  1. That's a shame. The Bombers really would be able to make a compelling offer with their freed up money, I'm sure.
  2. May as well ... As for the Bombers, I'm predicting three notable signings. Rory Kohlert, Swayze Waters and one of the big four non-imports (Laurent, Butler, Bourke and Emry) with my money being on Bourke.
  3. I don't doubt they're interested, but I'd say this is one Saskatchewan guy where we actually have the advantage. Playing time + his girlfriend = him coming back here
  4. #preseason
  5. If there's a single position in the CFL that I don't think is worth using recycled goods, it's the running back position.
  6. For preseason, they should have 6 3-way games on triangular fields.
  7. At this point, I'm really expecting him to re-up with us. The comment by Desjardins in this article kind of sums it up. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/Receiver+Rory+Kohlert+test+market/9487708/story.html I like it. Kohlert can be a very valuable receiver for us.
  8. You sure have an interesting viewpoint on those who don't agree with you. It seems like you don't actually read what people are saying once you figure out they are disagreeing with you, you just assume they are being rude and "shouting you down" I've never said anything different about Etienne. I've always said people just need to be patient and that when he actually got a chance in 2013, he started to show why he was worth being drafted. Certain people just weren't willing to be patient because of their expectations due to his draft position. Anyways, that's all I'll try and say to you on the subject. I don't want to be accused of "shouting you down" just because I explain my opinion.
  9. Nope. I hated on him because he couldn't play as a capable member of our roster, whether or not he was getting reps as a receiver. I knew he wouldn't be able to live up to his draft slot as a Blue Bomber, and I knew that by the time he was even an average player he'd be at the end of his lifespan as a Blue Bomber, so even if he ends up being a good player, he's not a good player for us. It's pretty easy to tell the guys that are receivers in CIS, and the guys like Parker and Etienne who just blow by inferior athletes but don't have enough game to be useful pros. To Etienne's credit, he has come a lot farther than Parker has in that respect, but he'll always lose when he has to battle to gain leverage on DB's. Regardless of what Etienne does in Saskatchewan, just a horrendous draft pick for the Bombers. At least it only cost us Jyles. Never would have included you in my statement, you've always had a reasonable and respectable opinion on the issue.
  10. I've never seen such a level of ... hatred ... for a player.
  11. I'd bring him back but with nothing guaranteed.
  12. I gotta be honest, the only new imports (I don't mean Willy, Vega, etc) that I have interest in are Josh Francis and Kenny Tate
  13. Too many people hated on Jade simply because they wanted him to play to their expectations of a fourth overall pick instead of simply playing like a capable member of our roster.
  14. Some of you sure have some bizarre expectations. This was a press conference to introduce our new starting QB and you want them to provide an honest answer on whether or not he was their first choice or not? "We'd like to introduce our new STARTING quarterback, Drew Willy! He wasn't our first or second choice but hey, he was available!" And suggesting that because they're interested in upgrading the QB stable, they don't feel confident in Willy? Very interesting reaches by some of you.
  15. Oh ok. I guess that's supposed to be funny. You must be fun at parties. Jay Detain is funny because that's what the close captioning on IGF interprets his name as. Same with Rory Dough Alert. And Demons Washing Ham. I can't wait to see what the captioning comes up with for Lirim Hajrallahu next season! The scoreboard is just going to implode.

  17. Running backs are always like this. They're so used to being the star and getting what they want because after the QB, they're the big ticket guys. What they don't realize is that there are a million of them out there and supply/demand is what dictates price, not how high profile or popular the position you play is.
  18. I'm still firmly in the camp that thinks Collaros would be better, but hey ... McManus thinks I'm wrong and I obviously hope I'm wrong too. And given my track record lately, I'm pretty sure I will be wrong.
  19. I still think the plan for guys like Bucknor or Robertson ideally is to phase them in as the nickel back. It doesn't give you a starter, but it frees up a DI spot for a guy on offense. Especially since we're probably going to have to use a DI on a LB spot this year.
  20. Just a question that I was pondering last night ... If it wasn't for Collaros, would Drew Willy be more of a headline signing? I get that he's still viewed as the guy going forward and I get that we're all still excited, but there's still that air of "but he's not Collaros" to the whole thing and I just have to wonder if more of us would view Willy as a legitimate option for the future if not for missing on the Collaros sweepstakes. I remember how excited we all were about Reilly last year. Reilly in 2012 REILLY, M 2012 BC 52 75 69.3 682 56 4 5.3 2 2.7 104.4 REILLY, M 2012-10-19 BC EDM 28 19 67.9 276 47 2 7.1 1 3.6 108.6 REILLY, M 2012-10-26 BC CGY 26 19 73.1 261 56 2 7.7 0 0.0 130.5 REILLY, M 2012-11-03 BC SSK 13 9 69.2 101 21 0 0.0 0 0.0 92.2 75 pass attempts, 52 completions for a near 70% completion rate and almost 700 yards. Three games with decent sample size. Willy in 2012/2013 WILLY, D 2012 SSK 69 95 72.6 709 43 5 5.3 4 4.2 93.7 WILLY, D 2013 SSK 32 52 61.5 473 45 4 7.7 1 1.92 108.9 WILLY, D 2012-09-09 SSK WPG 23 17 73.9 188 33 1 4.3 1 4.3 94.1 WILLY, D 2012-09-16 SSK MTL 34 22 64.7 225 33 1 2.9 2 5.9 68.9 WILLY, D 2013-07-27 SSK HAM 25 14 56.0 269 45 3 12.0 0 0.0 133.6 WILLY, D 2013-11-02 SSK EDM 22 15 68.2 157 26 1 4.5 1 4.5 84.9 Four games with a decent sample size for Willy and they end up comparing fairly. Seems like Drew is more experienced than Reilly was when we were so enamored with him last year and considering I was a huge Reilly booster, it makes me wonder why I don't get as excited about Willy. Saskatchewan stink? Because he comes across as option B? Nothing is guaranteed. Reilly wasn't. Collaros isn't. Willy isn't. But after thinking about it, I'm just not sure why I'm not as excited about Willy as I was about the other two. I mean really, I saw what he could do when he tore us a new one in the Banjo Bowl. We know he's capable. So what is it?
  21. The best one was the toilet with the cheering section a foot away.
  22. I see us signing between 5-7 of those guys. Cvetkovic and Stewart are the two I'm pretty certain on.
  23. Curious who you're talking about because my first thought is that it's me and I haven't been absent. I'm actually bummed to see Jade go.
  24. I wouldn't cut Cauchy. Our Canadian depth is thin to the point where we need to supply the guys we have with opportunities to bounce back. We're not exactly in a position to be picky. People are going to say "well, he's making too much money!" but really, we can afford to have a couple guys like that. Everyone can.
