But he is more than a returner. Which is the point. He is an excellent multi dimensional player with the stats to back it up. I dont like the silliness either to to fluff him off as an average player who's being overrated is assinine. IMO (and it pains me to say this, because the Bombers had Lawrence and let him go last year) Kendial Lawrence is easily a more talented player than Banks. Total combined yardage last year was 1968 for Banks, 1819 for Lawrence. Give Banks the advantage until you see that Banks put up 1968 in 16 games. Lawrence put up 1819 in an astounding 9 games. That's over 200 yards a game. But nobody cares about Lawrence because he weighs more than 150 pounds and doesn't whine like a little brat.

wait, you want to fundraise to send someone else to Florida for a weekend? Personally, if it meant we actually got some decent coverage, I'd be happy to flip a few bucks every month for the next year to send somebody to go. Even if it's you.

"I base my posts 100% off facts and logic" Lol

If Brandon Banks was six feet tall, nobody would talk about him as much as they do. Sure, he can break the big one. So can a lot of guys. He knows how to market himself though, that's for sure. He's no better than guys like Kendial Lawrence and Troy Stoudermire in the return game.

Doesn't fly with me. Should have nothing to do with the Jets. It's not like the Free Press opted to not send anyone. They sent their regular Bombers beat writer and he did his regular terrible job.

Stuff I would have loved to have known from mini camp -- The Bombers held an open tryout on the day before mini camp at IMG and it was reported they moved 6 players from that tryout to mini camp. Who were they? -- Who have they already signed that was there that looked rough and might be out of a contract? -- Why were guys like Jarrid Bryant and Nate Collins, who are CFL rookies under contract, not present? -- Did either of the 2 new quarterbacks do ANYTHING to earn a shot in training camp? There wasn't a single mention of them in any article. -- These defensive backs or receivers that were impressive sound nice. Do we get to know anything about them other than that they caught the ball or kept someone from catching the ball? Are they slots or wideouts? Corners or halfbacks? Instead we get absolute ****ing nonsense like this article. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/bombers-impressed-with-new-talent-300892861.html?cx_navSource=d-tiles-1 Look at the headline. "Bombers impressed with new talent" Now read the entire first part prior to the page break. Literally no mention of a single player, although somehow Wiecek managed to reference Maria Sharapova, talk about breakfast, the cafeteria and Dodgertown. If you managed to make it past then THEN you get some information on the individual talents out of mini camp, almost entirely pieced together from other articles. If this was Ed Tait going down there, we'd be spoiled with an entire listing of the mini camp roster, who stood out good and bad by position, a background on each player and probably much more. Seriously such a joke.

He's such a clown.

BC with the lowball but yet again, Desjardins continues to bid against himself. Probably could've had him for something around 180k realistically.
-
You'll get more from a goalie prospect though. Morissey for Eberle wouldn't be close to getting it done. Eberle is a proven player already, Morissey isn't. Morrissey for Eberle is probably a lot closer than we think. But I agree we have to add.

Errrr yeah we would

I sure hope the team doesn't bank on Derrell Johnson like we are. We need at least one or two more guys that aren't on the roster today to push that spot in camp. Really drives me nuts how poor the coverage of mini camp was. Would love to know the type of perspective we get from fans who go to mini camp, not just quotes from coaches and stuff. Who looked good? Who didn't? Irving has a good eye for that stuff but my god, I think Wiecek has written about 6 articles in 3 days and I can't say there's even an ounce of football analysis in them. But if you want to hear about how the players got screwed out of breakfast, he's worth a read. We should send somebody to mini camp next year.

No way in hell would I want Marcus Henry.
-
Ladd may have played his heart out and given it an A+ effort last night but he also played like dog **** the entire series, effort excluded.
-
Very impressive move by them to bring him in. But I can't help but wonder ... how is Desjardins going to have screwed this up? Between Price, Jackson, Williams, Ellingson and Sinopoli ... how are they going to afford to keep this together for more than a year?
-
I want Stempniak and Stafford back. Could go either way on Frolik. Don't need Tlusty back. Aside from that, I'm not opposed to letting Byfuglien walk at this point. He's had a brutal series and I think the team is building an identity without him. I've characterized him as the "face" of the aggressive identity of the Jets, but I don't think he is anymore. I could go either way on him. I want to see them make room for Ehlers at this point. Not sure what else.

I wonder if Wiecek ever takes a look in the mirror and asks himself why the Winnipeg media doesn't get respect from the football club. I bet you Drew Edwards would be allowed to interview the assistants here. I bet you Scott Mitchell would too. I feel bad for Penton. He deserves respect that he probably doesn't get because of guys like Wiecek.
-
Can't even give the guy the respect of having his name printed in the papers correctly. Not even a typo. His name is Derrell Johnson, not Derrell Jackson.

Kurt Goodrich leaves Bomber camp & quits football
Mike replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
But will they want him then? Serious questions on his character now and whether he could be trusted if he decided he wanted to play again. You might be right. I imagine telling O'Shea in particular "my hearts not in it" was not a wise career move. lucky for him he has a very forgiving passport -
Wolf actually tried out in the NFL as a wideout too. He's a pretty mobile guy. Robinson was on Hamilton's PR last year.

GM role is more about choosing wisely when you pick your supporting cast.

Eddie Russ ... Interesting.
-
Interesting. The one thing I will say is that Molstad is silly for bringing up the NFLPA. What bearing does that have on anything?
-
Didn't they announce this guy a week ago?

Without anything to go off of other than highlight tapes and online scouting reports ... I'd say our recruiting class thus far looks solid, not spectacular, although it appears lacking in a few areas. I know we always need pass catchers and I like Clemons a lot and to some extent, I'm intrigued by Hector and Logan. The group of linebackers has a lot of healthy competition but other than Wright and Benton, I'm not wowed. Seems like we have a lot of competition for the secondary which puzzles me as our depth there is solid, although with the new rules, maybe they are looking for guys more equipped to play that style. There's always the possibility that guys like Jarrid Bryant and Keon Lyn are here for the SAM competition as well - that seems fairly likely. The one spot I'm really disappointed in thus far is the rush end spot. We only have two bodies there to challenge Vega and Peach. I'm really hoping we bring a boatload to mini camp and move a couple more onto the main camp because we sure as hell need them.

We really need more competition at rush end.
