  1. Agreed. Plus also, DB's in the arena pretty much just keep the play in front of them Cool name - though
  2. He's not the first first coach who was more comfortable sticking with a vet - Dave Ritchie anyone?
  3. Posted this in another thread - but it's bloody good and it fits here: The current winning streak simply doesn't happen with the kicking we got last year. With a conservative offense he is often asked to make long kicks - and he delivers. He's a big part of why the conservative O game plan is working as well as it is. When you know you can get three points, you're less likely to throw risky passes or run high risk, high reward plays.
  4. Ok, I'll let myself be arsed and provide some rationale: Most Outstanding Player - Matt Nicholls I don't care how good Harris, the OL, & the D are, we wouldn't be winning without the intangibles Nicholls has brought to the table. Game management, ball protection, executing the game plan, and just being a leader. Most Outstanding Canadian - Andrew Harris He has to show up somewhere on the list. Plays with grit, heart, and talent. Pass protection, running, and receiving - he's a golden ratio breaker Most Outstanding Defensive Player - Kevin Fogg He plays a difficult position and has his receiver locked down most of the time. Other players have more picks and more tackles, but they flat out don't throw the ball Fogg's way very often. Most Outstanding Lineman - Stanley Bryant The left side of the offensive line is locked down 95% of the time. You don't achieve that without a shutdown left tackle - period. Most Outstanding Special Teams Player - Justin Medlock Obvious choice - winning streak simply doesn't happen with the kicking we got last year. With a conservative offense he is often asked to make long kicks - and he delivers. He's a big part of why the conservative O game plan is working as well as it is. When you know you can get three points, you're less likely to throw risky passes or run high risk, high reward plays. Most Outstanding Rookie - Taylor Loffler A rookie - bringing fear from the safety position - impressive. Good reads, good reactions, positionally sound.
  5. I know. IMO it has become too commercialized. They need to go back to delicious & fresh product that got them to where they are today. I had stuff that was definitely out of the freezer.
  6. They've branched out from that...
  7. Ditto - was a rather important fundraiser
  8. Just as an aside - Danny's product sure ain't what is used to be
  9. 1. The Riders have had close games against other teams 2. Nichols is playing better than Reilly, Burris and Harris. He's executing a conservative game plan, putting key drives together at the right time and not turning the ball over 3. Considering where this team was at - I don't believe you're not excited yet
  10. Great game. Their commentary on Lefevour was hilarious. First he's the best QB since Doug Flutie, living up to the 18 on his jersey. Second half...looks like Drew Willy will be starting next game.
  11. I've got some ocean front property...
  12. I'll wager it's both of those coupled with the coaches' philosophy
  13. I'm thinkin' there was a TD in that durr 7th period
  14. Yeah the Bombers signed Greene after the Riders cut him - got at least one more effective season out of him - guy was a shutdown guard.
  15. I'd be curious to know how AlexGauthier graded out for the Bombers - that was an excellent OL
  16. I remember Bob Irving sounding like someone shot his dog
  17. He's a good blocker - better fit for Lapos dink & dunk gameplan
  18. I don't disagree. I'll go to the Manitoba Museum rather than the Museum of Human Rights The Titanic exhibit in Wpg was one of the best displays I've ever seen
  19. I'm not sure why that would matter?
  20. We do have to admit that there were games where teams were marching up and down the field - the difference in the game was usually getting turnovers at the right time.
  21. Goaltending used to be, not anymore. Most Stanley Cup champs are capable of winning with average goaltending - and they do.
  22. They've done a lousy job protecting Ray and have now acquired another pocket passer.
  23. I'm pretty sure he's #2 on depth chart
