Considering the post history of TUP, I'm not so sure he was kidding.

Since when do fans dictate front office personnel decisions?

JFG is primarily a ST guy, wouldn't read too much into what position these guys fill on the depth chart.

Wouldn't THAT be interesting ...

If by punishing, you mean raking in the dough with the fines. It's all about the money for Goodell and what Sherman did absolutely makes the league money.

Most Hated Football Player in the US certainly doesn't make you a bum. And it makes money for the NFL. Whether they'll admit it or not, the NFL owners must love what Sherman did yesterday.

hope O'Shea will be able to convinced him to come here as our QB coach. no thanks. can you explain why Mike? First of all, if Calvillo isn't going to coach in Montreal he's not going to coach anywhere this year. Secondly, he's never been famous for his interest in helping other quarterbacks. He's probably one of the most selfish quarterbacks in the history of the CFL and I'm not sure he really has what it takes to be a positional coach. Smart enough to be a coordinator, but I don't think he fits the "teacher" bill O'Shea is looking for. First reason makes sense. Second reason not sure. I thought I read it somewhere that he helped the 3 youngsters in Montreal re the CFL game. I think Calvillo is a hell of a QB, but his desire to finish every blowout and neglect the developmental reps for his backups is a huge red flag for me.

I'm a huge Sherman fan. You have to have guys like that in sports, whether you like them or not it makes things more interesting.

I totally didn't expect Doug Hogue to be black.

Taylor Renaud is coming back for another kick at the can? Hmmmm. I am interested to see what Brescacin can bring, he may surprise. I wouldn't be surprised if they convert Brescasin into a DB or a S. I sure would be.

Pascucci: Gary Etcheverry Bombers new DC
Mike replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The defense improved dramatically because they ditched Etcheverry's schemes. He was essentially DC in name only down the stretch, they didn't run anything CLOSE to an Etcheverry defense and believe what you want, but it's not because Etch adjusted, it's because he was told what to do by his boss. -

No they aren't. Etcheverry's major downfall is that his system always comes out looking like gangbusters and then once teams figure out his mad scientist schemes, he's unable to adjust or add wrinkles to keep offenses on their toes. He's got a great defense if you're looking to win the "Before Labour Day Grey Cup" -

If true I don't like it. -
Hard to say what off the board is at this point. Number of reasons Coombs could be ranked #9 at the moment. Did everyone in the league even know his eligibility? Either way, the rankings are going to change a million times before the draft. At this time last year, Edem was ranked tenth and some people thought on draft day he could go #1
-
Where do you personally see Coombs being taken?

I think the REDBLACKS!!!!111!! would be more interested in signing players at more conventional NI positions just because it's easier to build depth there. Can find a MLB who can play and a backup for him anywhere in the states, if you invest big in a NI at that position you better have a decent guy behind him as a NI. You mean like finding the backup that Joe Mack never did... and now left us completely screwed if Muamba leaves....? Redblacks have Pottinger as backup... plus they likely already have the roster fexibility not to be hooped if Muamba gets injured. Muamba is the best NI heading to free agency - every team will have a look... This is the most ridiculous argument I ever see made against Joe Mack. If Muamba leaves, you don't insert a replacement at MLB. You change your ratio. You think if Cornish left Calgary, Walter takes over? If Harris leaves BC, who takes over there -- Stu Foord? Shologan just left Saskatchewan and they didn't protect his backup. Why? You juggle the ratio.

I actually remember reading about this guy when I was looking up stuff on Torrey Smith. He was ranked as a top 5 safety in his draft year by Mel Kiper and then his new DC moved him to LB and he got hurt and well, he's just kind of fallen off the map a bit I guess. I wonder where we'll have him line up. I feel like he's going to be a guy they'll fit in wherever we can.

IMO, Tate is going to be a good one if his head is on right. Had a very interesting time with Maryland.
