  1. That does it - I'm calling it the Superb Owl from now on
  2. Agreed. O'Shea isn't an expert on QBs, so he will delegate that responsibility. The way the coaches allowed Drew Willy to get beaten-up last year to the point where the QB lost confidence is worrisome though. Ultimately that is on O'Shea, even if Dalhquist was QB coach. Also, I'm sure the club would like to have Brohm back and his pending departure will be a loss. Nothing O'Shea can do about that though. Worrisome indeed. But they certainly seem to be actively doing something about it.
  3. I don't get the dime a dozen argument at any position. Don't be obtuse...there are many positions, especially RBs and LBs, that are extremely easy to recruit for out of the US... For an average LB or RB, sure. For a dominant player at those positions, hardly. If it were, every team would have an Adam Bighill.
  4. My prediction: O'Shea will let other people touch the Quarterbacks
  5. I don't get the dime a dozen argument at any position.
  6. The pooh hoodies have been ordered...
  7. I think it'd be an okay decision. Both are nice guys, but too mellow. I still think keeping Morley around as a 6th or 7th OL would be smart, with all the injuries the past few years on the OL. Morley is Canadian, reliable and versatile. I don't get that argument about January. He was the only guy who would do anything when something would happen to our qb. I can't think of any Bomber Olineman who has played with more burr under the saddle than January since...Picard's first stint? Brandon Dyson? January is not making any friends out there. Alex Gauthier played with a nasty streak, as did Dan Goodspeed.
  8. It's good for livestock exports, which are common in the hog and beef industries
  9. In Alberta we have a deficit of $6-7 BILLION dollars.... Just this year. You guys have it good. And the Flames want a new arena? Good luck with that. This has been brewing for the past two years and its gonna get worse in Alberta. There are problems with a one-source economy, and the forecasts are for at least two more years of low oil and gas problems. Just wait until the tar sands start shutting down- they take years to get back up to full production. It's going to affect the whole country - Alberta is a huge source of transfer payments. However, one bright spot nation-wide is a fairly robust agricultural sector, due to higher commodity prices.
  10. The Als aren't the power house they once were, but they certainly know how to keep an effective OL intact, season after season.
  11. The excessive tax cuts we've seen across the country in the past decade = good politics but bad policy - Brian Mulroney
  12. Based on whose on the roster right now: LT:?? LG: Greaves C: Picard RG: Goossen RT: January Clearly there's still work to done.
  13. I guess all the media crushes on Phaneuf are finally over. I still remember how awesome it was going to be when the Leafs acquired him. The Flames have screwed up more than their fair share, but trading Phaneuf was one thing they got right.
  14. Colour me unsurprised, after what we witnessed in the trenches this past season. Hmmmm maybe a few more decent OL will shake loose due to cap issues...
  15. The lack of scoring will sort it self out - a good group of young QBs in the league right now - just a matter of time till scoring goes up
  16. Picard is mediocre at this point in his career, most of us are well aware of that. Canadian OL who are better will not be available. How many FA periods have we spent wishing for one? I don't see anything wrong with starting Picard at centre and keeping Morley as the 6th OL. But what the heck, we can always go with American pylons again.
  17. I agree. IMO their are two primary factors: 1. An extra down allows them to play more smash-mouth football. Draws, dump-offs, screens, et. al. 2. The insane amount of time that teams can just burn off with the extra down and the 40 second clock.
  18. Canadian OL depth is razor thin on this team. What happens if Morley gets hurt and Goossen isn't ready to step in as the every day centre? Ditto with the two OG positions.
  19. Well, we did get one more good year out of Andrew Greene in '07. IMO the Bombers should make an offer
  20. The idea that they don't must be quaintly west coast. I got my info from Bluto, and from the experience of attending a couple of games at Skydome.
  21. They will find their target market inhabiting the suburbs, the Argos need to give up on the idea of playing downtown and make it easier and more affordable for people in the surrounding suburban communities with kids, a dog and a yard to attend games. Precisely. People with kids can't be getting home at 1:00 A.M., which is pretty much what happens after Argo games.
  22. Digging a trench for the next onslaught...as we speak...
  23. Agreed. IMO, salaries on the rise is good for the league. We will see better talent up here in the long run.
  24. It's important to be reasonably competitive while the team is being built. For that reason, I think Buff will stay.
  25. After what we witnessed last night, I would not trade Bogosian until they have 7 D-men who can legitimately start.
