Without the Lions signing Rourke where would he be? Do you think he'd have a dozen NFL clubs wanting to work him out? Rourke was undrafted. He never even got a sniff as a free agent from the NFL when he left Ohio. So, without the CFL his football days would be over, Collaros said the same thing last night. Without the CFL, he said he has no idea what he'd be doing with his life other than living somewhere in the Ohio Valley right now. That is pretty powerful stuff.

The CFL changed both those young men's lives just by being here. It's a league where they could play at an extremely high level. Collaros at 34 understands it because his career is almost over. Rourke, maybe he does or maybe he doesn't get it yet at 24 because his career is just starting. However, he will someday when he looks back on his playing days after he retires.

I was critical of Rourke (maybe) missing the CFL Awards based on a story I read so I was glad he was there to accept the MOC award. He made a nice speech.

And without Rourke, how do you think the Lions season goes? It works both ways.

Gotta say about the Bomber gear out now...and maybe CFL overall not sure since I only look at Bomber stuff....is extremely low quality.  Used to get polos with stitched logos now its just vinyl press on crap and the price is 1.5x or double.  A polo is $90.

It’s absolute trash. Most teams do better than Bombers for merch. Ours is such low quality junk.

My wife and I ordered two matching Grey Cup Champs hoodies last year in two different sizes and they came in two different colours - hers was royal blue, mine was some kind of pale ugly blue that looked nothing like hers and the best answer I got from the Bomber Store was that the supplier uses two different colours so they got a mix and matched batch and if I didn’t want mine, I could get my money back (which I did)

Love the Bombers but they are light years behind on merch.

Well, there was a story yesterday where it said that he may miss the Awards for an NFL workout. I'm glad he's there. That is the right thing to do. Once it's okay for players to skip league awards for personal matters relating to something not related to health or family that'll be the end of it.

    Sorry, why?

your last post was insanity. You’re talking about HIS life. Had he missed the awards to attend to something like a workout for an NFL team, who cares? The NFL is so cutthroat that you need to utilize every opportunity you’re given.

this mentality some CFL fans have where they act as if the players owe them or the league anything is absolutely bananas. This kid played two years in the CFL, his dream is the NFL and you think he has some kind of obligation to show up for some award he probably couldn’t care less about because why?

  4. Thoughts:

Based on my complete lack of knowledge on the topic, I think Collaros is going to start next week and it’s not even a question. His limp disappeared almost immediately and he was on the post-game show … not usually going to let a guy go answer questions that soon after an injury if it was serious

Darby is unbelievable. What a great add by Walters late in the year.

Looked like Alexander got maybe nicked also.

Sweet Christ is Derek Taylor a tough listen on the post game. First one I’ve listened to all year and it was a hot mess. For a guy who is such a stats hotshot, he sure doesn’t seem to have a hot clue about the actual flow of a football game and based on some of the interactions, he seems to have absolutely zero rapport with the players.

Let’s go win a third Cup

  5. This all-star list is embarrassing for the CFL, honestly.

Bighill, Rutledge and Rose aren’t all stars. Not this year.

😂 great argument  - he had 26 fewer yards playing 5 games less.

You can say “why him?”  - but he was the best RB in the division when he was healthy.

We’ve spent the last month talking about how stupid it is that there are people who want Rourke to be MOP. This is no different.

Regarding Rourke. Maybe I'm misinformed here, or just hopeful, but does the team not have the kids best interests in mind?

I just feel like if they thought he had a good chance of getting hurt they wouldn't play him. I saw the study booch put up with the soccer/rugby players. Surely Rourke himself has seen it or something similar

I really just find it hard to believe THAT level of neglect would happen in a pro league, even if it is the CFL. It just seems strange. There's more to the story

Football teams rarely, if ever, have their players best interests in mind.

interesting tidbit from Our Man Tait:

    https://www.bluebombers.com/2022/10/28/game-preview-bc-vs-wpg-5/?utm_source=dlvr.it

Take note: Winnipeg’s depth chart features a significant change at the linebacker position, with Shayne Gauthier starting at middle linebacker and Adam Bighill moving to the weak-side linebacker position.

“For us middle linebacker and the weak-side linebacker… it doesn’t make a lot of difference in our defence. He’ll play both,” said Blue Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea. “It has to go on the paper (depth chart) somewhere. He’ll play both. Shayne, Malik (Clements)… you’re going to see all sorts of guys playing different spots.”

which prompts the question, "why change it then?"

  8. Danny Austin is that annoying message board poster who spews off smooth brain take after smooth brain take and then says  he’s doing it just for laughs and discussion when he gets called out on it … but with media credentials

Collaros and Schoen easily win MOP/MOR, Demski may or may not be the West Division nominee for MOC but if the season ended today, I’m probably voting for Gittens over him anyways. Demski is on an incredible hot streak, but Gittens is doing what he’s doing while drawing all the defensive attention in Toronto and his yardage numbers pace out slightly better than Demski’s even with more games played.

I wouldn’t blame anyone for voting Demski but my vote would go to Gittens.

Liegghio takes MOSTP easily, defence is a tough one but I think I’d probably give it to Nichols this year. He deserves it and even more than that, Bighill and Jefferson don’t.

I agree....and we did insert those 2 other guys right away...so...we could see him on roster and reps given...when we created havoc...it was when we had 4 ends on roster...and at times all on field together

I just like the guy’s activity level. Not built at all the same way but with the active hands, the motor and the aggressiveness … reminds me of Willie a bit

I have not seen anything from Prukop that would make me want him ever as a Bomber... can't read a defense to save his life.....scrambles at the first sign of trouble and, lucky for him, can't be brought down because he's a lumbering giant. I'm telling you, he's a poor man's Prukop...

Six months ago, you said Prukop was, and I quote, “terrible”.

Now that he’s wearing our uniform, he’s suddenly a better version of a young developing QB on another team? Which one of the two passes he’s thrown this year was the one that changed your opinion on him entirely?

I don’t think Cornelius is ever going to be elite, but he’s certainly proving to be capable enough to win football games if you put some talent around him.

Harrison played 2 snaps vs Calgary inside the 3 minute warning when McCrae had to go out.  Crazy too because Harrison is exactly the kind of receiver Collaros loves and that we are missing with Ellingson AND Wolitarsky out.

Glad we dressed 7 OL, one of whom didn't even step on the field.

We actually had a load of guys on D, we just didn't use them.  Barrett, Cooper, Cole all dressed.  When our D couldn't stop anything do we have a package to sub any of those guys in for any role, no?  We took that OL spot from the receiving corps.

Who is Barrett? Hassell, I’m guessing ?

I think the issue is more about the capabilities of the other 2 guys playing linebacker. They're getting pushed around.

Bighill is getting pushed around. I’m not talking about a guy who is late to the read because he’s trying to cover for the mistakes of others.

He can’t tackle. He’s probably one of the least physical linebackers in the league at this point.

  13. I really just do NOT understand our roster management and how we deploy guys on gameday

Wilcots has been rotating all year on the DL … we sign Cooper, move him to the active roster in like 4 days, send Wilcots to the PR and then give Cooper absolutely zero reps on the edge?

Harrison dressed for four games and didn’t see a single snap on offense

Gauthier and Thomas seeing as many snaps as they do when we start 8-9 Canadians also drives me nuts. Gauthier is not Kyrie Wilson and Jake creates little to no pressure up the middle. Find an American who can play.

not to mention I think we dressed 7 offensive linemen today .. why when we are SO thin on D
