  1. Charles Roberts. In town for the legacy dinner, will sign and retire as a Blue Bomber. (Just kidding, I think it's Martell Mallett)
  2. Okay, here's a serious question. Do people really understand what a game day thread would be filled with before asking for one? There's a pre-game thread where we discuss things as we lead up to the game and there are ALWAYS a few points of discussion being talked about after a game ends but I'm not sure how a 30-page thread filled with "OH ****! sit Goltz/Hall/Boltus" "god damnit, I need another drink" and "hey can someone provide some play by play while I take my laptop with me for a dump" is going to be something worth reading if you missed it the first time. There's hardly anything ever worth reading in the game day chat room, it's like having a conversation with your buddies. All the well thought out stuff comes before and after a game.
  3. Is it not absolutely pathetic that a Canadian defensive lineman performed better on our line than our starting IMPORT tackle?
  4. So basically, if Lawless wrote an article where the premise was "If Toronto would trade Ricky Ray for Pierre Luc Labbe, Winnipeg should do it" then you'd think it's a good article too? He's right. If we could trade Muamba for a proven QB then we should. But we can't. That's the point. He put no thought into the article at all.
  5. a) we use the chat you have the same ability to make threads that other posters do c) you've known this for a long time
  6. Thoughts: -- nobody's trading BLM but if Calgary was dumb enough to swap BLM for Henoc, I'd do that. -- Collaros is a FA ... why would we trade Henoc just because he's a pending FA only to acquire another one -- who said we're losing Henoc? The entire reason he's going to market is because of the new CBA and Walters already said they'll match any offer Typical Lawless crap.
  7. The one thing that stands out to me is how the article makes Reilly seem like a big *****.
  8. We will get money in the form of an increase in the generated gate revenue.
  9. Edmonton is starting 9 Canadians ... interesting.
  10. I guess when you think about it, it does make sense for them to want to move to the West. Tourism dollars from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan >>>>>>> tourism dollars from Ontario and Montreal
  11. I think you're looking too hard for reasons to complain about Burke. He's the coach, so of course he's going to have to comment on his players. He's rough around the edges, but I don't know if anything he's said is going too far. Your being an Elliott fan is, IMO, why you're still worked up about that comment. Maybe, but I didn't like it when he told the media he'd cut Dan West if they had a replacement for him either. And I'm not exactly lining up to buy a Dan West jersey.
  12. You don't think saying things like "Demond Washington will never return punts for us again" or calling one of his quarterbacks a "turnover machine" is burying a guy? Fair point but the difference is that Burke was asked about those guys, and everyone knew they had played poorly. There's no covering up a returner fumbling twice or a QB throwing multiple redzone interceptions. Nobody asked Hervey about Rottier and the average fan probably has no idea whether Rottier played poorly in relation to the rest of the offensive line. Hervey made a point of singling out Rottier when no one had ever asked about him. Not trying to excuse Burke here, just pointing out the difference between the two situations. Personally, I'd probably prefer seeing a coach who is willing to say a player needs to perform better but avoids making statements like "player x will never fill this role again" or labeling them with titles like "turnover machine", "pylon", etc in public.

  14. If you haven't read the article ... http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/09/12/burke-on-eskimos-gm-hervey-dont-drag-anybody-through-the-junk All I have to say is ... is he serious? I mean, I totally agree but for Burke to say this stuff about Hervey after some of the comments he's made about guys like Washington, Elliott, etc is pretty hypocritical in my opinion. Thoughts?
  15. So this study tells me we're the fattest, brokest, murderiest province out there then?
  16. That being said, what did you want the Rider players to do Iso? Just stand there and be pummeled by angry Somalis with baseball bats? The Somalis control a lot of the cocaine trade in that area with the Bakken Oil fields being close by, I wonder if there is more to this story. I have a hard time believing that this was just a random attack for no reason whatsoever. Some folks on RF suggested they may have adopted the initiation methods of the NS gang in Regina ... beat the **** out of a Rider and you're in. Maybe not a bad theory.
  17. I disagree. The level of play is highest in the PFC. (Prairie Football Conference) The PFC, where the Rifles play, has proven to be the strongest division in the CJFL. The PFC champion won the national championship 7 of the past 10 years, and 15 of the last 20. The level of play is much stronger in the PFC than in the BCFC as demonstrated by playoff wins over the short, medium and long term. Furthermore, Winnipeg should have an advantage in that CJFL players can practice with CFL clubs, so the proximity is there. It's tougher in BC, where for example, it is a long road from the Okanagan Sun to Vancouver. The only advantage that the BCFC has is that their costs are lower, due primarily lower travel costs. Against that the Lions financially support all 6 junior team, while the Bombers only fund 1. (Primarily through a portion of 50/50 revenue) The advantage is the rights to 6 rosters worth of players compared to 1.
  18. If thats the case they got exactly what they deserved. They = ???
  19. Daley, like Harris, just happens to be from Winnipeg.
  20. Pretty much every team is at a disadvantage to BC in this regard. I agree they should make juniors part of the draft.
  21. Wasn't one of the reasons Harris went to BC was to get away from bad influences or something of that nature? Yep.
  22. ^^^ totally agree with the premise, but it would never have worked with Harris.
  23. Gang members attacking the Rough Riders in Saskatchewan? This gang doesn't want to live very long does it? Seriously, how stupid is that. This reminds me of the time that Graeme Bell took a bat over the head outside a bar in Saskatoon. What the hell is wrong with the people of Sask? Aside from being cousin-raping inbreds of course? This is going to sound weird in Saskatchewan (imo, anyways) but it was a group of Somalians.
  24. In fairness to Smith/DA, I've heard from a number of people I'd trust about stuff like this that it's not as bad as it seems. Without starting too much of a rumor, I heard a number of Riders (more than just Smith and Anderson) were attacked by a group of gang members (including one guy with a bat) outside a club and there was a huge brawl which the Rider players essentially "won" and this one "victim" took a pretty serious beating.
  25. I had to laugh when I went on RF and saw that a couple posters thought aggravated assault meant assault you were provoked into.
