  1. It is discriminatory because it leads to stigmatization. There are 3 Hutterite colonies with Covid 19 cases in Manitoba, but some people act like there’s 100 colonies infected. I’ll probably only experience it online, as we have no reasons for essential travel and will be staying home.
  2. Of course it’s a fact. But in MB, for all other groups, only the health region is mentioned - that is also a plain fact.
  3. We are safe so far - we’re locked down for two weeks and have had no contact with people who tested positive. But some of the cases have become very serious. Some people describe it as “there were a couple of days where I didn’t what to live.” I hope the number of people who are taking this seriously - is rising exponentially. It’s time to stop the silliness and the conspiracy theories.
  4. What meant was, there are Hutterites who don’t want to get tested, because if they’re positive it will be announced as another Hutterite case. Perception is 9/10s of reality.
  5. The way this is being reported is discouraging people from getting tested. The government needs to clue in at some point. In other news, cases remain confined to 3 colonies.
  6. Eider know about that.
  7. That is how I see it as well. I understood the original intent and the point being made, but it spiralled out of control soon afterwards.
  8. All references to a racial slur have been removed. Please do not use the slur or anything related to it again. Any continuation of this usage or anything related to it - will result in an immediate suspension.
  9. She also a top notch reporter and researcher. She finds out who the primary source is, and that is the first person she interviews. I am good friends with the people she mentions in the article.
  10. True. Mostly from those who know very little about us - nor do they really care to find out.
  11. You seriously believe Hutterites are not being criticized over this? I mean, maybe not so much from the media, but we are hearing it with intensity from the general population. One example: We got a call from Shopper's Drugmart just today. Several of our members had prescriptions to pick up, and they wanted just one person to come pick them up. Which is hilarious, because that's what usually happens anyway. In another colony, someone's dentist appointment was cancelled, just because they're a Hutterite - no positive cases in their community. There's been other harsher stuff that I'd rather not mention.
  12. I’m not hard done by, not at all. 20 of 29 cases in MB are Hutterite, as we speak. I’m just not sure how you arrived at the conclusion that we get a ‘free pass’ from MBB. I was critical of my own people right from the start, and you will see that if you look back. You have cited examples of foolish actions, and I agree with that. The good news is, those cases are confined to 3 colonies and they are in complete lockdown. But that’s MB in the past week, that’s not all across the prairies. SK has a significant number of new cases in the north, spread from an oilfield outbreak to indigenous commuters. That’s the the part I had a problem with.
  13. If I’d wanted to exclude MB stats, I would have edited them out of the post I quoted.
  14. @Floyd These are the numbers I was referring to - they were already in the thread. There is nothing else that needs to be said - it's all clear enough. To clarify once again: 340 of 962 Saskatchewan cases are in the far north. Calgary as seen an increase of over 150 cases since late last week. How that can pinned on one group of people as being the major cause of it, is beyond me . And this is exactly what you did - you said to not do so would be ridiculous.
  15. You said there were excuses being made for Hutterites. So, if I wasn’t making them, then who was?
  16. Once again, stating facts becomes deflection in your eyes. Saskatchewan has the most cases in the far north, while Calgary is the hotbed in Alberta. To continue saying that Hutterites are the highest contributor is ridiculous, because it’s not what the numbers show. For the record, nothing you say will stop me from stating facts. If you keep stating false opinions, I will keep on combatting you.
  17. I can say one thing about Saskatchewan: there are no Hutterite colonies in the far north.
  18. Well, I’ll tell you what I find interesting: I have come on here and stated things exactly as they are, making an effort to not hide anything. But you somehow see that as making excuses - I didn’t make any. I answered every question that was asked and provided the facts. I have no Hutterite contacts in Alberta or Saskatchewan, thus I could not comment accurately on what exactly happened there, so I chose not to.
  19. There would still be 8 new cases in MB.
  20. I am not making excuses for anyone who didn’t follow the rules - 2 to 3 people was a reference to how it happened in MB. Most colonies in MB were in complete lockdown, from a March 23 to June 21, in our case. In fact, as a precaution, we started a further 2 week lockdown yesterday, essential travel only and no visitors. However, some colonies / individual members were embarrassingly stupid. Unfortunately, they infected others; 2 of the 3 infected communities actually followed all the guidelines. It only takes a few idiots.
  21. True, but the timing of that does not add up, because it was 3 - 4 weeks ago. The true story is, he went back to Alberta again after the funeral, on a business trip. A week later, the **** hit the fan.
  22. Because it isn’t true. It was 2 - 3 people who didn’t follow the rules, not an entire group. Most Hutterite communities in MB have followed all the public health guidelines. Also, no one identified any visible minorities on Corydon.
  23. There is no direct link between that large funeral and the cases in Manitoba.
  24. And the all the Hutterite cases stem from travel to Alberta.
  25. Not only was racism alive and well, you might also want check out the rigid class system that most people lived under.
