THE DRY SUMMER... It has been a drier than average year / growing season. We had good moisture in the fall of 2018, and a winter with heavy snowfall. Even with that, it was almost too dry to seed in the spring. Minimal but timely summer rains produced an average crop in most places, with some areas of the province (eg. Neepawa) experiencing a complete crop failure. As for the current moisture: yes, it is wreaking havoc with the harvest and has cost several billion dollars in crop damage so far, with the damage to the soybean harvest still to be determined (eg. we still have 400 acres still out there, but soybeans are a tough crop). However, without this fall moisture, we'd be hoping for plenty of 'wet snowfall' (some snow has low moisture content) in order to seed again this coming spring. To conclude, the fall moisture has been both a blessing and a curse - it will have a significant impact on the MB. economy. Anyone who still thinks this wasn't a dry year...should talk to a farmer in the Neepawa area...they'll set you straight in a hurry.

Back in summer, sure, but not recently.

Even with fairly heavy snowfall from winter, this was a dry year. We've had years with 800 mm of precipitation - this year is not even close. A wet September doesn't suddenly make it a wet year.

Andrew Harris no longer breaking tackles
Mark H. replied to Brock Streveler's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Pointless thread - locked. -
Do you think it’s possible - for every QB that is recruited by the Bombers to be fool’s gold?
-
Don’t know what your game is - don’t waste your time quoting me.
-
Fair comment. Yesterday, by the end, it was clear that even the OL had given up.
-
If they run Harris down in the red zone, they would have come away with FGs and at least one major. This running attack at the 12 yard line? What the heck, let’s throw it deep, that’ll fool them for sure.
-
I don’t see any reason why he’d do it. I mean, he probably knows Lapo’s O but Lapo’s O doesn’t work.
-
For once, they didn’t have the pieces to replace the off - season exodus.

3 stars plus hh more blue then gold in Regina
Mark H. replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
1. DL - some of those guys came to play. 2. Secondary - minus the 3 errors, just outstanding 3. Nothing more HH (horny hat) the transparency in the offensive play calling has reached the point where it is beyond belief. That hitch to Lucky? Even Bob Irving is criticizing it already. -
I’m beginning to believe Lapo has 100% control of the O - nothing else makes sense.
-
True. And Walters / O’Shea could have taken the quick approach and loaded up with Vets. Hell, maybe (maybe!) they could have signed Henry Burris and already won a cup. But then, what happened in 2004 - 2005? In 2019, we have a team that is 100 times better, with a solid foundation to build on.
-
I only went back that far to show that O’shea’s .500 record is not solely on him.
-
That’s true of American positions. You need your base of Canadian players and new draft picks, as well as a competent QB. After Taman and Mack, we had none of those, and I was quite frankly surprised we were able to hire someone as competent as O’shea for HC. Imagine the team during the Mack era losing a high caliber starting Canadian OG - it would have been an absolute disaster.
-
Hardrick is playing hurt - what else is wrong with the OL? Or do you mean more Canadians starting? Secondary looks to be on the way up - just Rose trying to do too much in the 4th Q today.

Ok, so now you believe the cupboards were bare after all. I believe the team has a respectable record after his first two years. And you certainly don’t have to agree with me.
-
Who’s pretending? Good coaches and talented players no longer wanted to come to Winnipeg. To say that wasn’t true is just being willfully ignorant. What were you planning to fill cupboard with?
-
When it comes to Blue Bomber history, he who cannot draw on the last 11 years is living from hand to mouth. Look at where this team was at after 2008 & 2009 - the cupboard was bare. Other than a 2011 GC berth, we had absolutely pathetic seasons after that. O’Shea brought success and competence to this team. To include the first two seasons just to make the point that he is .500, given the mess he inherited, is misleading. Other changes need to be made, but the coach who turned this team and organization into something respectable needs to stay. Meanwhile, we can keep lamenting our 9 - 6 team. In other news, the Grey Champion lost to the predicted tire fire.

When the D plays like they did tonight, Nichols wins, period. The team has lost 3 games in a row, which is bad enough, but in two of those games they beat themselves. Montreal a failure by the D, Sask a failure by the O. And whoever is complaining about the D tonight needs to just go to bed.
-
How does anyone knock the D today?
-
That’s a lead.

You just might have duck & chuck Reilly coming to town...
