  1. Quoted because if I don't keep this, no one will believe you said it.
  2. Now that pretty much everyone has been eliminated from the Lock of the Week, I figure we could do with a new contest to pass some time. It may be week 13, but I'm still going to give it a go anyways. CFL Survivor Pool. Pick the winner of one game each week. You pick a losing team, you're out. You can't pick the same team two weeks in a row. You miss a week, you're out. Go.
  3. I disagree. There's huge value in keeping a defense off balance and guessing. A few passes per game to Fitzgerald, and a few runs up the middle for Pontbriand would help do that. I never said replace Watson with Fitzgerald in the slot. You're right, there is huge value in keeping a defense guessing. But taking the ball away from skilled guys? To give it to Carl Fitzgerald or Pontbriand? We'd be better served finding ways to keep the defense guessing AND putting the ball in the hands of skilled players. I'd prefer to see more of Stoudermire on offense if that's the type of stuff we're trying to pull off. Or send Grigsby out to the wide side in a six receiver set like they've done a bit. That's the type of stuff that will make a defense pay if you can succeed at it. As JBR said, Fitzgerald or Pontbriand are well served as tendency breakers. The way they contribute is fine by me right now, but we shouldn't be relying on them to give us more than one first down a month.
  4. I agree with all of this, except the 'stellar' part. Morley is a much better center than guard, to be sure, but I've also seen him fall down virtually untouched on a few occasions. Yet there are CFL executives who believe he deserves to be in the running for the Most Outstanding Lineman award.
  5. Whoever made the decision to move Morley to center extended his career by several years and turned a mediocre guard into a stellar center. Other than that, I'm not impressed. The OL isn't the gong show some make it out to be but it's very inconsistent and very underwhelming.
  6. That would make a lot of sense in my opinion. It's certainly worked when we've used it before.
  7. There's no such thing as a fullback that gets you 5 yards every time. And if there was, it sure wouldn't be a 30+ year old career special teams player who excels with the ball in somebody else's hands.
  8. No idea, but Rider fans who come onto Bomber forums acting like clowns shouldn't go throwing stones at Bomber fans who post on the Rider home forum. We all read what you have to say over at Riderfans about the Bombers. Don't come looking for sympathy and crying crocodile tears over here if a Bomber fan makes you look bad on your home forum. You come here all trying to give the impression that you're a nice guy but everything you say to Bomber fans and about the Bombers on your home forum is real douchebaggery. Own it. Perhaps what we write on our home forum isn't meant for your eyes. Your logic button is broken. Well, I suppose I did have your account activated now, didn't we ? and I got your account activated over there, so what on earth is your point?
  9. Who cares about Saskatchewan. Let's worry about ourselves and if we take care of business, we'll beat out whoever it happens to be.
  10. I'm getting tired of all this **** and it's not just the Rider fans. You guys are supposed to be able to moderate yourselves. Figure it out.
  11. I think it's fair to at least acknowledge that he brought in SOME awesome rookies. But not enough of them. I mean, let's be honest ... Grigsby is going to win the MOR award. Bruce Johnson has been awesome. Mo Leggett is fantastic too. But we need more. Especially at routine spots like receiver or rush end.
  12. I really don't think our depth is appalling at all. My problem with it is that it is lackluster in spots where there's just no excuse. To be relying on guys like Kuale and Romby is atrocious.
  13. Blah, blah, blah...why do you always need to prove you were right? Blah, blah, blah...it's so exhausting. Blah, blah, blah... What's wrong with patting yourself on the back? If you make a good call, there's nothing wrong with it. Not even about patting myself on the back, it was just incredibly obvious. We all knew it. I guess I should have said what *we* knew was going to happen.
  14. Rick Campbell is the coach for Ottawa.
  15. What a shock. Exactly what I said was gonna happen is happening with Tino.
  16. Willy doesn't leave Regina to be a backup. I thought you guys were letting Willy go anyways because you had Tino. That's more or less what you said the other day.
  17. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
  18. Okay so I dug into it ... I was able to come up with two guesses for players Forde was referring to. OL Josiah St. John from Oklahoma and RB Shaq Murray-Lawrence from UNLV.
  19. All I'm saying is that it's impossible to determine who the first choice was because they didn't come available all at the same time. There are tons of variables. We gave up something to acquire Willy and we know Barker was dangling the rights to Collaros for an asset in return. So did we negotiate with Barker? Or was Collaros not worth an asset to us? Then again, you could easily counter that by saying we gave up an asset because once Burris and Collaros were gone, our situation was more desperate and we NEEDED to get Willy. You can go in circles with this argument and nobody will ever win. Danny McManus is on record as being a Willy backer the entire time and that's good enough for me because the only thing that matters is whether it was a stroke of genius or an absolute fluke, it worked out for us and now we have a franchise QB.
  20. I'll be getting drunk in the game day chat tonight so come on down for a great time.
  21. Put it this way ... I agree more with your thread title than I do with the content of the article you linked to. It can be an ongoing debate forever but there really is no way to prove Willy was not the preferred option between Collaros, Willy and Burris.
  22. I would think the difference is that this message board's basic purpose is to talk about the team, the articles, and by extension the press. Where as you decided to call those posters out directly for doing pretty much exactly why this message board exists. As far as I know you aren't part of the Winnipeg media, so why do you care if people complain about it. Let's also consider the fact that I've seen numerous threads on this site discussing a well written article as well. We are not slow to give praise to a writer when they deserve it. We're probably even quicker actually, since we're all so desperate for them.
  23. I'm sure that's not going to light the fire of a rookie making his first start who was already fighting teammates in practice. Turned up the intensity just a little bit.
  24. Toronto does it too.
  25. What I think is funniest is ... they complain about the lack of access to practice. When's the last time anyone actually saw a detailed practice report from the media?
