  1. If Cortez has an opportunity to be a HC in the CFL or elsewhere or even leave to go be an OC somewhere else in the league, the Riders can't hold him. All assistants have an out clause after the season to go to other teams in the CFL or elsewhere. How productive would it be for the Riders to not allow Cortez to pursue other opportunities & they have a disgruntled coach on their hands? Saskatchewan doesn't have a choice no matter what. It's not a case of them "not allowing" him or him exercising an out clause. He's not under contract to them. He's free to do what he wants.
  2. You loved the George Cortez hire, so I'm okay with your opinion. Compare their coaching resumes before making the jump to HC and you would see why. Far as I can see O'shea was hired because ... 1. He was a good player on good teams. 2 . He coached something. You're right. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he is regarded as one of the best on-field leaders in the history of the CFL.

  4. Good for Collaros. He can explore NFL options all he wants, we may have to go after him in FA but the reality is he's very likely going to be in the CFL next year.
  5. Congrats to Henoc, only Bomber to make the squad. Let's hope he wants to get mentored by a fellow Canadian all-star MLB.
  6. thank you. It's a family tribute piece, so I guess I'll take that as a compliment even though I probably shouldn't.
  7. Wait, that's our Mike that asked that? ....I feel so....let down. Which one are you, the one with the backwards cap or the stupid glasses? stupid glasses. Sigh...I feel sad now. there I changed it. I look slightly (SLIGHTLY) less douchebaggy now.

  9. When he interviewed in Saskatchewan, he was interested in Orlondo Steinauer, Marcus Brady and Jason Maas. Right now? Today? No idea. I'm going to pick a dark horse for our staff though ... I won't be surprised if Jordan Younger retires and we hire him as a DB coach.
  10. The part I like best is that O'Shea is held in such high regard that we passed on the experienced candidate (Cortez) and the media is STILL saying it's a great move.
  11. Now that you've changed your avatar, does this mean the circus has officially left Winniepg? I think the past two days have been very important for Winnipeg's football future. I'm very happy.
  12. Either way, Collaros is going to be a Bomber. But if Collaros goes Scott over Danny V then it happens quicker.
  13. Been pretty much confirmed that O'Shea is being announced today. Heard multiple reports saying that is the ONLY thing they're announcing.
  14. Possibly. I just don't think they can outbid Saskatchewan. Not because they're not willing to spend but because Saskatchewan will be pretty much forced to one up any offer for Cortez. He's priceless for that team.
  15. I highly, HIGHLY doubt it's Cortez as offensive coordinator. I'm thinking for O'Shea's staff, you're going to see Khari or Marcus Brady as the OC. As for DC, I have no idea.
  16. Good. If for no other reason than that means Walters got his guy.
  17. Don't be surprised if Saskatchewan media leaks this. If it's Cortez or Khari, I bet they find out first.
  18. I'm thinking it's a bit more than head coach. Maybe coach + assistant HC. The ballroom at the Fairmont is a little unusual for an announcement like this, either they're really rolling out the red carpet or it's a bigger announcement than we could normally expect.
  19. No word on what but I'm guessing we announce our coach. EDITED to clarify it IS the HC announcement. Multiple sources citing it will be Mike O'Shea
  20. There won't really be specifically designed roles, they're all just job titles handed out to give guys promotions. Goveia will stay in Winnipeg during the year and scout during the offseason. McManus will be in the US full time and will have day to day contact with bird dogs, agents, etc. Sounds like McManus will eventually have authority to sign guys as well, not just recommend them. Sounds like David Siddall will be our new Hodgkinson as well.
  21. So, one guy in how many camps from different teams? He was gone in half an hour from what I read. I know the Stamps have found most of their players this way. They have camps in the US SE,SW, a couple in California & Florida. The best players from each camp get invited back to the last camp they hold where they offer the best players contracts. That is how I was told the Stamps do it. . Sure but you make it sound like these are just neighborhood walk on tryouts with no invitations sent out. The only difference in how Calgary did it and how we did it with Mack is that Calgary allows walk ons in addition to those who were invited.
  22. So they gave Dave Siddall some official recognition. Interesting, good for him. Really smart guy. 27 years old and a director of football ops title. Not bad.
  23. Whoever brought them Delvin Breaux brought in a total stud.
