I'm still firmly in the camp that thinks Collaros would be better, but hey ... McManus thinks I'm wrong and I obviously hope I'm wrong too. And given my track record lately, I'm pretty sure I will be wrong.

I still think the plan for guys like Bucknor or Robertson ideally is to phase them in as the nickel back. It doesn't give you a starter, but it frees up a DI spot for a guy on offense. Especially since we're probably going to have to use a DI on a LB spot this year.

Just a question that I was pondering last night ... If it wasn't for Collaros, would Drew Willy be more of a headline signing? I get that he's still viewed as the guy going forward and I get that we're all still excited, but there's still that air of "but he's not Collaros" to the whole thing and I just have to wonder if more of us would view Willy as a legitimate option for the future if not for missing on the Collaros sweepstakes. Seems like Drew is more experienced than Reilly was when we were so enamored with him last year and considering I was a huge Reilly booster, it makes me wonder why I don't get as excited about Willy. Saskatchewan stink? Because he comes across as option B? Nothing is guaranteed. Reilly wasn't. Collaros isn't. Willy isn't. But after thinking about it, I'm just not sure why I'm not as excited about Willy as I was about the other two. I mean really, I saw what he could do when he tore us a new one in the Banjo Bowl. We know he's capable. So what is it?

I see us signing between 5-7 of those guys. Cvetkovic and Stewart are the two I'm pretty certain on.

I wouldn't cut Cauchy. Our Canadian depth is thin to the point where we need to supply the guys we have with opportunities to bounce back. We're not exactly in a position to be picky. People are going to say "well, he's making too much money!" but really, we can afford to have a couple guys like that. Everyone can.

No, it's essentially a new contract but it's deemed an extension because technically, his existing contract was overwritten seen as how it didn't expire until Monday.

Hall really isn't that bad, he definitely appeals to me as a backup.

I'm not really that high on him, I just think that if they're going to go 3 NI receivers, even if a guy like that is semi useful, you can put him at the boundary WR and put those rebounding skills to use.

I know they want to bring Alli into camp. Could be Poblah 2.0 but could also be a starting NI receiver right out of the gate.

I am fine with Glenn, but Desjardins is going to anally pound us for him. And Lizard is going to have to take it. Which is a great idea if you're looking to solve one problem by creating another one. If that's how he thinks business is done, he'll quickly develop a reputation that is just as bad as the one we have now. We're trying to rebuild our image as an appealing football club to join up with. Signing guys only to cut them a year later for no reason other than money troubles is not how you establish that.

Quite honestly, I have no idea how you come to your conclusions regarding offensive linemen. I'd love to hear your expanded analysis on why a guy like Baboulas is a better OL than Sorenson.

BS you can only subtract from your roster at this time of year... Esks lost Krausnick to Ottawa and then signed Baboulas just a few days ago to shore up their depth at Centre. Plus Dublanko as an ST addition. I'd certainly take Baboulas over Kowalczuk. Nothing wrong with taking a look at where we stand this year as opposed to this time last year... see where we stand with FA coming. Sorry, I stand corrected. You can make acquisitions of spare parts that were discarded by the rest of the league too.

It's kind of a strange time to start a ratio discussion. This is literally the worst time of year to look at a roster. All you can do is subtract from your roster at this point, you can't add any new certainties to it until a week from now.
