The National Combine starts today.

That's not accurate. Those games were in his NCAA days, not pro. He played very little in the NFL during his time there and bounced around quite a bit.

I can't see there being any way Jennings gets bumped up to anywhere near that before the start of the season. -

If there was an absolute stance by management to ensure Jennings played out the entire contract that he initially signed, then you could argue lost goodwill, but he signed a 3-year contract and has played 1/3 of it. He was fortunate enough to get in some substantial playing time in his first year and thus now has that standard to live up to. What would be gained in evaluation over TC and the first handful of games is the ability to gauge where his long term opportunity truly lies with the team. Patience could pay off for Jennings anyways if the Lions offer him a new contract in the middle of this season. He'd stand to get a better deal at that point than what he could potentially get right now. -

I'm curious to revisit the numbers to be perfectly honest. I'm basing this purely on my observations as it stands. Either way, I still wouldn't be ready to talk dollars and cents with him yet. -

I'm not sold on Jennings enough just yet to go back to the bargaining table. He had a killer start and then regressed once defenses could figure him out. That can't continue, and I would need to see proof of this before new numbers were discussed. I would have no problem re-upping him after a third of the season or so has passed and he's continued to progress. Having said that, If Jennings truly is going to be their #1 guy, they'll get him restructured. They can't risk him walking away on bad terms after his contract expires. -
WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters today announces the club has agreed to a contract extension with defensive back Chris Randle. Randle is entering his third season with Winnipeg, and fifth in the Canadian Football League. He amassed 37 tackles, seven special teams tackles, one interception, and one sack in ten games last season, before suffering a season ending knee injury. In four CFL seasons (59 career games), he’s accumulated 148 defensive tackles, 44 special teams tackles, two sacks, eight interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) and two fumble recoveries. “Chris Randle is one of our most valuable players, on either side of the football,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “What he brings to the football field, his intensity, athleticism and skill, along with the intangibles that he carries inside our locker room, all of those are hard to find in one individual. He’s a key piece of our organization moving forward, and extending his contract is very key for us.” Randle was acquired in a trade with Calgary the day before free agency opened in 2014, and immediately signed an extension with Winnipeg at that time.

Last year, 11 players from regional combines were extended invites to the National CFL Combine. Seven of those players then went on to be drafted in the 2015 draft. 12 of the first 13 selections from the 2015 draft participated in the National Combine last year. I'm not sure if this has been posted anywhere but I thought it would be a good read to explain why restructuring a contract might serve best for both parties involved: http://3downnation.com/2016/02/25/cfl-players-restructure-contracts/ -
Uniform changes with Adidas may not be dramatic
TrueBlue replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The fact that they are still called the Jets is irrelevant when discussing this IMO. Jets or not, Hawerchuk never played for our current hockey franchise. I'd consider the Cleveland Browns under a different light altogether because of the settlement they agreed on to to keep the city's history and team name when they were brought back into the NFL. The Jets had no agreement like this in place. -

Finally after 6 seasons my Dressler jersey is now a wise investment. -

I would kind of argue the name "Hawerchuk" (see: Dale Hawerchuk) on a modern Jets jersey too. It's nearly the same thing as putting "Modano" on a Wild jersey. -
Word on the street is that weekday games are favourable to corporate partners. See where the league is going with this?

I find it hard to believe that if the CFLPA had more international player reps we wouldn't still be talking about this right now. If "unwilling" or "unable" players became willing and able, the CBA they signed last season isn't anything more substantial than what it is now.

Weekends not as popular for the league as they once were. Quite a few more Thursday night games, plus: -3 Wednesday night games -1 Monday (non-holiday) game

Winnipeg byes are week 9 and 18

Ooops. Deleted.

Riders start the season on the bye. Sounds good to me.

It's almost gotten a little too easy-drinking. I'm rather bored of Farmery right now. The Blonde at least has a little more flavour.

For those thinking that we'd potentially sign Henoc here, that flicker fizzled right out when he signed in Montreal last season. #movingon
-
My guess is he gets released and Edmonton signs him.

Look for a few different MB micro brews coming this year sometime: -Peg Beer Co. -One Great City Brewing Co. -Torque Brewing Co. -Barn Hammer Brewing Co. Peg Beer Co. will be a brew pub, opening very soon. You may have already heard of it. Excited for all of this.

And if they had signed Laurent that would be pushing a mil right there for 5 players. -
Who do we have to replace Peach just yet?
