If you’re wondering why Canadian quarterbacks don’t get a chance, it’s because 99.999999999% of the time, it’s a waste of time. Canadians get drafted as OL and DL because it’s so much easier to learn the position than it is to learn how to play QB. Investing in potential at those positions can pay quicker dividends. There’s never going to be a QB version of David Onyemata or Efe Obada, there’s never going to be a QB that converted to football from another sport like Antonio Gates or Jimmy Graham. You need a long period of development and high level coaching to succeed as a professional QB.

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.
Mike replied to Wanna-B-Fanboy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We have wife beaters and crack dealers and drunk drivers in our league right now. Can’t take a stance on the new guy until you deal with those. -
Serious question - do you think you’d care this much if your son didn’t play QB?
-
Why not, though? It doesn’t change anything other than who you dress on O or D, it’s easy to abuse this.
-
Sounds like it’s just a tryout, not a contract though

Randy Ambrosie is honestly a ******* joke. Just read the Walters interview where he said that as it was explained to him at the beginning of 2019, the NFL window would allow you to let players (Kongbo, as an example) try out and sign with NFL teams even if they weren’t on an expiring deal. Now the rules change after the season and after we spend a first round pick on him? That should be a major point of contention for any GM in the league. Ambrosie is doing an awful job for the league at this point, but hey at least we’re gonna be able to put some guy from Finland that nobody’s ever heard of on our roster this year, even though he’s not fit to carry a ball bag.

lol what?!

Honestly, something is up with Jefferson if you ask me. Not sure what the situation is, but he's definitely exaggerated something along the way this off-season. In his words, his workout was such a hit that Miami cut it short because he'd shown them everything they wanted to see - if that's the case, what's the holdup on a deal? Unless the deal isn't as close due to money, fit, etc. Willie has to be on an active roster, not a PR so if he's going to break camp with the Dolphins, he better be sure he's going to make the team or he's taking a hit on money in 2020. I still see Willie coming back to the CFL, but honestly, if he goes south then I think we'll be in a good spot to replace him. Drop off is obvious, but McCalister could come in and actually have a role. Wouldn't be the absolute worst.

The stupidest thing they could do is mess with our uniforms. The only thing I’d like to see is for them to get rid of the blue shoulders on the whites.

I’m just glad there’s no game so I can go now.
-
No game on my wedding day is all I care about. 6 PM kickoff for Labour Day is weird, hope they don't have to carry me into the stadium with that late start.
-
I see Mason Bennett going before our pick that’s for sure
-
Him and Sage Doxtater both deferred their draft year to 2021 I think

Rider fans trying to spin this? I never would’ve believed it! Great news for us, happy to see them back and happy Lapo has moved on.
-
Yeah it might be nice to have a 700 yard receiver or two next year

I’m not a big LaPolice guy as far as our OC spot goes but to say he wasn’t responsible on some level for our running success is up there with the dumbest stuff ever written on this forum.
-
Dunno why people think Masoli is a good fit for a LaPolice offense ... he’s not
-
Yeah you’re right, January makes more sense

Unless something has changed in the rules, I'm not sure why they wouldn't count. You actually don't need to start a certain amount of Canadians as per rule. The rule has always been written that you can only start a maximum amount of Americans, not that you must start a minimum amount of Canadians so since Hansen is not an American, he should count the same way as a Canadian.
-
They could easily fix it if they wanted to and they're choosing not to. Give teams a window to negotiate with free agents prior to the opening of free agency. Lets players determine their worth, lets teams structure their budget and roster. Easiest solution but in all honesty, who cares. Just open free agency the Monday after the season ends, what difference does it really make. Baseball does it.

Yeah, you're also supposed to pay for what you take from the Liquor Mart but look at how that's going. Tampering is never going to stop and complaining about it is so blah, since every team (including us) does it. I mean really, you don't think we tampered with Harris or Demski? We 110% did.

Well i mean yeah obviously. lol

Yeah, I think Maas is a good OC and this is a good hire for Saskatchewan. But if it goes wrong, it'll be amazing because I hate Maas and I hate Saskatchewan.

As far as finding a rotational player with Kongbo if Thomas retires ... we already have one. Hansen.

It's the overall package. Teams in the NFL are looking to innovate and do something you either don't see or don't see often. They're not looking for a QB or FB or RB, they're looking for a football player who can provide flexibility and offer a threat that teams have to think twice about to defend. There aren't many players in the NFL who can line up as a runner, passer or receiver and hurt you. Streveler can.
