  1. Because this draft is incredibly thin on OL. I could see Zack Fry being an option in the first round but he’s probably gone by the time our pick comes around. Other than that, it’s futures or reaches if we wanna go OL. I’d rather we go OL with our second rounder and see if there’s someone we can coach up from a raw talent perspective.
  2. Honestly, that was my excuse to dislike him even more. I didn’t care for him before that either. 🤣
  3. I mean, we were “cap tight” last year and were still all over Reggie Begelton when he came loose - we actually offered more cash than Calgary did
  4. Honestly maybe it’s just me, but I’m really not a big fan of this. Never really cared for DT’s style. Also drives me nuts how he looks at the game (who cares who leads the CFL in passes caught for 7.5 yards or more without getting a first down after 8 pm on Fridays) but hey, I’ll give him a chance.
  5. TJ Simmons is a signing worth being excited about.
  6. Now that you mention it, I think it’s about time Harris is banned from the league for his PED issue.
  7. Let’s just be generous here with some dollar amounts to speculate. Darvin Adams out (150k), replaced by minimum salary (65k) Steven Richardson out (100k), replaced by minimum salary (65k) Mike Jones out (85k), replaced by Tyqwan Glass (85k) Alden Darby out (100k), replaced by minimum salary (65k) Kenny Lawler out (100k), replaced by minimum salary (65k) Andrew Harris out (175k), replaced by minimum salary (65k) Drew Desjarlais out (100k), replaced by Dobson or equivalent (85k) Jonathan Kongbo out (125k), replaced by minimum salary (65k) Even speculating on what is probably the very high end for most guys there, that’s 390k. And we gave out raises to Bighill, Jefferson, Jeffcoat, Oliviera, Bailey and Collaros.
  8. Where do you think we’ve shed “damn near 1 million dollars”? People really need to gain an understanding of what a salary cap is before throwing out ridiculous numbers like this.
  9. We’re not broke. Walters always says this. So does Hufnagel. Nobody needs to know we have money to spend until we spend it.
  10. I mean, let’s just call it what it is. Harris didn’t just develop this chip on his shoulder when he became a Bomber, he’s been like that his entire career and for the most part, it’s served to work for him and not against him. In this case, it may have worked against him. There’s nothing wrong with expressing some doubt in a 35 year old who plays a position 35 year olds don’t play, especially when you’ve seen a history of ongoing issues related to your concerns. He wasn’t coming to camp in shape, the team was a bit put off because they expected more and they asked to try and meet in a middle ground. “If you’re telling us your commitment to staying in shape isn’t going to be an issue, show us” isn’t an unreasonable request. Quite honestly, this isn’t meant to shine negatively upon anyone but we all know if this was anyone BUT Harris, we’d all be in the corner of Walters and O’Shea. Wade is in the business of promoting the team. Walters and O’Shea are not. Hometown kid or not, they’re in the business of winning football games and while I may or may not agree with their choice, I understand the thought process that went into it.
  11. Harris got 165k, 40k of it upfront. Not an astronomical amount but I can’t see a way we could’ve made that fit, to be honest.
  12. Guys deserve more than one year to develop if the coaching staff believes in them
  13. Think it’s impossible to say any team is the best team on paper at this point, too much turnover and changing of key people in key spots. Not to say it won’t get fixed up, but we’ve currently got major kicking questions (which were a massive issue prior to Sergio last year), no returner and some issues in the defensive secondary plus our Canadian depth took a hit. On the bright side, we have some good pieces in the pipeline in Dobson (to replace Eli) and Patrice Rene (to replace some Canadian D depth) but they’ve gotta sign.
  14. They can’t cut him in camp if he’s hurt.
  15. I haven’t heard anything to suggest they wanted Ellingson. They got Acklin.
  16. You literally were talking yesterday about how production isn’t everything when I said Duke was on a 1200 yard pace last year.
  17. No thanks lol slow plodder with injury issues
  18. My point is Bailey was already better than Adams and used more frequently than Adams last year. Bailey, to me, has been our WR2 for an entire year now. The question is really whether he can elevate to a WR1 and I’m hopeful he can but that doesn’t mean that it’s an upgrade over Lawler. While I had no interest in paying it, there’s a reason he got 300k - he’s the best receiver in the league.
  19. I don’t really understand the comparison in any format because the premise suggests we are replacing our American WR3 with our American WR2. Adams is being replaced by a rookie, it’s more or less a straight swap Ellingson for Lawler and that’s a downgrade period. You can say Bailey would be an upgrade, but what does that matter if he was here either way.
  20. Let’s be honest, saying Ellingson/Bailey is an upgrade over Lawler/Adams is a bunch of homer nonsense no matter how you slice it lol you literally said yesterday you weren’t happy with the idea of Ellingson Not even accounting for that, there’s still the obvious that in that equation, we’ve now replaced Bailey with ?????????
  21. Pipe dream, man. Think about it. They’ve already got rings. No ring chasers here and the truth is, some guys want the money or the opportunity they can’t have here. Lets just call it what it is. No American player grows up wanting to win a Grey Cup. The whole idea of passing on money is great in theory but no way is every single player going to think like that.
  22. Can’t find the next Stove or Mike Jones or Darby or Lawler if you just ride the ones you have until the wheels fall off. We’re going to find players. There’s a reason Danny Mac and Goveia were both sought after as GMs this off-season.
  23. They’re not going to cut a guy they just resigned right now, but yeah I could see him being a TC cut
  24. CFL’s leading tackler in 2021, LB Darnell Sankey agrees to terms with Saskatchewan Roughriders as per Dunk
