this website down for a week after a win.
  12. Feel for Durie, you have to imagine his career is over.
  13. Don't know why more teams aren't going for the 2 - all you have to do is operate at a 51% clip for it to be more beneficial than going for 1 (assuming those are automatic, which they aren't) As said earlier in this thread, Marve/Cotton/Marshall could operate at a much higher clip than that. If O'Shea suddenly woke up tomorrow and decided he was ALWAYS going to go for 2, I would not be upset.
  14. I have to agree. Concussion protocols are almost laughably poor. I'm not saying Willy was knocked out or has a concussion, but there is still a ton of work to be done in the field of brain injuries and concussion awareness. Anyone in here making definitive statements about head injuries or concussion protocols is simply trying to make themselves seem more knowledgeable than they actually are. The medical community at large is still looking for answers, they certainly don't exist on a football forum. Willy took a hard shot to the head and it was enough that the medical pros felt it necessary to hold him out of the game. What do you have to lose by holding him our for a week? A football game. What does he have to lose by throwing him back in too early? His mental health, quality of life, and a myriad of other concerns related to concussions. This is why I would err on the side of caution. The risk-reward just doesn't make sense. Again, not saying he has a concussion and not saying the team is being irresponsible. But if it was me in charge, it would be no play for 2 weeks after the last symptom or, if there were no symptoms, the initial hit. No exceptions. What's the significance of 14 days compared to 8, in your opinion?
  15. When you ran him through the medical protocol, what signs did you see that bothered you?
  16. You're missing one important piece to that puzzle - they wouldn't let him anywhere near the field even to be a decoy if it was as serious as people thought it was.
  17. Glenn was NOT why they lost. He was absolutely outstanding yesterday having the best performance of any QB so far this season with almost 500 yards. Also, that interception was on Taj Smith. Instead of actually running towards the ball, he basically stood there. One of the main reason we lost was defence. Couldn't make a tackle to save their lives and allowed too many big plays. Considering just how close the game was, less big plays may have given us the win. Glenn will be a great leader for us going forward. If we don't finish well this year, it will be because of defence, not quarterbacking, and this would have been a problem even if Durant hadn't gotten injured. That performance was not even close to the best performance of the year by a QB. Drew Willy and Trevor Harris both played far better in Week 1 and I would argue Trevor Harris played better than Glenn did yesterday as well, you could even argue Cato did against Calgary as well.
  18. Yep, read that book before. Had the game ready for the tie and then throws a brutal pass to a wide open Getz.
  19. lol as if I picked Montreal.
  20. That scoreboard irritates me to no end.
  21. I would imagine Cronk sits out with Tyler this week.
  22. I'm going to go with Andrew Harris as well. strike that, I'm going with Cotton.
  23. Veltung, Marshall, Shell and one of the DL. Tyler and a NI will sit, probably Brown or Morgan. Both the DL - 8 Canadians means 5 backup Americans
