I'm not sure why you have such an issue with this. It is obvious this isn't a position they planned on having for the coaching staff to start the season. They liked what the new guy brought as a guest coach and made the budget work to hire him full time. The way I see it, that is the exact opposite that you are suggesting. They aren't cheaping out, they made room in the budget to bring in someone they liked. I knew I'd get heat for what I said. Why am I not impressed with junior coaches? My son played 2 years of junior football & started but the favouritism & politics these guys inflicted on their players, well. Most of them should stick with high school. That's their competency level. So because your son played for what you viewed as a corrupt staff of junior coaches (and let's be honest, you're not likely the most unbiased person about this ... what parent would be?) you are now willing to typecast EVERY junior coach as incompetent?

Antolin looks good. None of these QBs other than Kevin Glenn look good at all. TJ Lee is a keeper.

He's also predicted about 4 15 yarders that didn't pan out. So awful.

I remember last year in his second or third game, he strung together a few nice tosses in a row and then out of nowhere he launched a ball that must have gone 60 yards in the air and so high it was out of view on TV. Beautiful spiral. It landed in the hands of the safety, who was about 20 yards away from the nearest receiver.

Troy Smith is not good. Everyone will fawn over him because once every 15 snaps he makes a play where you go "wow" but he's inconsistent, inaccurate and really just not good.

He's been playing almost entirely against the starting D. I'm sorry but Troy Smith sucks.

That's a good point actually. Dunn was one for sure, Was zach anderson another? Outside of those 2 guys though, I don't think there was anyone else and Anderson might not have even started the first game. Markett? nah, he didn't start. Desia Dunn (who admittedly, I wasn't excited about at all) and Zach Anderson right off the bat. Then there was Markett and Wallace Miles was a promising receiver as well (although he was here right at the end of 2012) Hows miles doing out in ottawa? is he gonna make the team or is he a guy that we could possibly pick up? He had 4 catches for 44 yards last week. Most receptions on the team.

Defensive end too. We don't have an import backup defensive end. Those are two of the easiest positions to fill. And we whiffed hard on both. To their credit though, they did an unreal job with the level of talent in the secondary.

There aren't many things worse than a Rusty Johnson.

I won't say completely devoid. There are a handful of talented rookie imports that I am excited about. Bruce Johnson, Maurice Leggett and Paris Cotton. That being said, one is injured and one probably isn't a starter so where does that leave us? I'm just really, really disappointed at the level of defensive line prospects and receiving prospects we brought in. Look at our rush end depth. The backup is Louie Richardson. No offense to Louie Richardson, but that's sad.

Daivon Dumas has to be the least mentioned guy throughout all of training camp, which generally isn't bad for a DB, and you can't believe we kept him. And then you find it weird that we cut Dell without a chance to get a good look at him, but you're surprised we kept Howard - who also has yet to get much of a chance this TC. And Taylor Renaud? Who cares. sometimes I think you just sit there waiting to find something in my posts to blow out of proportion. Randle wasn't mentioned because he's a shutdown guy, Dumas wasn't mentioned because he was trailing the play and got very limited reps in pre-season Howard was a turnstyle... Peterson had some problems but showed more than Howard. Even with that whiffed tackle, I thought Moseley was impressive on STs. He had more speed than the other DL prospects. Renaud - I will always cheer for Manitobans... would have PRd him until we actually found another better NI prospect I'm not upset at all. In fact, I'm excited that Hall is gone. I do that because you actually explain your opinions. Hence, dialogue.

What did he say about Dell?? They asked him if Dell was in future plans (i.e. PR) at all and he said no and then said they basically didn't manage things properly and brought him in too close to cutdown day to even give him a chance.

So then process of elimination, practice roster would be ... Browning, Dumas, Bolton, Everett, a couple import OL, Fraser, Kemp ... or something like that?
