Serious question: Is this your first year following the Bombers? Because the things you are suggesting are the exact things that have doomed the Bombers to failure at the QB and Coaching spots for years. Honestly, this city might be suffering from it's worst and most irrational case of "backup QB envy" we've ever seen. We finally have a star in the making and we have multiple people clamoring to sit him for the the greenest backup we've trotted out there yet. It's like Bomber fans are addicted to throwing unproven quarterbacks into the fire and hoping for a miracle. Except this time we already have a good one! We don't have to ruin anymore young QBs people!!!! Just once we can let a young guy develop and JUST MAYBE he'll actually be ready when it's time to give him meaningful playing time. You know, like what Saskatchewan did with Drew Willy for us. Unless the plan is to keep on trying new quarterbacks until we find one who is perfect every single game. In that case, sit Willy and let's try out Marve. You're absolutely dead on. It can't have been that long that people have forgotten how this works. The backup QB envy around here, quite frankly, is disgusting and as a fan, I'm pretty embarrassed by our fanbase when they talk about this. Robert Marve, as much as I like him and think he's got the right tools in his toolbox, came into a game in garbage time and completed half his passes but ran around enough to make people stumble over themselves to hop on his bandwagon. It wasn't even that he played well, he just played DIFFERENT and people equated different to better because what Willy was doing wasn't working. It's like people have forgotten that young quarterbacks, especially those saddled with a poor supporting cast, are going to go through ups and downs. Especially when that supporting cast is allowing said young quarterback to get demolished on a weekly basis. The comparison to Joey Elliott? Embarrassing. Joey Elliott, as much as I liked him, put two quality games on his resume. Drew Willy, on the other hand, was probably the favorite to win the MOP award through the first third of the season. Two very different situations. The reality is this - Drew Willy is QB1 now and he will be QB1 next year. The point of this Saturday's game is to gain as much value from it as we can and the reps and experience for Willy are of more value to us than the reps and experience for Marve right now. If Willy was a 5 year veteran, everyone here would be right in their demands to see Marve start. But for all intents and purposes, Willy is a rookie. At least a rookie starter. He needs the reps, just like he needs to be able to be given the leash that Mike O'Shea has afforded him. Do I wish Willy had been pulled mid-game sometimes? Yeah. I get that concept, because sometimes taking a seat to collect yourself is what is needed. But with the starting job comes the first team reps in practice. The reps with your receivers, guys like Justin Wilson who need that chemistry to develop with their QB1 for next year. Going into next year on a positive note is important, but it's important to make sure it's positive all around, not just in the win column (which is basically one of the last things that matters at this point) If anyone thinks that by having Marve start this week, it means anything for next year, they're sorely mistaken. Marve could throw for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns and all it means is that the media will have some ammunition for when they conjure up their articles this offseason about a QB controversy. Willy is still QB1 going into next year, he's earned the reps, he deserves the reps and even if he's dinged up, beaten down and it ends up in a big loss for us, it's still all part of the process we need to be prepared to go through as fans. Because the end result will be a properly developed star QB. Period.

And if Marve fails miserably? Then I'll be the first to admit that he'll need to be A LOT better to unseat Willy as the starting quarterback. Willy has been awful for many games in a row now, and he deserves to sit. Simple as that. Oh and I remember when Joey Elliott was a star in the making too. Remember those player of the week honours? Drew Willy has a ton to prove yet. You just don't get it.

Moore ... Denmark ... Cotton ... Leggett ... Turner ... Anderson ... Washington ... Stoudermire ... Hajrullahu ... You know, I'm really starting to notice ... as much as people say we have homers, we sure do have a ton of gloomers as well.

Heenan & Holmes won't re-sign before free agency

Riders are going to lose someone they don't want to lose, but I'd be absolutely shocked if it was Heenan. -
Not sure if serious .......

Since the sixties? How old is your avatar?

Better chance he gets cut in the off-season when some bonus or another is due.Do you have a copy of his contract? Very good point. We should all deal in proofs and absolutes. After all, that'd leave us with ... absolutely nothing to talk about.

Fire everyone. It's the best way to ensure we continue rebuilding the reputation we had as a coaching dumpster fire. We'll surely attract awesome candidates by prematurely firing coordinators.

So who should take with the 2nd Can College draft pick?

Grey Cup discount for Bomber season ticket holders?
Mike replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Thanks for the explanation...I guess my question still is...how is anyone going to know that at this point in time? If you sign a commitment for 3 years, aren't you going to expect to be given information on what you're committing to? If they're advertising a promotion that is based on the commitment to season tickets for 2015-2017, I'd sure hope they know what they're asking from the people who sign up. -

Way too early to start projecting who will/won't be available. There's a whole list of issues to be addressed. -

You never fail to establish how dumb you are. What? It's a completely valid question, I was wondering the same thing myself. -

I don't disagree, we need to draft at least two offensive linemen. But given the track record of early round draft picks + the quantity of strong prospects at that position in this draft class ... nothing says we have to draft one with our first pick. Could look at guys like Sukh Chungh or Jacob Ruby in the second round if we go elsewhere in the first. -

I wonder how much hype Demski is going to get after his performance on Saturday. -
If this was Riderfans, we could totally blame the Somali pirates.

Whoa whoa whoa there. You mean..... nah iso, goalie, Mr P and the rest can't be wrong about Drew freaking Willy can they? .... Ummmm, nope, it's me, I'm the one who doesn't know what he's talking about. Its the water boy (right Willy boys) -he's the culprit. Not Drew Willy, He had the time to go to his fourth reads, no one was open. That's why he was sacked. Willy is God, he can do no wrong. Now Willy is Jesus Christ, and he's shouldering the burden of the whole team You'd probably get a lot more credit for your opinion if you didn't sound like such a clown while you convey it. "look at me look at me look at me look at me"

Because he's shown to be highly capable, it's his first year as a starter and he's surrounded by (at most times) a pretty terrible supporting cast?
-
I'm not sure behind the exact way it works or how it's dealt with or anything, but the depth chart that teams release the day before a game has to be accurate. If it says Willy has to start, he's expected to start and while I'm not sure what it is, I believe there is some kind of penalty for not abiding by the depth chart. They could make a change in an emergency due to illness/injury/whatever but I think to do that, they'd have to rule the player in question out of the entire game. Would be interested to know exactly how it works, actually.

Suits is what I watched on Netflix most recently. So good.

ITT: old people using the internet. I'll weed through this stuff in the morning ... but on first glance, man some of you guys take the internet seriously.

That says everything you need to know about how teams feel about the Riders without Durant "we can beat them with our backups" Cornish is just that real good mix of speed and power. He's big and strong and has good enough balance he can run through tackles but he's also fast enough to break some big runs if he gets a hole. If you can draw up the kind of running back every team wants to have that's the guy there. The fact he is Canadian is such a bonus as well.. He's 30 years old though. Only has a year or so left before he falls off a cliff and is out of the league. Signs of him already falling apart. That's an incredibly bold prediction. I bet he plays until he's 33 at least.

It is a shame they waited so long. MOS should've benched Grigsby for Cotton 7-8 games ago and maybe even given Drew (Happy Feet) Willy a rest at the same time. I worry that O'Shea (who admits, and has demonstrated by his comments, that he knows nothing about the offensive phase of the game) might be too stubborn to learn from his or his coordinators errors. I mean this is an O that is guided by Buck Pierce and terminally-mediocre Marcel Bellefueille, and our lack offensive production combined with ill-timed offensive turnovers has been the achilles heel of this club all season long. Kyle Walters and Wade Miller aren't exactly offensive geniuses either. This could be a problem going forward. It's comments like these that make me shake my head. We should bring back Jim Bell. He just set the PIT Football record for TD passes in a season, he obviously knows what is needed to turn our offense around.

That stadium looks terrible, it looks like a big hole in the ground.
