  1. They did a complete shutdown for 2 months when it all started. It was down to almost 0 cases, but then came back with a vengeance in summer and especially fall. All that spring lockdown did was delay the inevitable.
  2. Gotta stroke the thoroughbreds - rather than kick them around like jackasses.
  3. Also, no organized sports for all schools - only walks or runs in the community.
  4. And the North is finally stable again.
  5. Can you just imagine the mercury levels and the flooding...
  6. I am honestly willing to try anything. There is no possible way I can read to my students - while wearing a mask.
  7. Especially while running errands in winter & you're in and out of the vehicle - just the worst.
  8. I am the same - any tips for preventing glasses from fogging up due to wearing a mask? This is especially a problem for me when I'm reading out loud to my students.
  9. I guess then it's just something the local public health nurse randomly came up with.
  10. That's the information we were given at the start of the year - the directive has not changed. So, according to Public Health, the answer, yes. I mean, of course it's not perfect, but it is better than remote learning - kids can't wear masks all day without a break - no one can. It takes a great deal of time and effort to get mask wearing done properly.
  11. Fact: social distancing > masks
  12. Appearances.
  13. It's becoming less and less about protecting people from a virus. I can't have a visitor in my house, but I can meet them at Tim's for a coffee Only 10 people can attend church, but 100s and 1000s can attend schools Virus protection my ass (donkey reference)
  14. If those are your rules, I am good with that. I my classroom, the seating 6 feet apart, so they don't have to wear masks if they are seated. For some, this not good enough, even though it is exactly what the public health orders for schools specify.
  15. This is all very frustrating from a school perspective. We have to make kids wear masks most of the day, while most people no longer care.
  16. 32% should mean many of the most vulnerable are vaccinated - which should decrease hospitalizations.
  17. Some new and encouraging info.
  18. Thank you. It is about time someone said this.
  19. It's pointless when dozens of flights come in every day. The lack of local restrictions did not cause what we're seeing now.
  20. Helle has earned the right to occasional flatness.
  21. They have had a year to figure it out. To say they are being held to a higher standard than leagues who have played actual games...is ludicrous at this point.
  22. Since someone took the time to this to do this: 1. Who is the mode? 2. Taking Jean Beliveau as the mean - we need to know how many standard deviations above the mean Marleau is. 3. We also need some form of weighted mean. Like, whatever the dude can provide. 4. Also, living in a visual society - we need all of it plotted on the normal curve.
  23. I finally watched it. There's nothing unnatural about the fries...other than the fact that they're dried out and have nothing to grow bacteria with. Fried, flash frozen, fried again - there goes 99% of your moisture. But I'm sure they were hard as a rock after 2 weeks...
  24. I think it would be better if they released info when they are certain about it. There's really no need for anyone to know that a third dose 'might' be needed. It's TMI and it feeds the skeptics as well as the 'and you thought vaccine would protect you' crowd.
  25. I don't know as much about the rest of their food, but I know their fries have fewer preservatives than those of other fast food chains I know some people who work at Simplot in Portage, and what they have to say is very interesting. KFC fries are rather infamous amongst the workers there...
