  1. In the first Q, we had crazy DL rush/blitz schemes and left the flats open for Walker to exploit or if we didn't stop him in the backfield, run for 10-15 yards... classic Etch. After that didn't work, he retreated to a more CFL zone D. We sent four DL almost all game with the occasional safety or LB blitz. Seemed like Wild (for the most part) took a lot more of a 'contain' role than 'all or nothing' pressure. I think he gambled hard on getting to Burris in the 1st Q, it didn't work and, thankfully, he recognized that. Later in the game, he started getting a bit Etch again but by that time, the D was rolling and Walker was off his game. Just my opinion of course... haven't rewatched the game... not that I can thanks to TSN... Honestly, the thing that stood out most to me is that it looked like he stopped allowing them to isolate Bucknor in man coverage situations and he stopped sending Wild after Burris all the time. You nailed it with your assessment, imo. I don't think I saw Leggett lining up in the box as much either, because by the time he was backpedaling into position early in the game, Burris already had the ball out of his hands and Leggett wasn't there in the secondary.
  2. I swear it was 15 a minute ago.
  3. why is Ricky Ray black?
  4. re: the flea flicker That was executed really well ... but the one DB on Ottawa did a great job of not letting the primary target fly by and we didn't end up getting a big gain. Good play by whatever expansion DB that was. Good play by Willy to not panic and still make it a positive play.
  5. Charlie Roberts was never big enough to stand toe to toe with guys that he needed to block, but man did he know how to turn into an effective speed bump.
  6. To be fair, most of us would've done the exact same thing with Burris. The book on Hank is to get to him early.
  7. I'm going to ignore the rest of post for now, but dude get a grip. Turner just had a baby with his wife. See the other thread about him missing the game. Family comes first. He Family needed him there. To suggest he should have missed the birth of his daughter is ludicrous and shows you don't have any kids, or vision outside of football. You point about planning to have a kid outside of football season? Man are you ignorant. People have miscarriages, and it can take years to concieve a kid. Having kids and is a lifetime event. Football is maybe 3-10 years if you are lucky. In 10 years, football will be a memory. How many kids do you have? I think i already know the answer. I'm sure he has had several children, all of which he missed the births of in order to assume his position as the backup holder for the field goal kicker of his beer league football team. But we haven't been around football, so we wouldn't know what the culture is like.
  8. And if you think anyone here actually believes a word you're saying, you are wrong.
  9. Whether you coached in the NCAA or not (which you didn't, of course), you obviously don't understand the CFL when you make comments like "the RB doesn't have to block" or "we should just use an American for punting only"
  10. I agree with Renaud, but your solution of Maher doesn't make any sense. I don't really agree regarding Grigsby. He's got work to do. Product of the system is where I'm standing at this point. Strong runner, below average blocker. Won't cut it long term unless he improves to become a complete back. Also don't agree that Aaron Kelly is the new Milt Stegall. Not only is he not even close to Milt Stegall, he's not the #1 receiver on our team by any means. Bryant Turner ... anyone questioning him doesn't really have that right, as far as I'm concerned. Worry about your family, he'll worry about his. Matt Bucknor, I'm not terribly sold on. He was getting abused HARD early. He picked up his socks, but there's a reason he had like 6 tackles in the first quarter. As far as Etcheverry goes ... if you didn't see any adjustments, you must have turned the game off quite early. Like in the first quarter.
  11. They move around. And there's only one ball man.
  12. He gave up on his route? We must have seen entirely different things there.
  13. Why am I not even slightly surprised Friesen got the score wrong?
  14. lol seriously? You harp on me calling Kelly average all offseason and now that he's on pace for a 1000 yard season, you want to call for him to be benched?
  15. Goalie, I think you're really underestimating how important pass protection is for a running back.
  16. Excellent.
  17. God dammit ... I forgot to take Jeff Fuller out and Calgary has a bye. Still doing pretty well, I have 50 points already with Durant, Swain and Harris left to play.
  18. I'm kind of disappointed. He threw for 308 yards in week 1 and only threw for 307 last night. If he throws for 306 next week, I think we should hand the ball to Brohm and see what he can do. Just kidding. The last we had a quarterback throw for 300 yards in back to back games was September 12+19, 2009 with Kevin Glenn. Wow.
  19. At one point, part of me sure was starting to think "man, they really want Ottawa to win" with all those penalties. Not so much the calls against us, they were legitimate, but the calls that were being missed on Ottawa ...
  20. Thanks for the feedback. As for Ottawa, they haven't played a game yet (other than preseason) so it's really tough to gauge what they will/won't do..especially since this is their 1st season. "Making the game boring" means playing efficient football..that's what they did last week vs Toronto. They didn't try to get 'cute' or 'fancy', they kept it simple and executed. That's what is meant by 'keep it boring'. It has nothing to do with points. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the efforts you go through. Just constructive criticism, that's all. I've seen you break down film before and your knowledge is strong. Try and integrate that into the previews when possible and they'd improve a ton. Always love seeing somebody from down in the States embrace the game.
  21. I'm torn on Grigsby. Solid runner, but it's ironic that he played against Chevon Walker tonight because that's who he reminds me of. Mainly because both leave much to be desired in pass protection. But 100+ in two straight and 3 majors isn't something to scoff at
  22. Teague Sherman is a BEAST
  23. Your production values are improving, but I have to be honest. The analysis still leaves a lot to be desired. For Ottawa's preview, all you really seemed to do is name names. You seemed to more or less just be reading their depth chart. For Winnipeg's preview, you isolated Jesse Briggs as a defender who played well last week. He took maybe half a dozen snaps on defense all game, if that. For the keys to the game, you mentioned Winnipeg needs to make it a boring game like last week. What part of a 45 point outburst is boring? And why would we want to make it boring this week? I do like the fantasy football feature though, it's an interesting addition to your previews.
  24. The 23 penalties is important to place in proper context. At the end of the first quarter, when it was 17-0 for Winnipeg, the penalty count was 3 penalties/20 yards for Toronto and 1 penalty/5 yards for Winnipeg. Two of Toronto's penalties were special teams infractions that hardly altered anything at all. It wasn't like the tide was turned by this sudden rush of penalties, the game was already well in our favor by the time Toronto started losing their cool.
  25. Chevon Walker will probably be good for a 75 yard TD and a fumble that breaks their spirit.
