I'm trying to figure this out. Is Pruneau going first overall?
-
Wow. Desjardins.
-
If there is no trade... and yes, this is probably highly unlikely. Just looking to switch things up from the mocks I have seen.
1. Ottawa - OL Pierre Lavertu
2. Winnipeg - OL Matthias Goossen
3. Edmonton - DB Antoine Pruneau
4. Montreal - OL David Foucault
5. BC - DB Andrew Lue
6. Toronto - DL Quinn Smith
7. Calgary - DL Evan Gill
8. Saskatchewan - RB Anthony Coombs
9. Hamilton - DL Dylan Ainsworth
I had the exact same top 6 when I mocked it earlier barring trades.

@PentonKirk: It seems like the chances of a #Bombers trade are better if the RedBlacks take Lavertu. #CFLDraft
It's true. They may pick Goossen but they don't like him anywhere near as much as they like Lavertu. One is plug and play, one is a project

@BobIrvingCJOB: Bombers will draft lavertu or Goossen. Take it to the bank.
Looks like you're going to end up being right. I'll give you credit for calling it as early as you did.

Trading for Westerman without a contract could be quite detrimental in February. That could be argued it is more of a gamble than selecting a prospect.
Especially when he's not interested in signing a new one.

penton tweeted that bc really wants to move up to #2 and is wondering if walters will give buono want he wants.
# 2 for #5 and #14 or keep #2.
I know they love the guy and nobody wants to give up a roster player, but if I'm Walters, I'm hardballing Buono. I don't want two picks for the #2, I want #5 and a guy like Haidara.
oh i agree, 2 picks isn't enough. I was thinking like #5 and westerman. But haidara works too.
I'd rather have Haidara to be honest.

I know Walters likes him, but I don't really see a true fit in terms of where they are picking.

Sounds like the team's willing to trade up are:
Edmonton, Montreal, BC.
Edmonton doesn't have a 2nd pick, so it would be tough for someone to want to make that deal.
Austin has been on record as saying that they don't have pressing needs but there is one player they covet and hope he is there at 9. I am wondering if it is Pruneau or Lue, as that defence is changing to two Canadians in the secondary, so the depth will be needed. Perhaps he uses those two 2nd's to his advantage.
I think Pruneau is going to be a guy that goes a lot earlier than people expect.
I've thought out scenarios where he goes as high as 3rd.

12:00 noon local time- Sportsnet is reporting that they will shortly announce some big CFL news. Hmmmm....
Can't wait to hear what this is. Anyone care to speculate?
Wouldn't that be the news that CFLPA is suggesting a strike vote? It's already 1:20 PM in Sportsnet's EST time zone and that news came out about 90-120 minutes ago.

Posted it on Twitter this morning, the 2014 increase that the owners proposed equates to 3.6% of the new revenue.
Absolutely disgusting.

I think it's going to be Simoni Lawrence. It makes sense ...
I saw the Vikings just released him this morning. He'd be great.
Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but that could be a reason they couldn't give out a name yet last night and Lawrence would be a near perfect fit for what Etcheverry wants to do, even more so than Kuale.

I'd rather have a sure fire starter than 2-3 backups/ST players. I'm not convinced either that Gill is a sure fire CFL starter.
I agree with you, but the catch is that I don't think people are sure of whether or not Goossen is a sure fire starter.
I don't know if this is a fair comparison, but Goossen basically comes across as Pencer in terms of projecting a developmental curve.

In a shallow draft trading out is not a good move.
Makes plenty of sense if you're looking to maximize value.
Why would the Bombers trade out if they need OL help? Makes no sense.Seems silly and quite pointless to say given what the thread just talked about, but based on what I have heard sums it all up. Goossen will be the pick if they can't trade out.
1. Lavertu
2. Trade
3. Goossen
Trade would be great for the Bombers... I would try and swing 2 & 20 for 5, 12, 14. Not sure the Lions would go, but worth a shot.
Goossen at 2 is not good value.
You're misinterpreting the meaning of shallow. The top 15 stacks up against most draft classes. It falls off somewhere shortly after that if you ask most scouts. Tyler will probably be able to put a more exact analysis together though.

Something tells me this may not be a "name" CFLer. If it's Kuale, that's also super underwhelming.

I've said it the whole time. Winnipeg is not extremely high on Goossen. If they draft him it's not because they love him.

It wasn't Farhan Lalji that speculated Lavertu to Calgary, it was CFL_News retweeting him and adding his own thoughts
