  1. I wouldn't be completely surprised if they swiped Jade.
  2. Cap ≠ System
  3. Sure hope we re-sign Muamba now.
  4. I’ll go out on a limb and suggest Pete Costanza. 6 years as the Stamps receivers coach, so he knows the ins and outs of the league. Has had some success in the AFL as an head coach and OC. Not to mention having a coach here with the last name Costanza, would be pretty amazing all by itself.
  5. Any surprise cuts coming? After hearing him, you can't help but get the feeling that there may be some roster movement happening sooner than later,
  6. I think it was closer to when he said "Grey Cup".
  7. Is it really though? Hire good coordinators and what more does a head coach need to do? Cortez may be a brilliant Xs and Os offensive coordinator but he sucked balls as a head coach. It's a real different skill set. Need to be a leader first and foremost. I hope you're at least half-joking here...
  8. From the sounds of it, everyone is on board with the forthcoming announcement. I’m relieved it’s O’Shea and not Cortez, quite frankly. The personnel under him will be critical though. I will feel more content and at ease once we know who those gents will be.
  9. LeFevour is just another version of Justin Goltz... Well….a better version of JG, he will be their protected QB, according to Drew Edwards's mock protected list: •QB (1) •Dan LeFevour: With Henry Burris set to become a free agent, there's no reason to protect him in the draft. LeFevour now has two years of backup experience and played a bigger role this season. - Marcellus Bowman should be protected and may end up playing MLB - the CFL has decided not to make the protected lists public. http://scratchingpost.thespec.com/ This, to me, is where the CFL always fails... why not make the lists public? CFL needs fans, stats/info/anything helps fans get hooked. If it was me, I'd have neg lists, contracts, etc all accessible to fans - that and I'd pay more stats guys even before we pay the refs, ha. I also think that a few teams are going to get 'busted' by leaving FAs unprotected... if Burris was left open, why not sign him and use the next two months to sign him. The lists aren't being made public for good reason. For the respect of the players, it does little good, and much more potential harm. How would you feel if you, as a player, knew you were unprotected, didn't get picked by Ottawa, and the had to report to your current team for training camp the next season? Players and management sometimes have fragile relationships to begin with so why add another element of friction to the problem., It would also create a media frenzy. Reporters would be drilling GMs/coaches ad nauseum, "Why did you protect this guy? Why didn't you protect that guy?" Who wants to hear all that? Does a GM need to be defending each and every decision he makes? Bottom line is, it could create unnecessary conflict between many teams, and that's not something the league would be prepared to deal with on the grand scale. I'm quite sure the players are going to find out if they were protected or not. I'm quite sure the teams won't be openly disclosing the lists to their players. If management finds it necessary however, they may explain their decision privately to a select few players out of courtesy. That is their prerogative.
  10. As a community owned team, we will never find a suitable structure with a publicly elected board, given the state of the franchise as it is right now. We are at a critical junction right now, and laying the groundwork properly for a successful future is top priority. The decisions made over the next 1-2 years are going to be vital, and that's not something to take lightly. The average member of the public, casual fans, die-hards, most of them just do not get it. If we get this wrong now, the sustainability and viability of this club could be put into question sooner than later.

  12. I see no reason to suggest that we should be terminating Ken Moll. He was here when Walters was AGM, so why would it change now?
  13. I am just glad that we are finally addressing our lack of presence in scouting the US market. If Danny Mac is our chosen guy to do this, and wants to put in the time, then I am all for it.
  14. Because....? Because a year ago, Walters was a lousy ST coach...........today he is GM of the football club. Miller is taking a huge chance hiring him to GM. It could ruin Miller's name in the football community. If Miller just wanted to focus on the off-field stuff and not be involved in field ops, wouldn't he want someone in the GM chair that was more experienced? Which leads me to think he wouldn't hire Walters if he couldn't exert considerable control over him and the day to day decisions. Bottom line, unless Walters is the Doogie Howser MD of the CFL, he owes Miller huge for this. Walters would be lucky to AGM anywhere else. But hey, if we win, I won't complain. You need to give Walters at least a little bit of credit. Inexperience, and previous background aside, you look at him and you see someone who is younger, probably a little naïve, and you assume he is probably easily manipulated or convinced. You see Miller coming in at will, pulling at the strings, making him do whatever he wants. Any other GM wouldn’t even attempt to be worked that way, but Kyle Walters is so grateful for this opportunity that he’ll personally insert Miller’s hand up his you know what. I think most of us can actually take more reasonable approach to this and look at what he has done for the team in the short term and can relate to what he speaks of in his plans to improve the club. You can sense the sincerity in his words, and know what his intentions are. He’s not reading from any cue cards. Walters has had the opportunity over the last few months to work with Miller and get a sense of his character and he probably gets it more than anyone else. There’s a similar line of thinking between the two of them now of what needs to happen for the team to succeed, and how to get there. Once the mutual understanding of each of their positions was established, making Walters the permanent GM was just a formality.
  15. Because....?
  16. I don't see Andrew Harris on that list. I thought he was a free agent.
  17. This is complete and total speculation that it's Walters/O'Shea vs. Miller/Khari....ridiculous that we're treating it as fact. People love to guess about these types of things. Plus isn't it more entertaining to think that we have a GM and and CEO that are butting heads?
  18. A lot of movement happening within the coaching ranks on almost every team. The only team I could see not having any movement at all would be Calgary.
  19. Regina to Bismarck = 565.3 km Winnipeg to Bismarck = 666.5 km
  20. Impressive. http://www.esks.com/article/chris-jones-named-head-coach-of-the-edmonton-eskimos
  21. So how is it that an HC and an OC are being hired at the exact same time? Doesn't O'Shea get to hire his coaches? I wasn't there, but my assumption is talk of coordinators came up in the interview process. You'd think people would be thrilled that two guys with NO connection to eachother are going to be working on staff together, but somehow even THAT is ruled as fishy. I didn't say it was fishy. It's just not what we're used to with how coaches are hired and then the assistants are brought in later.

  23. Why do we assume that O'Shea would hire Khari as OC?
  24. Trades and transactions can happen anytime between now and December 9th. The 8 teams have to submit their protected lists on this date and the freeze is on between December 9th and the day of the draft, December 16th.
  25. Collaros won't end up in Ottawa because Marcel Desjardins has gone on record more than once that they will do everything to avoid drafting free agents, especially at QB.
