  1. Legit don't get the griping about the "guaranteed" money, because that term has transitioned away from "cap hit" and nobody has really noticed. Collaros' injury risk is that he's going to miss significant time with a concussion - if that happens, whatever his cap hit is minus the signing bonus is off the cap anyways, because he'll be 6-gamed instantly. I'll wait to see what his signing bonus was, but reality is that Walters and company understand the comparables and the financial implications way better than any of us do and they surely weren't in a position to have to pay way above market for Collaros. If his signing bonus is dead cap money because of an injury? Meh. That really doesn't matter too much because at that point, chances are our season is toast anyways and it's the same risk associated with ANY starting QB. You can't have one without paying big upfront dollars.
  2. I mean ... our star player last year was a guy who is not in the NFL because he loved hanging out asleep with Josh Gordon in Taco Bell drive thrus, we just signed a guy who had a run of making drunk driving a hobby and the funniest part is you keep going on like “The Trinity” would never entertain the idea of bringing in MBT ... except the Bombers are the team that brought him into this league to begin with ...
  3. I’m quite surprised myself. Talked to enough people at Grey Cup who would know and every single person said Collaros was good as gone. Curious to see how it plays out
  4. How do you ever get rid of a player then
  5. There’s also plenty of reason for them to tell Nichols ahead of time. Mainly, respect towards a human who has contributed a lot to our franchise. lots of people forget that while the club is a business, when your business is people you really need to always remember that respect goes a long way. (I know you know all this, just couldn’t find the post you replied to so I quoted yours instead)
  6. Meh. Being Canadian would help but I don’t see how this guy is a guaranteed impact add to any roster the way Farhan claims. Dont get me wrong I still hope we’re the ones who sign him but he’s no guarantee.
  7. The players know how useless John Hodge is just the same way we all do
  8. This seems kind of ridiculous. We allowed what, an average of 14 points a game in the playoffs? I'll take my chances with a guy like that.
  9. I'm pretty sure Constanza will be given a bigger role internally than just "RB coach", he'll be involved in the game planning with Buck. Don't think he would have come here otherwise.
  10. Really like the Constanza hire
  11. curious as to why TB4E thinks Streveler being a div 2 QB is such a big deal and can’t still mean he’s elite athletically. Someone should look up where Carson Wentz went to college and how little that mattered to pro scouts Streveler is an elite athlete whether he went to LSU or Red River College. That’s why the NFL wants to take a look at him.
  12. Right, but the NFL is doing a similar global initiative. That’s how this Mulumba guy is getting his shot. It just doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense for it, but I’d be happy to see otherwise
  13. Mulumba didn't participate in the combine, since he's going to the NFL (highlighting the biggest issue with this CFL 2.0 initiative) and the other Finland combine guy who played US college ball didn't make it due to travel issues.

Apparently Brian Cage signed with AEW ... really like this signing for them, he's not a giant in terms of height but he's a physique they don't really have on the roster right now and he can go with the smaller guys. Lots of matches I'd love to see ... Cage/Omega probably at the top of that list. Marty apparently isn't the head booker and is only on the booking team, but one of his main purposes is allegedly to establish a working relationship with AEW (don't see that happening)
  15. Streveler is almost definitely gone, he doesn't need to be a quarterback in the NFL, he can be an athlete and teams will find ways to use him.
  16. If you’re wondering why Canadian quarterbacks don’t get a chance, it’s because 99.999999999% of the time, it’s a waste of time. Canadians get drafted as OL and DL because it’s so much easier to learn the position than it is to learn how to play QB. Investing in potential at those positions can pay quicker dividends. There’s never going to be a QB version of David Onyemata or Efe Obada, there’s never going to be a QB that converted to football from another sport like Antonio Gates or Jimmy Graham. You need a long period of development and high level coaching to succeed as a professional QB.
  17. We have wife beaters and crack dealers and drunk drivers in our league right now. Can’t take a stance on the new guy until you deal with those.
  18. Serious question - do you think you’d care this much if your son didn’t play QB?
  19. Why not, though? It doesn’t change anything other than who you dress on O or D, it’s easy to abuse this.
  20. Sounds like it’s just a tryout, not a contract though
  21. Randy Ambrosie is honestly a ******* joke. Just read the Walters interview where he said that as it was explained to him at the beginning of 2019, the NFL window would allow you to let players (Kongbo, as an example) try out and sign with NFL teams even if they weren’t on an expiring deal. Now the rules change after the season and after we spend a first round pick on him? That should be a major point of contention for any GM in the league. Ambrosie is doing an awful job for the league at this point, but hey at least we’re gonna be able to put some guy from Finland that nobody’s ever heard of on our roster this year, even though he’s not fit to carry a ball bag.
  22. lol what?!
  23. Honestly, something is up with Jefferson if you ask me. Not sure what the situation is, but he's definitely exaggerated something along the way this off-season. In his words, his workout was such a hit that Miami cut it short because he'd shown them everything they wanted to see - if that's the case, what's the holdup on a deal? Unless the deal isn't as close due to money, fit, etc. Willie has to be on an active roster, not a PR so if he's going to break camp with the Dolphins, he better be sure he's going to make the team or he's taking a hit on money in 2020. I still see Willie coming back to the CFL, but honestly, if he goes south then I think we'll be in a good spot to replace him. Drop off is obvious, but McCalister could come in and actually have a role. Wouldn't be the absolute worst.
