  1. My friend was telling me a story the other day when he took a trip to watch the Chiefs play. Their van stopped at Walmart in Rockford and I guess somehow they got on the topic of Canada with the checkout lady. She said to them "hey that's cool, I used to live in Canada!" and when they asked where ... she said ... "North Dakota!"
  2. Hmmm ... so Benevides still an option too, eh? Interesting.
  3. Nowhere near enough credit for a guy like Bucknor ... he played great for us last year. Great? No let's not get delusional here. He was adequate. You bring the guy back for sure but let's not pretend the team wouldn't have continued along just fine without him. For a Canadian on the corner, he was great. Would we be worse off if he left? Yes.
  4. Of the three ... I think I'd want Claybrooks, Hall or Miles in that order. Claybrooks really intrigues me because if O'Shea wanted Stubler last year, he's probably going to be interested in the guy's understudy. That being said, a lot of talk floating around that Claybrooks is pretty set on staying in Calgary. If I was a betting man, I'd say we end up with Hall.
  5. Didnt you say you would retain him if you were the Bombers? I probably would have. But there were valid arguments on either side of the fence. I'm just happy I don't have to hear about it anymore.
  6. Fantastic.

  8. Anyone else hear these rumors that Burmistrov is in Winnipeg? And Budaj is on his way there? I wonder what that's about.
  9. I agree.. As the team that has, without a doubt, the worst canadian talent depth in the land... We simply cannot afford to kick players to the curb and hope to replace them.. We need to keep them around in case we don't land a better LB/DB to play teams or OL to push the guys currently rostered.. In an ideal world, sure we will replace the backup backups etc with better talent but one never knows.. If that means keeping them on the roster a bit longer, so be it.. I don't necessarily believe that to be true either. We have the worst top end Canadian talent in the league, but as far as depth goes, we got a lot more out of our backend guys than most teams would.
  10. I'm not saying they need to have their roles back, I'm saying there's room for them somewhere. Guys like West, Thomas and Lucas serve purposes. Maybe we can bump them down the depth chart but not off the roster entirely. Same with the OL.
  11. Turning over 50% of our Can-con is a sure recipe for failure. Besides ... Newman, Sherman, JFG, Kohlert, Watson, Bucknor, Jones, Briggs, Pontbriand, Goossen, Neufeld, Greaves, Hajrullahu, Thomas, Lucas, Morley, West ... That's 17 guys right there and while they're not all "stars" you can certainly find roles for them on a roster.
  12. No you don't!
  13. I'm confused by this. Today is the 16th? And I wouldn't automatically say a 2nd year backup 4th rounder would necessarily get a bonus. But what's the significance of the 15th? Someone posted or tweeted that Dec 15 is the date where contracts must be signed if the team wants that bonus money to count towards the current years cap.And here's what Cameron told me on Twitter: @Darren_Cameron: @garrettbillan1 appreciate it. And yes, it was done by Dec 15. Oh cool. You learn something every day. Thanks!
  14. We could literally change 10% of the 44 man roster and become a championship contender. The volume of the moves isn't what matters. It's the quality of the moves they do make.

  16. Would imagine this one had very little to do with using existing cap space. Probably just hammering out an extension on a guy they wanted to keep.
  17. Official as per Bombers Twitter account. Length of deal not disclosed.
  18. How realistic is an emergency call up for Morrissey?
  19. Impossible to say as of right now. I think anything, including moving down in the draft, is possible.
  20. http://www.tsn.ca/standout-sfu-wr-durant-declares-for-cfl-nfl-draft-1.160447 Old, but slightly more official now. Durant to Ottawa anyone?
  21. Sorry, if that was happening or not happening, it would be something our CEO would announce publicly. But I love the rampant speculation! Rampant is what we do. Yes, I see that... in droves. Let me rephrase the question, because I'm mildly curious. Do you know (either way) the answer to my question? Kim, be very careful before (if) answering this question. LOL. Don't worry about me, I didn't fall off the turnip truck last night. And as such, my participation in this thread shall end. But I do look forward to the iron-clad declarations of what my silence means... I know that's also a popular topic around here. It can only mean one thing. We've traded EJ Kuale for Ben Heenan.
