Being told that Willie Jefferson has agreed to terms with #Bombers. The final few NFL possibilities didn’t materialize. I’m being told he’s taking less to stay in Winnipeg. Big news for the defending #GreyCup champions! @CFLonTSN @TSN_Sports @SportsCentre From Farhan

This is important it gets a new thread @Stmn_Willie_Bmn has come to contract terms with the @Wpg_BlueBombers. And he's taking less money to do so. GOOD JOB KYLE GOOD JOB WILLIE

They also have two QBs making more than our two are, easily. But how cheap is their OL? Truly do not know.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
Mike replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah, good point - should've noted that. I also agree with you, I don't think he comes back to the CFL. -
maybe that's why we didn't want him back. Missing arm would be one heck of a red flag.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

I'd consider throwing 50k at him to play after Labour Day if it's in the budget. -
Honestly, I'm aware this sounds very nitpicky but I think the Argos should face some kind of discipline for Nichols' comments. The CFL made changes to give teams a "legal" window to tamper with players and if in spite of that, you STILL get caught tampering with public comments outside of that window? There should be some kind of discipline. I think ruling them ineligible to sign Jefferson and suspending Nichols for 6 games ought to do it.

Agreed. Adams at 140k helps us still get out there and compete for Posey or Davaris or even Dom Rhymes and you add one of them + hope you get a guy in camp to compete with Lawler? Things could look way different.

Yes, the same receiving core that won a grey cup is a mess. Our leading receiver last year would’ve ranked fourth on most (I think all) teams in the league. I don’t understand why you’d try and suggest that winning a championship excludes your roster from having weak spots. Our group of receivers has been a weak spot for years. We need to address it. Yes, I understand Harris means we’re going to pass less than other teams. But still - it needs to get better and become more of a balance and if that’s the approach Buck plans to take (which it hopefully is) then he’s gonna need some better receivers.

Not really. Missing a #1 and I don’t think the answer is trying to hope both Bailey and Lawler turn out. I’d rather see one of them fill a depth role.

Looks good other than the secondary and the receivers which are both an absolute mess

That’s 2015 money for CDN starting receivers. I would imagine he makes around 150k in 2020.

Not quite. Kongbo was a big time NFL prospect before his injury. He’s an elite level prospect when healthy.

Really? Why? Believe it or not, tons of players couldn’t give two shits whether or not there’s a rabid fan base. They want stuff to do and see with their time off and Toronto has a ton of it

i really don't understand the thinking that if the Argos give Willie 300k, they won't be able to pay anyone else. It probably has the affect of limiting them from signing ONE extra big ticket guy. If you can sign Willie at 300k and a rookie at league minimum instead of two guys at 180k, that's about the extent of the impact it has. I'd pay Willie. He's worth it.

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.
Mike replied to Wanna-B-Fanboy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
3rd round draft pick in 2014 ... 28 years old ... pretty intriguing. Wont be here for a long time but might be here for a good time. -
We have a ton of cap to spend, I’d be prepared to be the top offer for Willie if I’m Walters. we have to spend our cash somewhere, it may as well be on him. No top $$$ QB, no big money receiver, no first round pick to pay this year, no big money in our secondary. We have a lot of cash to throw around.

It went right to Collaros, man
-
I’ve wanted Posey since he was an Argo and I know the Bombers have been in on him both times he’s been available so hopefully third time is the charm
-
The only real thing Pipkin has going for him is he’s mobile and he’s got 3 years of experience despite being 24. Wouldn’t hate it if he got brought in to compete and to see if he could do something with a new system, but wouldn’t be thrilled at all to hear he’s our plan at QB2.
-
I mean ... it seems like what is being forgotten in your entire argument is that we don't just decide what Collaros gets paid. He actually has to agree to it.
-
Interesting - same bonus as what Nichols got last year and even though he went down, that didn't seem to cripple our cap flexibility at all, did it?
