O'Shea just got a round of applause when he said "this is not a rebuild"
I think it was closer to when he said "Grey Cup".
I missed the end of what he said, but I thought he had said something else. Thanks.

O'Shea is putting on a good face, but you know he's hearing these questions that guys are asking and he's like ...
-
Some of these reporters here are seriously dumb.
"What say will you have in the starting QB?"
Derp.
-
And now O'Shea says he likes the fact that Miller is involved.
Hmm.
-
You can pretty much guarantee Creehan will not be on the staff based on what O'Shea said he's looking for in his assistants.

da fuq is with this stream. Not working?

I know being a professional HC is more than " hey, guys , be like me when I played. "
And it's also a lot more than drawing plays on a whiteboard and barking formations into a headset, which is apparently the only things guys like Cortez and Burke are good at.

Burke , as the archtiect of "Swaggerville", had the team in the palm of his hand and still screwed the pooch. O'Shea wasnt even a DC and gets promoted with less coaching experience than Kavis Reed.
Sceptical on this hire.
You loved the George Cortez hire, so I'm okay with your opinion.
Compare their coaching resumes before making the jump to HC and you would see why. Far as I can see O'shea was hired because ...
1. He was a good player on good teams. 2 . He coached something.
You're right. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he is regarded as one of the best on-field leaders in the history of the CFL.
That aint coaching and you know it.
I don't really think you know what a head coach does.

Have a feeling thar MB ends up as our OC...
Don't see sask letting cortez go and we need some exp
Glad oshea is here and the decision is made-announed... Really liking these moves
If Cortez has an opportunity to be a HC in the CFL or elsewhere or even leave to go be an OC somewhere else in the league, the Riders can't hold him. All assistants have an out clause after the season to go to other teams in the CFL or elsewhere. How productive would it be for the Riders to not allow Cortez to pursue other opportunities & they have a disgruntled coach on their hands?
Saskatchewan doesn't have a choice no matter what.
It's not a case of them "not allowing" him or him exercising an out clause. He's not under contract to them. He's free to do what he wants.

Good for Collaros. He can explore NFL options all he wants, we may have to go after him in FA but the reality is he's very likely going to be in the CFL next year.

Congrats to Henoc, only Bomber to make the squad.
Let's hope he wants to get mentored by a fellow Canadian all-star MLB.

with that arm/shoulder tattoo you'd fit right in here in Kelowna Mike.
thank you. It's a family tribute piece, so I guess I'll take that as a compliment even though I probably shouldn't.

One thing Penton said to Mike on Twitter today (sorry to creep...ha ha!) was that it sounds like the co-ordinators are going to be chosen by the entire team working together. Wade, Kyle, AGMs, and O'Shea....as with everything so far, they're going to be working like a joint task force to get stuff done, and that'll be no different with the assistants. So it'll be interesting to see what the consensus picks are!
Wait, that's our Mike that asked that?
....I feel so....let down. Which one are you, the one with the backwards cap or the stupid glasses?
stupid glasses.
Sigh...I feel sad now.
there I changed it. I look slightly (SLIGHTLY) less douchebaggy now.

Hey Mike,
Any idea who are the guys that Oshea will bring in as coordinators / positional coaches ?
Who are the guys he supposed to assemble when he was interviewed for Sask HC position?
When he interviewed in Saskatchewan, he was interested in Orlondo Steinauer, Marcus Brady and Jason Maas.
Right now? Today?
No idea.
I'm going to pick a dark horse for our staff though ... I won't be surprised if Jordan Younger retires and we hire him as a DB coach.

I like the general positivity surrounding all of this. No more laughing stock...actually being applauded for moves. Not that outside opinions mean everything, but it's just nice to not be embarrassed about what we're doing. I feel really good about the direction we're headed. Attaboy, Wade...let's keep 'er rolling and hope for good things on the field!
The part I like best is that O'Shea is held in such high regard that we passed on the experienced candidate (Cortez) and the media is STILL saying it's a great move.

Either way, Collaros is going to be a Bomber. But if Collaros goes Scott over Danny V then it happens quicker.
Now that you've changed your avatar, does this mean the circus has officially left Winniepg?
I think the past two days have been very important for Winnipeg's football future. I'm very happy.

Any chance the announcement has anything to do with the city being awarded the Grey Cup? Normally a coaching hire announcement is just made in the Bombers media room at the stadium. Something seems strange about having a big press conference at the Fairmont unless it was big news involving the city...
Been pretty much confirmed that O'Shea is being announced today.
Heard multiple reports saying that is the ONLY thing they're announcing.
-
Irving and Lawless also now convinced it's O'Shea. Hope his flight isnt delayed...
He's already here
-
Possibly. I just don't think they can outbid Saskatchewan.
Not because they're not willing to spend but because Saskatchewan will be pretty much forced to one up any offer for Cortez. He's priceless for that team.
