Too many issues on the team, not a good environment for him. Chose to leave.
Where'd you hear this? Official line is that he had another NFL opportunity
Same person that told me he signed.
I hope it's not true, but I don't see how suddenly a day into the NFL season there's interest in a 29 year old pensioned, high min salary guy who's been out of the league for two years.

Glad they finally announced this, although I didn't know they would be adjusting the CIS eligibility as well.
That's very interesting, although it makes this draft year confusing because they're essentially going to be combining 2 years of CIS eligibility into 1 in the 2014 draft if I understand things correctly.

While I like the fact that Walters and co. are being proactive, something Mack wasn't known for, I don't like the idea of signing/bringing in guys just to say you are.
Bomber fans deserve a proven winner, someone that has the odds in favour of creating a winning tradition. No more unknowns or future's until the ship is righted.
With each passing week it looks more and more likely that Miller will stay on as C.E.O, Walters as the permenant G.M and Burke as the HC, which IMO is depressing.
Why with each passing week? What is happening here that is making you think this way?
That's what I didn't quite get either.
What were people expecting? A weekly presser to update fans on the goings-on of their GM hunt?

I now have to trust what BC has done as the final say in the Elliott logs.
But...Elliott won games for us and was exciting. Oh well...
I looked back at 2012. Elliott won 2 games for us. 2 games. One over Hamilton and one over Montreal. Buck won 2 games (Hamilton/Toronto), Goltz won the last home game against Montreal and Brink won that fluky game over Edmonton. I honestly think the legend of Elliott as this "game winner" for us has been largely over-blown. And in terms of excitement, that excitement he provided in the LDC and the away game against Calgary last year had me bent over a toilet puking, and it wasn't because of how drunk I was (though that helped).
I don't care what anyone says, a shitty defensive stand in the final 30 seconds vs. BC and an awful coaching decision vs. Saskatchewan cost Joey Elliott two wins. He did enough to win those football games. Did he win? No, but he had the lead with less than a minute to go in both of those games and even that is a lot more than anyone on our roster can say currently.

I could not believe when all of a sudden out of nowhere Goltz little TD thing became a huge controversy... He's been doing that since the get go and it never mattered one bit before, have we really run out of things to ***** about that we gotta go for what the young qb does when he scores? Cause I'm telling you right now there are a LOT of better things to ***** about with this team.
worth pointing out ... he's never done it when we're losing

Speaking of neg lists, Mike you seem to have a pretty good idea regarding whose on ours. How would you rate it?
I would rate it as one of the more realistic neg lists in the league
So when Penton had one of his CFL insiders tell him that the Bombers neg list was the worst in the League according to the insider's GM that insider/GM is full of hooey?
I think what Mike meant, that since neg list players rarely end up as anything (Remember when Taman neg listed Deion Sanders?) that our neg list have the most potential of ending up on our roster. Penton's source may be right but really means nothing.
Pretty much.
Put it this way ...
Russell Wilson, Robert Griffin and Colin Kaepernick are all still on CFL negotiation lists. So are guys like Doug Martin and Montee Ball.
Not an absolute ton of home runs on our negotiation list and I would never claim to know the whole thing, but the guys who have been on there for a reasonably long time are what I'd consider decent bets to come to the CFL (AND be effective -- No Tebows)

Go figure Tim Burke would want his players to look as bored and unemotional as he does.
Here's my question and as much as I'm asking it because I dislike Burke, it's also a serious question ... has he ever been anything but critical of his players in the media? Can anyone remember a quote or anything printed in the papers from Burke indicating he was pleased with an individual performance?
It seems like every time he discusses one of his players, it's negative.

I think Miller will stay & then hire his own GM. I'm all for Kyle staying with the team as an AGM. I'm all for Miller staying team president as well if he does the proper job search & due dilligence. Hire the best man for the job. That's all I want. Walters isn't ready yet. This has been discussed a lot here. I think the general consensus is that Walters is a bright young guy who needs to work under someone successful to learn the GM position. If he gives the position to Walters instead of someone like Tom Higgins (if he applies) or someone else with proven CFL GM credntials then you know what's up.
Really what this boils down to, Iso, is that you don't want the best man for the job. You want the guy YOU think is best.

I want Walters around but I'd rather use him as a tool to assist a more experienced GM than have him be THAT guy.
That being said, he's been active so far. I've liked the overall body of work and if this trade for an OL goes through, that COULD sell me on him even more if he comes away a winner in that deal.
He has a long way to go though.
Do you have any inkling who they are trying to trade for?
I have an inkling on who they WANT to trade for, but I don't think that's who they're going to end up acquiring.
No doubt they want Chris Best.
Wasn't Best a free agent at the start of the year? Yet another guy that Mack refused to go after?
Nope. Best was signed to an extension in 2012 that carries into 2014.

Brown is on the field today wearing Number....6! Really Levi?
They literally didn't have any other number to give him.

Former Rider QB
As per Darren Cameron.

Ed Hervey is a moron.

I think if there's one obvious tidbit to take away from the game re: the OL, it's that Swiston needs to play tackle.

Depth provides the opportunity to draft NIMPs that are NCAA juniors that you can wait on. That has been Mtl philosophy with their draft. It makes for a constant supply of o line in your system. So until you have any solid stable of NIMPs stop drafting guys that you have no idea when they will come free.
Except drafting NCAA juniors is now a thing of the past.
Aaron Rouse released?
