Bombers add Cam Marshall and Deantre Harlan to PR

RB Cameron Marshall and DT Deantre Harlan have been added to the PR Not familiar with Harlan, but IMO, this Marshall signing has star potential. I've followed him since I'm an Oregon fan and his younger brother plays for Oregon and he was a VERY effective running back at Arizona State. Very complete, every-down kind of back. He's got a good burst and good top end speed, he's strong enough to handle blocking responsibilities and he is a very capable receiver out of the backfield. I like it a lot.

Romby Bryant - Aaron Kelly The entire OL shuffle Bruce Johnson - Johnny Sears There have been plenty of moves O'Shea has made all year due to performance, people just don't necessarily like all of them.

Make no sense to me, Willy hasn't played well for Weeks now he hasn't earned the start based on his play other players have to sit and wait their turn but Willy gets to start based on what ? I won't be watching if Willy is playing I am done with stupid coaches starting their guy let the best players play ! Tired of Romby Bryant as well and EJ would be playing if he wasn't injured MOS neesd to learn to start his best players regardless of salary or who his favorites are... Willy IS the best QB, don't be ridiculous. Suggesting he's not is bordering on idiocy. And you base that on what the fact that Willy has been so successful this year ? Have you checked his stats his QB rating he is very much on par with Max Hall so that puts him clearly in the lead of the current group ? I am not saying he won't be good down the road I can see that Willy does have some very good qualities as a QB however that doesn't mean he is the best QB on the roster we haven't see Marve in a full game and Portis has been on the PR...so until we see them we won't know. I have been to many practices and Willy is accurate when he sees someone open however he doesn't see the entire field and recognize where to go with the ball all of the time and he takes way too many sacks because he needs to throw the ball away sometimes... I have also not been impressed with his practices many times as he has been outworked but the other QBs and to me your Starter should lead the way... Also Willy isn't very mobile. So some good things some bad... but until you see the other QBs play a full game or more you can't say who the best is... Willy needs to improve for me to be convinced he is our future he has the potential to be a very good QB down the road but at this point I am not sure he will be time will tell.... If Willy proves me wrong this week good for him and the Bombers but I am tire of waiting for Willy to turn it around...to me this season is over in terms of the playoff so lets get the other QB's some experience and see what they can do... Willy doesn't have to prove you wrong, because you haven't been proven right to begin with. This is ALWAYS how it works with fans - the backup QB is always the most popular quarterback in town. And did you just ask me to compare his stats to Max Hall? Maybe before checking if I have, you should have double checked to make sure you had before making such a silly statement. Drew Willy's 65% completion rate and 86.1 QB rating are miles ahead of Max Hall and his barely mediocre 57.2% completion rate and 75 QB rating. Not to mention anyone who has been watching the CFL this year has to account for the downward trend in QB rating because of the emphasis on pretty much anything other than passing the ball in the red zone this year. Ricky Ray is the only QB with a reasonable QB rating because guys like Drew Tate, Pat White, Tanner Marsh, Dan Lefevour and yes, even Robert Marve have been involved in a lot of short yardage work in the red zone. Not to mention quarterbacks have been a bit more mobile this year (Drew Willy included, believe it or not) and have been putting the ball in the endzone with their legs as well. All of that contributes to an overall dip in QB rating league wide this year ... not to mention the expanded roster size being devoted almost exclusively to defense has seen offense in general drop off a bit. As it stands right now, Drew Willy is a first year starting quarterback in this league surrounding by the worst protection that ANY QB has at their disposal. Despite all that, he ranks second in the CFL in passing yardage, third in completion percentage and if you'd like, I can show you a whole bunch of statistics that mean a whole hell of a lot more than an outdated one like QB rating that would tell you he's faring pretty decently, all things considered, as well. He's having a very Mike Reilly-esque first year as a starting QB, and just like Reilly last year, that doesn't translate to wins unfortunately, but just like Reilly last year, it's easy to see that Willy has all the tools to expand on his production in 2015 and continue his ascent to elite status in the CFL.
-
Some Winnipeg fans just truly are never going to be happy. I understand it didn't translate to wins this year in the first year of this new program, but we checked the most important task off our list - find a franchise QB - and still some people want to complain about him. Drew Willy is the present AND the future of this team. He's not perfect, he's going to struggle but that's all part of what it takes to allow him to develop into the best QB we've had since Khari. If you can't handle being along for the ride, that's on you not him.

Damon Allen was the best in his class exactly once in a 23 year career. That about says it all.
-
Yes he looked much better than Grigsby ever has here. I hope his play continues he was very promising in TC but did squat in the regular season up until last night. Nice to see I explained it to you many many times, you actually have to give a running back a chance to see what he can do. Cotton won the job outright in training camp, but got hurt and Grigsby had 2 good games to start the year so they didn't make a change, but Cotton was always the better runner because he was better able to slip through small holes and pick up positive yards. It was never about how many rushing yards each got, it was about one back being a ***** and the other actually being able to get positive yards from some bad situations. They actually gave him a proper chance against Calgary and he had a similar yards per carry as he did in the preseason. Least surprised guy about that is me. Now now.
-
One of the reasons he played for so many teams is because the guys backing him up were often thought to be better. He lost his job to Michael Bishop. Twice. He was smart and mobile. As a passer he left a lot to be desired. 23 seasons in the CFL - he passed for over 4,000 yards 4 times and 5,000 once. He passed for less than 3,000 yards 8 times. He was a decent combination of a game manager and a running QB. He did these things well enough to carve out a 23 year career, so no, that's far from average. It's pretty remarkable. As a passer, being average for 23 years will eventually get you to 70,000 yards. I respect him and his accomplishments, but when listing the top QBs in CFL history his name will never come to mind, and I don't think that's an oversight. Sorry, maybe not to you but to just about everyone else. You want to list the greatest quarterbacks in the CFL? Allen is up there. You want to list the BEST quarterbacks? I doubt he even cracks my top 15.
-
So you're saying you wouldn't want two bonafide CFL QBs? That'd be a dream. That's one reason Calgary has been so successful. And it's nothing against Willy; he's great. But it sure would be nice to see Brohm succeed as well. Nothing wrong with two bonafide QBs. But that doesn't necessarily mean a controversy. Look at Calgary. BLM and Tate, both legit. No controversy because the roles are defined. That's what I want here - defined roles.
-
Kind of blows me away that people would even be open to the idea of a controversy, to be honest. I think we've suffered for so long without a QB that it's like we don't want to believe we've got one. Even the elite QBs have bad days and as far as I'm concerned, Drew Willy is in the class of the future elite in this league. That doesn't mean he's going to be perfect, but it does mean he's going to be our starter for a looooong time.
-
If Willy is healthy, Brohm doesn't start. That's the story today, tomorrow and for the foreseeable future.

Unamba starting over Dunn ...

Tickets gone, thanks for playing. Go Blue
-
From what I heard yesterday, he's right. Apparently, Grigsby wasn't too popular.
-
I have some tickets to this weekend's game and I won't be using them. If anyone wants them, just let me know and I'll run through whatever the process is to send you paper copies. They're section ... 215, I think? I always forget.

Bender is such a putz.
-
Also interesting from that press conference - they cut out Friesen's stupid question at the end.
-
As for why they didn't trade Grigsby ... here's what needs to be considered Grigsby ASKED to be cut. If rival teams were asked about a trade, the answer is simple - why would they give up assets when they KNOW the Bombers will cut him today knowing they wouldn't dare risk their reputation with agents and players by cutting Grigsby AFTER today which would render him ineligible to play in the 2014 season.
-
If he's healthy, why not? He busted his butt when the team stunk. and he was really good. Other than when he quit on them.
-
I honestly have about 73 items on my desk that I would prefer as a representative of my opinion on the Bombers instead of Paul Friesen.
-
Suber revealed himself as a braindead idiot earlier this season after he tweeted about him being benched because Winnipeg didn't want to play the best players. He just happened to delete it quick enough and it happened late enough at night for nobody to pick it up and run with it. Except Grigsby ... who tripped over it and fell down before he got anywhere.
-
He was trying to be clever and imply Grigsby has the most catches on the team. But he doesn't.
