Big fan of this, I was hoping they'd move either Sears or Washington to safety.

For anyone attending camp tonight, please feel free to share your reports with us! Camp is from 7 PM - 9 PM tonight. Remember, everyone who provides a report will gain an entry into our draw for a gift card at the conclusion of training camp.

I really liked the Nzegwu signing. I've liked Kenny Tate and Mo Leggett all along and Bruce Johnson seems like he could be in the mix too. There are a lot of defensive guys I'm curious to see though. One guy that gets a lot of play here is CJ Tarver ... potential kick returner, but let's keep in mind he's already 30 years old. The kick returner I have my eye on is Michael Ray Garvin.

Morning Big Blue One Year Anniversary! On the same day that rookie camp opens for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, MorningBigBlue.com is pleased to celebrate the one year anniversary of our website launch. We launched on May 28, 2013 in an attempt to meet the demands of our community just in time for the opening of the 2013 season and a year later, we are pleased to say that we have exceeded all expectations we had for this project. The community that you all helped us build has done some awesome things over the past year. We just recently hit 50,000 posts and over 300 registered users. We’ve become one of the most active CFL fan forums out there and now, we’re happy to announce that we are in a position to start giving back. For the 2014 season, we had previously mentioned that we will be continuing on with the contests we held last year. Both the CFL Pick’em Pool and the Lock of the Week contest will return for 2014, but this year we are offering a $50 Bomber Store gift card to the winner of each contest (arrangements for another team's gift certificate for our out of town members can be made). We are also going to be starting a new Weekly Fantasy contest (to replace the yearly fantasy league) which will allow more of our members to participate. There will be a $50 gift card handed out to the winner of this year-long contest as well. More detail on this to come. We are also going to be offering MorningBigBlue.com shirts to the winners of our yearly contests, as well as randomly throughout the season for various other contests we will be holding. Here is a sneak peak at these T-Shirts. To celebrate our one year anniversary, we will also be doing a random draw for a $25 Bomber Store gift card via our Twitter account. Follow @MorningBigBlue and re-tweet our contest when it comes out to receive an entry into the draw, which will conclude on June 6th. In order to encourage our members to participate and contribute to the content that we value so much from all of you, we are also going to award a $25 gift card in a random draw for all of our members who submit training camp reports. Each daily report will gain you one entry to the draw which will be held at the conclusion of training camp. We also have something else to announce that this entire community should be very proud of. When we created this site, we never did it as a means to earn any income or profit off of the stream of money that we received. We had always maintained that once all the bills were paid off, we wanted to make sure all of the money went to something meaningful. Through the ad revenue we generated from all of our web traffic over the past year, we ended up with enough money that we were able to donate a pair of Bomber season tickets to the Boys & Girls Club of Winnipeg on behalf of everyone here at MorningBigBlue.com. It isn’t something we ever expected, and you should all give yourselves a pat on the back for contributing to this site and making this possible. If you ever wonder why we push our website to grow or why we’ve believed in trying to carve out a Twitter following over the past year, it is because for every pair of eyes on our website, it increases the opportunities for things like this. We do it because we are huge fans of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and to be able to provide an opportunity for the less fortunate to experience what we enjoy so much is an awesome feeling for us. Thank you to everyone for an awesome first year. - The MorningBigBlue.com Staff **As an aside - Sometimes I worry that by making all the announcements, I'm stealing Rich's thunder because he is truly the man behind getting Morning Big Blue going. Rich has put in a ton of time, effort and I know he paid out of pocket for the initial startup so I just want to say thanks for making all of this possible. Our staff is one cohesive team and we all contribute in our own way, but Rich has gone above and beyond with a number of late nights, early mornings and much more to ensure that this site had a smooth first year.**

Bombers negotiate Transit game day discount

I would buy it, except the person who runs the Twitter account has been in trouble before for similar stuff. -

It's a retweet not an offical tweet! Give the team more credit than that! Retweeting something like that implies you are reiterating / supporting the comment. They deleted it already, just like I assumed they would. -
Hmm. Not clear enough I guess.

Pretty sure it's part of his contract, included as an off the books source of income to outbid other teams in free agency. Are they paying him for the chips or with chips?
-
I went to high school with him, he's a year younger than me I think. When I graduated, he was a total beanpole. When I played against him in PIT a year ago, I couldn't believe how much he had blown up. He's built like a pro receiver now for sure. I definitely wouldn't doubt his commitment to hitting the gym.

REC Kurt Goodrich FB Tariq Lachance DL Spencer Riche OL Braiden Watson I don't know much about the Rifles football program, but I know Kurt Goodrich and he's flat out good. For as good as Brett Carter was, Goodrich is better. I think he set the PFC record for receiving yards this year (can't confirm 100%) with 980+ and he had a 24 yard per catch average. Led the conference in yards receiving by about 250 or more and caught more touchdowns than anyone too. Could make some noise with the club.
-
I could be wrong, but it's totally possible that Taylor Renaud, Brescacin and Stevenson could be non counters too.
-
Hajrullahu Is a non counter too.

Came across three guys that appear to have signed with the Bombers this weekend, but the team hasn't announced anything yet. OL Jesse Peterson OL Ed Prince DB Daivon Dumas I'm pretty sure they're at the point where they have to release guys in order to sign them, so we may see three signings and three cuts some time before rookie camp starts. No idea who they'd let go of at this point, but I'd imagine they might swap a OL or a DB to make space for these guys.
-
I'd like to see Kowalczuk move into a PR role with the club if he doesn't make it this year. He may be out of a roster spot (unless they keep him as a backup over Morley) but he's honestly a fantastic guy to have in the community.

Isn't it a jump from 3 to 4 for designated imports -
I think they're awful, but they're not "bootleg", they're licensed by Marvel.

This "2 new active roster players" thing is being misinterpreted by a lot of people, fans and players alike. There are no new costs associated with the 2 new roster spots, they're simply expanding the game day roster from 42 to 44 and decreasing the size of the reserve roster from 4 to 2. It's still 46 game cheques being handed out (the players on the 4 man reserve get a game cheque too) it's just that teams can now dress 2 extra players instead of paying them to stand in civvies on the sideline. Do you know if those guys travelled with the teams last year? If not, there would be a minimal cost increase to the clubs for this on travel. In most cases, they travel. Only time they don't is when they're doing a roster shuffle to keep an injured guy off the 1-game IR or something (less cap cost that way) but if they're healthy bodies, the majority of the time they're travelling. -

Thanks for the clarification. Is there a different "minimum" for non active players? Nope, for all intents and purposes, it's the same contract. Maybe there are bonuses for "dressing" or something, but it's still the same standard player contract. Which leads me to wonder why they even bother having it. If you're paying 4 (now 2) guys the same as you would be if they were playing, why not just let them play? -

One of the biggest misconceptions fans have about contracts in the CFL is that true signing bonuses are handed out frequently. They're very rarely given out.

Pretty awesome design, excited to attend a LDC there.

They won it because a 1.9% chance is a 1.9% chance, not a 0% chance. The lottery is not rigged. If the NBA was going to rig the lottery to award a market with a superstar like Wiggins or Parker, don't you think they'd pick somewhere other than Cleveland? Boston and LA both have huge markets and a good shot to win the #1 pick, NBA makes the most money if they win it, not Cleveland.

Enough posturing. Get to the table, sit down and figure it out. Nobody is going to care who sends the nicest letters if there's a work stoppage.
