I'm not freaking out about missing on Burris. I'm freaking out because it's obvious that we are not in any way, shape or form a desirable destination for players who have a choice. And that's a problem. And you're surprised by this?

I would like to think that Glenn's grace period would be just as large as Burris'. He's done more in the last few years than people probably expected of him.

The only logical conclusion I can come to is that this trade stemmed from Kito not wanting to give up the jersey number.

I agree. I would have liked to have seen him involved this season a little more. I truly believe he still has the skills to be a decent pass catcher.

The truth is, nobody except management actually knows what the Plan A truly would have been if all players 3 players had hit free agency at the same time. We only assume Collaros was Plan A because he was the first one available.

The salary cap is almost 5 million, not 500,000. Why is there this constant notion on Bomber message boards that the Bombers can not afford more than one good player? I don't understand. It's all speculation Mike. It's not that we can't afford more than one good player, but we are also paying good money to a chunk of mediocre players too. We'd probably be very surprised to see what some of the players on our team are making. Everyone has their idea of where we are at in terms of cap space. There's not an "idea" of where we are at in terms of cap space right now. Other than bonus money paid this year so far, we have 100% of our cap space. Not spent yet, but accounted for currently.

If signing Burris has an affect on what kind of offer we put on the table for Drew Willy, or what we can rightfully afford to match for Muamba, then it seems kind of counter-productive to do so, IMO. There are still priorities to deal with.

Interesting ... More guaranteed money ? Probably more guaranteed money. PBBs probably were a factor, including numbers of games played/won, which is where I see that Austin might have played that up to his benefit.

If we sign Burris, what's more important, signing Willy or signing Muamba? Could be a big challenge to get both.

Hamilton was a good team despite having Burris at QB. This crap going around that Burris is still even a good starting QB because he throws for a bunch of yards (although he stats look a lot better relatively because the 3 best QB's in the league were all injured for long stretches) and took Hamilton to the Grey Cup is garbage. Look at how much he turned the ball over, look at how the confidence in him from the coaching staff in Hamilton waned as the season went on to the point that they aren't even interested in having him back. Yes he had a very good East Final, but a season is 18 games long. It's as crazy as saying Buck Pierce is a great QB because he led the Bombers to the Grey Cup. All signing Burris as a starter would do is stall QB development in Winnipeg and kill our chances of contending when we host a Grey Cup in 2015 or 2016, similar to what our dance with Buck the 4 seasons has done for us. Signing Burris would be a massive disappointment for anyone who wants to put a team that has a chance to win a Grey Cup on the field anytime soon. We certainly can't maintain what we currently have though, can we? Damned if we do and damned if we don't...
