I don't think they could sign Collaros for a salary where they could keep both with out seriously damaging other parts of their roster. Yeah it's either Ray OR Collaros next season. I can't think of any scenario at this point where both are on the Argo's roster next season.
-
Toronto may have a tough decision to make this off season depending on how deep they go in the playoffs, and how much Collaros is a part of that. The guy is 5-1 as a starter. It might be a risk that they are willing to take. I honestly think it will not be as easy a decision as some are thinking it will be.

Good runningbacks ARE a dime a dozen. Great ones are harder to come by. Regardless, there is no saying that if they had Sheets in there that they would have scored. Horrible play call.

Agreed, except that the drop off in talent when 'you just slot another NI in somewhere else and play an American at MLB' can pretty steep. Not so much when you go from NI OG to NI OG, if you've been drafting and developing NI OGs. This stems from the argument about whether or not when you draft, you draft based on need, or based on the best player available, which I won't get into. I am just saying that on 42 man roster, you have 3 QBs, and 19 imports, leaving 20 non-imports. What position those 20 non-imports play, I could really care less about, as long as it fields you the best possible team. And as Mike concluded, if your roster management is good, if a non-import comes out, you have go the flexibility to move another non-import into another position.

GDT -- Game Day: Does Anyone Still Care?
TrueBlue replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
For me it's really hard not to. I'll cheer the same way and be as passionate as possible sitting in the stands whether we're 12-0 or 0-12. I'd take a bullet for this team. -

Short of winning out, there's not many people out there that will suggest he gets any consideration next season. Not after this. -
Kohlert is starting at strong side wideout, where he has played the last 3 games. Because Edwards and Denmark are better... you usually try to play your best guys at SB So you're wondering why Kohlert is not playing SB and Etienne at WR? Kohlert might be marginally better than Etienne because he has more playing time, but I don't think it's a far stretch to say that Etienne can't perform just as good in that position.

Distance wise alone, Renaud had a higher average, but to say he out-punted Shaw is not accurate. If you paid attention to the hang time and direction, you'd see Shaw was way ahead.

Fight to keep him, yes. But again, if he doesn't want to be here well we need to move on. We have to focus on the future. Would I like him to be in our future, yes. If Muamba's agent holds the Bombers up for ranson or as leverage to get more money off another team then let him go. We can easily replace a Canadian MLB with an American without missing a beat. On the OL, losing a Canadian like Labatte hurts a lot more than if we lost Muamba as the OL is considered a Canadian position & MLB an American one. You build your Canadian talent from the OL out... See, this is a theory that will soon get debunked. There is some great Canadian talent out there in every position. It doesn't matter if it's o-line, receiver, linebacker. You build your Canadian talent by finding quality Canadians at any position. Saying the MLB position is an American position is like saying the RB is an Amercian position. It's an old-fashioned way of thinking in my mind. Now If you had said the word "primarily" I could have accepted that.
-
If your attempt is to fill MLB with a rookie american, I'd argue it would be tougher to find one of the variety that would be smart enough to adapt to the game as quickly as expected. Receivers on the other hand, can adjust and learn a lot quicker.

I’d like to see Matthews and Hall back, but in all honesty it’s not terribly hard to recruit either position. We’ll see some good competition in camp either way at those spots. I would say an adequate replacement could be found for Matthews a little easier than it could be for Hall. Muamba’s situation is a little more tricky, although if they have already offered him Shea Emery-like money, without any competition of knowing what his value is, I would guess we aren’t prepared to stop there, and will compete hard to re-sign him.

So, your prediction then, is 2 playoff games. Bold. Can't even blame "the keys are right next each other" on that one.
-
I just can't see it happening. Not with 8 games left.

Bottom line here is, if we have a GM ready to make some moves, there will be no excuses for not being able to upgrade our QBs before the start of TC next season.

Henoc/extension/tidbit In Penton Piece

I respect that he wants to wait. Significant changes with contracts and salary cap could be coming, so it makes sense to see what happens before putting pen to paper. Hopefully it doesn't end up being a bad decision on his part. Either way, I expect us to be in the bidding come time when the market determines his value. -
He has said in some interviews that he would like to go back to being a GM and/or HC. He's also applied for a few openings in the past few years as well including here after Kelly and Bauer were gone. Interesting... Sorry TB, but this is pretty common knowledge. The CFL job is a gig until he finds something else coaching wise. If not, it's a nice cushy job to fall back on. But Higgins does want to coach again. I'm not sure why your apologizing here. I questioned your statement because I hadn't heard anything about it. I don't claim to know ALL of what goes on in the CFL, so if there is something I haven't heard, I'll ask about it. That's part of what a message board is about. Besides, if it was "common knowledge" then shouldn't I be the one apologizing??

Given that he's a FA after this season that would be a rather *ahem* high price. Maybe pull an Eskie move and deal a 3rd or similar for the exclusive right to talk to him? But obviously that doesn't guarantee anything, and given the Ottawa complications he may be smart just to wait it out and hope for a bidding war to develop. Considering all that, giving up a first rounder should be considered. Or maybe a second rounder and Henoc Muamba...then Toronto can work on signing him till Feb. 15 I don't even think you need to include a 2nd rounder in that trade with Henoc. Collaros for Henoc straight up.

Ahh revisionist history. Burke was tapped as HC, because he was the most highly touted "next CFL HC" around the league. People were TERRIFIED we were going to lose him if we didn't promote him. Yeah, true to an extent so i will give you that. We know the best connected & most successful ex head coach & GM works in the CFL offices as Director Of Officiating & would jump at the chance to be a HC &/or GM again. We'll see how that goes. How do you know this exactly? Just wondering if this has been made public somewhere recently, because I sure haven't heard it yet. Sure haven't heard what? That he wants to coach &/or manage? That's pretty common knowledge. How so? I am curious to know where this information comes from.

That would be a stretch IMO. It would all depend on who we hire. Lots of new HCs have kept guys from the previous staff so why would that be a stretch for a new guy here to keep someone regarded as one of the best ST coordinators in the league. Richard Harris worked for 3 different HCs here is just one example. This is a good point.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big Dickenson fan too. I just think the path we are heading down, a new coach might just clean house and start fresh. Again, it depends on who we hire of course.
