  1. Bottom line to me is that the old laws (distracted driving etc.) were about safety and the no-cellphone laws are about revenue generation. Cops pretending to be beggars at stop lights really hit this home. And I've never been ticketed for either. I know someone who got out of a ticket by doing this. Said the reason she was holding her phone was because she was worried the panhandler aggressively knocking on her window was trying to break in and she was preparing to call 911. Judge threw the ticket out, even with the cop in attendance.
  2. Shows just how watered down the Canadian OL talent pool is getting around the league. Well exactly.. If they couldn't stick here... The worst oline in almost the past decade.. It's sad to imagine they get looks (even tfc type ones) elsewhere.. Guess a body is a body for a Dlineman to tee off on.. When your problem was injury, not talent (like it is with both Swiston and Pencer) then you're going to get multiple looks at a high demand, low supply position. I think Swiston has a chance. Pencer is a write off as far as I'm concerned.
  3. So you expect Durant to step right in his rookie year and make an impact as the starting X for the Bombers? Okay. I know the easy response to this is to point out that Kito Poblah didn't pan out, but Lemar Durant is probably the most solid REC prospect the CFL has seen since Kito Poblah. Shamawd Chambers is up there too. Durant is a very solid receiver and I definitely wouldn't write him off as a potential year one starter. There are going to be a few of them in this draft and I think he's got as good a shot as any.
  4. okay. You're right. Do you feel better now?
  5. It's open to interpretation. I don't see us taking Demski though. Durant is the better prospect and I do think he suits the mold of what we're looking for better.
  6. I'm totally not opposed to picking Lemar Durant at number 2 if available.
  7. Love his thought process, don't see it shaking out that way but hey, it's draft talk.
  8. The potential for deterioration from Buff is valid. He's going to age quicker than many players. But he can still bring so much that isn't reliant on his athleticism.
  9. They don't need two import tailbacks unless one of them serves another purpose (a fullback type, a kick returner, etc)
  10. You can have prospects, but you pay a guy like Buff. You need your veterans. I'd get rid of Ladd long before I got rid of Buff. Buff is our identity.
  11. If Sheets comes here he will be the primary back, he's proven. Not anymore he's not. And that's what the concern is. He's a 30 year running back who played VERY well in his last stint in pro ball. But he's coming off a torn Achilles (which does heal strong) and he hasn't played ball in a year after being in NFL shape instead of CFL shape. If that's proven, I don't know what unproven is.
  12. Can't see the need for Sheets here. MAYBE he can carve out a role as a change of pace back. He's got reliable enough hands, but he isn't different enough from Cotton to warrant it here. It's not like he's a Stef Logan type who extended his career by becoming a complimentary back.
  13. ... you'll have one on the practice roster. So easily two on the roster at any given time. If not three. And Cotton isn't going anywhere.
  14. I think we could handle the Moose for a year or so, but not much longer. Great timing though, because the influx of talent coming through the affiliate (wherever it is) is going to be insane. Morrissey, Armia, Petan, Copp, Hellebuyck, Comrie, Glover, de Leo, etc etc
  15. Brett Connolly broke his hand today in practice too
  16. Bombers should sign Swordless Mimetown
  17. Classic Winnipeg construction.
  18. In a one for one swap, there isn't a single player that isn't tradeable for Connor McDavid on the Jets roster. That's not opinion. It's just fact. There are maybe (MAYBE!) ten players in the entire league that wouldn't get traded straight up for McDavid. Saying you wouldn't trade Blake Wheeler for Connor McDavid is like saying you wouldn't have traded Miroslav Satan for Sidney Crosby way back when.
  19. Any rugby fans out there? Always wanted to develop an interest in it, don't really know where to start. TV channels I can watch it on? Streams online? When are the games live? What league should I watch? What am I even watching? School me.
  20. The next few years will be interesting in Saskatchewan. They haven't positioned themselves very well.
  21. To whoever said they'd like Garbutt on the Jets - no thanks. I don't care if he's a local boy, he's one of the biggest dickrags in the NHL.
  22. Always thought Klingberg was horrible. This deal is essentially a free Stempniak for me, and I love it. Chevy took advantage of NYR making that Yandle deal and found a way to allow it to benefit us. Awesome.
  23. Nobody is untradeable, but the three toughest guys to part with for me would be Trouba, Ehlers and Byfuglien. For the first overall pick in this year's draft? I'd trade anyone.
  24. Meh, still could see him by September.
  25. Didn't notice Maxx Forde was on the list now. Must have skipped over that the first time. That's a huge addition to the draft class. I'm not going to say he's a lock for top 10 at this point because there's a ton of talent, but he's up there. Alondra Johnson's kid is a LB for the University of South Dakota, he'll probably get a combine invite too because he just got approved for Canadian status.
