  1. you can't develop a QB without giving him playing time. If it wasn't for Brohm getting injured last year, Marve probably wouldn't have seen the field at all. That's absolutely false. Especially in the CFL. Care to explain that golden nugget of knowledge, Mike? Drew Tate is a perfect example, although you can easily blame Saskatchewan for letting him go. They sat him on the practice roster for two years before he ever took a snap and he was much more effective with his initial repetitions because of it. Darian Durant is another one. In his first two seasons in the CFL, how many snaps did he take? Two. Same with Mike Reilly - two snaps in his first two seasons. I bet if you were to ask them how much more comfortable they felt because of their time developing without game reps, they'd tell you it sucked to not play but it was well worth it. An American QB is coming to a league where there's a wider field and an extra man, among other things. It's invaluable for a QB to be able to get a chance to soak it all in. Let them work out their kinks in practice reps. Ideally, I wouldn't have my developmental QB take much more than a handful of reps for his first two years. It doesn't always work out that way because of injuries, etc but that'd be the goal. Too many QBs ruined because they get rushed.

  3. Based on what information? He means SSK is
  4. Riders out of Curran sweepstakes, according to Vanstone.
  5. What on earth makes him seem cocky to you? The fact that he said med school was a serious option for him? That's not cocky, that's honest.
  6. Cornish is good but I want to see him get the yards w/o Jones and Bryant. IMO....he won't. Lavertu is a stud. They won't skip a beat at center. Craighead's back at guard & Harrison is no slouch at tackle. He's started plenty of games in the past. The Stamps OL has lost some depth but their starting 5 is still very, very good. I don't care how good Lavertu is, he's not an equal replacement for Jones.
  7. You're both right, he was healthy for half the year.
  8. Gimme Matt Calvert, Daniel Winnik or Sean Bergenheim in that order.
  9. He's a free agent. Still don't understand with the stunt he pulled on us why Walters was so nice & didn't release him a day later so he couldn't have signed with anyone. Maybe he was thinking about doing something to make Wpg a more appealing place to come to for players. Maybe but how is that making Winnipeg a more appealing place? This is a business & not a social club. He quit on us, remember? Winning changes everything. So does not being an ******* just because one of your players is. Take the high road.
  10. Bobby Pospischil apparently declared for the NFL Draft, meaning he's CFL Draft eligible as well. No way he goes to the NFL, if you ask me. Good CFL pick though.
  11. We're going to have a rookie at SAM or WIL In my opinion, so hopefully we spring for experience in the middle
  12. Rennie Curran.
  13. Ups the bidding vs two division rivals who would be getting an all-star MLB
  14. Funny that you didn't unleash this same logic in the Glenn thread. Because we're talking inexperienced rookies at qb in the Glenn thread. We had experienced OL & they still sucked. Asking a rookie qb with limited experience to carry the team on his back if he has to is just asking for trouble. So apples to oranges. Ummm, no. He's suggesting that these experienced O linemen might not live up to expectactions. That their performance might not be all that we're hoping for. Which is the same sort of logic that could be applied to Glenn, that maybe he wouldn't be the savior of the season if he played. Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread, but the irony was just too good to pass up. In reality though, a QB is a QB. The success of an OL is based on the sum of many moving parts.
  15. That being said it's not a slight on Walters. Realistically, he's provided us with the best scenario we could have hoped for going forward. He's set the team up for massive success, they just need to put it in motion.
  16. They'll be better but I'm not labeling them top anything until they show something as a unit, not just individuals
  17. I agree. But sadly until Toronto gets their **** together, this is what we'll probably have to work with.
  18. On the 4 day weeks, I believe each one, the game at the end of the 4 days is a home game, so at least you get in a couple practices; no travel day like last year where these 4 day weeks the game was on the road. 2 out of the 3, the first game is in the evening though, which means they're not likely flying home until the following day. So I'm guessing there's still a travel day. It's just not the day before the game. Either way, all things considered, 3 tough scheduled games out of 18 isn't bad. Plenty of worse things that we could be faced with.
  19. Probably no need for him if they don't plan to play a Canadian there? Still a curious move.
  20. Brock Jensen in the CFL, eh? Curious to see how he pans out, I've been hearing Joey talk about him for what, 3 or 4 years now? lol
  21. I really hope we bring in David Lee.
  22. Huge. Two late season games against Ottawa? Yes please.
  23. WPG-SSK June 27th.
  24. LOL at the CFL expecting 10,000 social media mentions before they release the schedule Epic backfire. They're going to have to pad their numbers or we're going to be waiting until March. BTW - 95% sure the season opener is on the road in Saskatchewan.
  25. I suspect he's already been told theyre moving on. Lawless' article the other day said as much.
