Sure. I think in fairness one should compare YPC, and % per number of touches to Guage effectiveness. He got fed the rock way more than anyone else, and yes he did well with those carries but he didn't lead all rushers by any significant margin that isn't directly related to his usage.

Yes he did, what are you even talking about? The only guy he didn’t have a better YPC than was Kevin Brown, who didn’t take goal line touches and is going to naturally get a bump in his YPC from that.

Also, where is this “100 more than any other back” bullshit coming from? He had 25 less carries than James Butler and over 400 more yards. Is that significant enough for you? Hell the only full time back he had 100 more than was Mills and he wasn’t even the guy the whole year and missed 3 games.

  2. Now hearing DB Demerio Houston has agreed in principle to a two-year deal with Calgary that has a total guaranteed figure exceeding $275k, making him one of the league’s highest-paid defensive backs.

what in the actual **** lol

Someone tell me why we wouldn’t want Jamal Davis  II coming off the edge.

Actually been a fan of his for a while

Yeah, this just feels like a WILD overpay to keep the local guy. I'm as happy as anyone to have Brady stay with the team, but that price just SEEMS way too high. I'm on Booch's team, thinking we could have gone to an American that would have provided approximately the same production. I feel like it's way easier to find RBs than it is to find elite REC's like Schoen. But we'll see what Walters has up his sleeve...

If we’re moving on from a few guys like Hardrick, Jeffcoat and some of the special teamers who were making 100k+ then we may as well spend that money somewhere.

If we can afford to give Cam Lawson a 60k raise, Brady getting not quite double that works just fine for me if it works fine for them.

Wait. You led the “This is the year fans will turn on Mike O’Shea, and if he doesn’t change his roster ways Wade Miller should sit him down and tell him his services are no longer needed” after a 15-3 season and losing by a blocked field goal in the Grey Cup, then started a whole thread about getting rid of Zach Collaros, and NOW you are expressing surprise about an entitled and spoiled fan base?

I develop my opinions based on what I see with my eyes, not based on a bunch of speculative numbers on paper. You won’t hear me speak any differently - I do think something needs to be done about O’Shea’s roster management and I do think Collaros has proven himself an underwhelming playoff performer on a decline.

Any other hit and run questions?

Just creating to the numbers available. They could be wrong - but it is all we have right now.

I’m a long time season ticket holder , through my family and now on my own. I’m not going anywhere. Doesn’t mean I agree every single move. Particularly in the moment.

I hear you brother. I just don’t like arguing over fairytales. I get we’re only going off what we have, I just don’t understand the purpose.

This isn’t like the Hardrick deal to me. I don’t need to know anything other than “Hardrick” and “highest paid American OL” to know that’s stupid. Way more at play here.

What the hell makes you the expert? People are certainly entitled to their opinion on this contract. It is 60k more than any RB made last year and the biggest RB contract in CFL history. Not everyone agrees that ANY RB at 230-240k is a wise use of SMS. That's not entitlement or being spoiled. It's different from your opinion that is all.

Well, for starters, I’m not an expert but I at least understand the facts related to the situation. The bolded is not true.

I'm sure it will be an overpay as well...especially being an import back too...Oday trying to make a splash, and can see all that big money being a waste

If the market is the market, then it’s not an overpay. You’re too caught up on the individual numbers, man. Who cares? It’s a good day for us. Do you think you’re going to be in the stands in August surrounded by people celebrating a Brady TD thinking to yourself “arggggh that could’ve cost us $900 less!”

If the numbers are accurate - yes, some feel that is too much.

I feel you though. I saw threads that said stuff like “ Za@cH  ColLaros needs to go” and I thought “what?”.

It is like you can have more than one opinion, right?

Also seeing posters changing their tune from what they were saying pre re-signing.

I still stand by that. But you’re right, we can all have opinions. The only thing I don’t like about this salary cap talk is that it’s an opinion based on absolutely nothing. We’re all just guessing.

  8. I’m genuinely baffled at some of the reactions in here lol have we just turned into a ridiculously spoiled and entitled Rideresque fanbase who thinks everyone should take less money for the honour of playing here?

The Bombers just signed the MOP finalist, MOC winner to a two year contract in the prime of his career. Take the hometown element out of it.

MBB members, with no information on other offers, negotiations, the Bombers’ internal cap, how much other players get paid, how much the Bombers were anticipating paying, how much Brady asked for, where we’ve spent or plan to spend other dollars, where we’ve saved or plan to save other dollars or really genuinely any information about anything at all other than just a bunch of retweets from guys they only trust if the information suits their narrative: “tOo MuCh”

    what?

Harris was the entire offence for years. Brady is one part of the offence.

Feels like an overspend to me.

When was Harris the entire offense in BC when he got paid that money?

Brady just had 2016 yards from scrimmage and a 5.9 YPC with 13 touchdowns. I know nostalgia is a thing, but that’s a more productive season than Andrew Harris has ever had.

Don’t love the money but I do like that we have the second year because that's got "restructure to take a big bonus and lower the cap hit" written all over it.

People will be upset about the money but as long as we didn’t overspend (which I don’t think we did, it’s exactly what Harris used to make) then it is what it is, they obviously had their number to make it work as we’ve all been saying and this fit.

  11. I really think there’s a notable absence of negotiations being held with the top receivers and I’m guessing it’s because everyone has realized paying 300k to a Lawler or Lewis doesn’t mean anything if you suck at QB.

My gut tells me right now that Schoen may have been hoping for an offer from Ottawa to go play with Dru, but now that it’s probably not coming, he’ll be back here at 260k-ish

  12. I’m going to try and be self-aware with this because I know I prefer Schoen over Brady myself, but I did have a conversation with my dad the other day where he made a very good point: we’ve never played Schoenball in the 4th Q to seal a win. We’ve made a habit of playing Bradyball. That stuff does matter and I don’t think I had really considered that until he said it.

IF it comes down to losing Schoen to keep Brady, I am 110% okay with that.

Ignoring being from Winnipeg - We're talking about the best player at his position AND counting as a National, AND handling the ball typically 15-20 times a game, occasionally sometimes more.

As the weather turns, running the ball gets increasingly important, while Schoen, is at a position where we already have great talent, is usually the easiest position to find new, American talent, and only handles the ball a few times a game.

Don't get me wrong - I love Schoen. He's a gritty SOB and among the best at his position too...but given the above, if forced to choose (and hopefully we don't have to), I'm keeping Brady every day of the week and twice on Sundays. It's not particularly close for me whatsoever.

There is something to be said about how Brady is a luxury so it shouldn’t matter, but it’s definitely easier to find a Schoen than a Brady. I hope we manage to keep both though.
