For them, it's going to be a matter of them committing to rebuilding and staying the course.  They aren't one or two pieces away.  It's a fundamentally flawed team.

The question is will the management have the fortitude to stick to that plan in the face of pressure.

They have to get worse before they’re gonna get better - that OL needs a commitment to an entire rebuild, which means developing some guys since you can’t afford to just buy one.

they also need to change their entire persona on D … less selfish guys, more team guys. See you later Marshall, Gainey and Leonard. More guys like Micah Johnson.

Riders are going to have a hard time being more than average so long as they've got a game manager at QB. They should be looking to upgrade but I think they've been pumping the guy up so much as this amazing QB that they have the blinders on. The problem was never that the receivers weren't catching 50/50 balls. He isn't able to put the ball in the right spot.

Rider fans think they have Mike Reilly coming into his prime while the rest of us see Fajardo for the mobile version of Matt Nichols that he is

You can deny permission even if it is a promotion. We did it to Lapo a couple years ago when the Riders wanted him for HC. That being said I don't think we would deny him, nor do I think Madani's report is anywhere even remotely accurate.

The most glaring thing about the report is the suggestion Edmonton wants to hire a guy to do both the GM/HC job because they’re up against the cap for staff.

Why would O’Shea put himself in that spot? Sure, he gets paid but how would he build himself a staff that can succeed?

Ignoring what is, at best, incompetence...at worst, blatant bias doesn't mean we're humble. It's just giving a pass to the incompetent/biased.

Suitor says Jeffcoat grabbed Evans' facemask a twisted his head causing his injury. He didn't. Then ignores a close up replay of Lawrence actually grabbing a facemask and cranking. The crew sounds like they're broadcasting from a wake after the Bombers win. Calling it out is no different than calling out the command centre for their garbage call for Williams last week.

The team has to let that stuff go to continue performing. I'm under no such obligation.

I honestly did think Jeffcoat gave it a little twist. Didn’t catch the Simoni one but that wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

Oh Mike... Somewhere between Mike and TB4E is a good poster.

he’s probably got more to contribute around here these days, I’m just here to speak my mind and then disappear for weeks on end.

the last thing I hope for as a fan base is that we become like those sister humpers to the west that think everyone and their dog are out to stick it to us. So when I see it happening, I don’t like it. Nothing more, nothing less. Our locker room stays humble, it would be cool as a fan base if we could do the same.

oh and if you’re referring to my Arkells comment - oh well, they’re great. The only thing that sucks about them is they cheer for the wrong team

  6. BACK TO BACK COULDN’T FEEL ANY BETTER

(that being said a small handful of you sound like a whiny group of woe is me everyone is out to get us type Rider fans … gross)

(also to the people who didn’t think the Arkells was a well done halftime show that can bring eyes to the league, nobody cares what you and the dinosaurs at your bridge club think about these things)

    GO BOMBERS

  7. Edmonton can pursue O’Shea all they want, he’s not Chris Jones and I don’t see him jumping ship

Promotion? Who says O’Shea wants one? He seems to enjoy being the coach and I think O’Shea knows just as well as anyone that the level of detail and effort he puts in as a coach couldn’t be replicated if he was a GM

Structure? There isn’t any in Edmonton. It’s a mess. Culturally, that franchise is a disaster and O’Shea isn’t just going to give away everything he’s built

Money? We can pay O’Shea as much as we need to in order to match a dual role offer. If the coaching cap is a potential hurdle, how hard is it to also give him a front office salary to be VP of Daily Front Office Muffin and Coffee Delivery

Family? If he goes anywhere, it’ll be back to Ontario

  8.  Two well coached teams and honestly, while I obviously want to win, I’m happy we’re playing an opponent I can respect. Simoni is a bit of a nuisance, but I bet the Ticats feel like Alexander is our very own Simoni.

If I was a betting man, I’d have no problem taking the Bombers -6.5 today. Home crowd is going to be a factor but Dane Evans struggled against us last time he faced us and I really see no reason why this time around will be any different. Good team they’ve got over there, just not good enough.

Assuming the complainant is completely credible, which may be too readily accepted here because it’s a Rider on the other side.  “Hey, here’s a fan who chooses to get season tickets behind the opposing bench for the purpose of heckling players all the time (self-admitted) and dresses up in wrestling garb. Seems like a low key, mild mannered person would would never look to start a confrontation with the visiting team, minimize his own behaviour in inciting an incident or exaggerate a player’s  response.”

Hey, I have a picture of me standing beside Anna Kournikova at an autograph signing. Totally proves we are sleeping together!

Look, I am not saying an incident did not happen. Ball likely did go into the stands. I was at the game and did not see anything from my vantage point, and did not hear an auditory uproar from the stands behind the Rider bench which is common when an incident occurs. So being there is not necessarily proof or a way to shout down someone who wasn’t. And being there and not seeing it is not proof it didn’t happen. Lots of fans, big stadium, and the vantage point may only be available to a few select fans.

I’m just skeptical that it happened exactly the way the complainant lays it out. As was said, the victimhood portrayed in the article comes across as a bit rich to believe the throw was a violent as outlined. The kid says he was caught unaware of the throw and his uncle had to jump In to intercept it inches from his unsuspecting face. Yet he perfectly describes the “pro-level” wind-up and hard velocity throw. So did you see it coming or not?

For now, we have one side of the story, and it is self-serving (gets us a picture in the paper and publicly slags those dirty Riders to the media). Gainey’s version denying it would be equally self-serving (protect my reputation, which already has marks against it, and potential liability). I’d like to hear some unbiased third party witnesses or await the league response rather than get the “scoop” from the Freep unverified. But a story slagging the Riders for alleged reprehensible behaviour is red meat to many on this board akin to Trump saying “immigrants bring in drugs and are rapists” to people in MAGA hats. I’m not ready to buy in just yet, that’s just me and that’s all I am explaining in my comments.

My god you are just the worst

“You’re dealing with humans and there’s some very passionate conversations in the office. I’m not talking about hammering players that you have to do this, you’re listening to the players, you get a sense of where they’re coming from,” O’Shea said. “When a player is not able to play for whatever reason, what comes to my mind is the person, what they’re feeling and the turmoil that they’re going through,” O’Shea said. “He wasn’t able to travel.”

O'Shea takes a much more sympathetic tone than I do, that's for sure.

You never know what the person is going through on an individual level.

Because we are federally regulated, my workplace was required to be fully vaccinated by November 15th and we had about 16 or 17 guys above me in the seniority roster who are not working because of that mandate. Among them are a few who think that the vaccine is an excuse to implant microchips in them. I have no time for them. But I do have all the time in the world for the guy who was one of the more respected guys in our workforce who opted out of getting the vaccine because his daughter had a very adverse reaction to it that has resulted in some fairly significant heart problems. He had nothing against the vaccination for everyone else, it just wasn’t worth the risk for him.

While I may not agree with either choice, I certainly respect one reason far more than the other.

TLDR: good on O’Shea for taking the time to talk with these guys and find out the reasons for their choices.

Edit: that being said, maybe it's better with Derek Taylor now. He's legit.

Unless you’re into hearing about how the Riders lead the league in pass deflections on Sunday afternoon games where the temperature is a number divisible by three at kickoff off passes thrown by quarterbacks with two digit jersey numbers and four or more vowels in their last name, Derek Taylor ****ing sucks.
