As much as I agree with him, THIS quote is exactly why Burke needs to learn when to shut his mouth. "If I had another guy to fill his spot, I'd cut him right now"
-
Given my obvious curse by now, I think it's only fitting that in order to repay Dan West for his 'contributions' today, there is only one option. I have to get a Dan West jersey.

My feelings about this week suddenly

Speaking of regret ... nice hair

You keep implying Burke was talking about Matthews. Why? -

Prediction: Who Will Be Our Leading Receiver?

I don't agree with that for a second. -
It's not possible to dress a strong backup at every single position. You're basically afforded the ability to dress a "strong" backup at 3 spots plus whatever good Canadians you happen to have as backups and there aren't many of those around the league. As far as upside goes, I'd rather have guys like Hurl or Edem than Labbe. No doubt. As a gameday backup at this point? Not so sure. Edem and Hurl will bring rookie mistakes. Labbe may not be the most athletic or physically capable but he's responsible out there and if he's called upon in a bind, he knows his assignments. I don't think your opinion of Labbe is very accurate, to be honest. He's not spectacular but that's why he's a Canadian backup. He's able to fill multiple positions if necessary. Could any of those other guys you mentioned fill the middle if called upon and still be able to do everything expected of that position as far as calling out assignments, etc? Labbe can. Not so sure those guys would be able to do that. I think it's a case where you've seen Labbe on this roster for so long and he's so mediocre that unless he's making a mistake, he's not standing out so all you remember are the bad things he's done.

To me, it seems like you have a solid case of "glorifying every other team's bit players syndrome"
-
He's developed better chemistry with Justin Palardy on those sideline attempts. That's who he's been throwing to most of the time, right?

I personally pay plenty of attention, as I'm sure you also do. I guess we're just seeing different things. I see a QB who locks on to his initial read almost exclusively. I see a QB who is so unaware of pressure that he'll take six sacks but will go an entire game without throwing a single ball away. I see a QB who has problems spotting any openings in the intermediate portions of the field. I see a QB who cannot utilize a screen pass to save his life. I see a QB who is overthrowing, underthrowing and failing to lead his receivers into passes. I see a QB who struggles to recognize any blitz tendencies whatsoever. I see a QB who is unable to inspire ANY faith that we can come from behind when trailing late in a game. I see a QB who seems to patch together one quarter of good play a game and then disappear for the balance. I see a QB who is finding different ways to lose every week as opposed to finding different ways to win. But since I'm curious, what do you see from Buck? I'm not saying there are not other problem areas with this offense. I'm saying the most important position on the field is failing us right now and in a big way.
-
Buck's 3 turnovers on our side of the field in week 1 were more problematic than any of Joey's turnover filled games.
-
Cauchy bit on the low receiver when he should've helped pursue Giguere. At least, that's what Jovon thought. I'm not sure what the coverage dictated.
-
That's the one thing I keep going back to as well. He never supported Joey and as soon as Joey struggled, Burke was uber quick to throw him under the bus. He's always supported Buck and I think it's fair to say at this point that Buck is struggling just as much as Joey ever did at his worst, yet Burke keeps handling Buck with kid gloves.
-
Which is apparently applicable to everyone except for Buck.
-
He's not.
-
I was wondering this as well. Davis seems like a pretty flexible guy you could plug in on the field, but I'd imagine Wild will be the first guy they look at.
-
Six sacks and zero thrown away says a lot.
-
Again I'm torn between the QB/RB Hamilton is facing. I'll go Sheets
-
I don't know about deep balls, but you could see plenty of receivers open in the intermediate portions of the field over the course of the game.
-
Well, put it this way ... It's not a coincidence that any time they want mobility in the offense, they take Buck out.

Melissa Martin is a good journalist, but let's keep in mind that she's fairly new and doesn't exactly appear to be football savvy. I like her articles, but her analysis on this one is way off.

Sure you do. You need to be on the same page as your coverage, knowing which lanes they're going to attempt to open for you, etc.
