I agree. IMO their are two primary factors: 1. An extra down allows them to play more smash-mouth football. Draws, dump-offs, screens, et. al. 2. The insane amount of time that teams can just burn off with the extra down and the 40 second clock.

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard

Canadian OL depth is razor thin on this team. What happens if Morley gets hurt and Goossen isn't ready to step in as the every day centre? Ditto with the two OG positions. -

Well, we did get one more good year out of Andrew Greene in '07. IMO the Bombers should make an offer -
The idea that they don't must be quaintly west coast. I got my info from Bluto, and from the experience of attending a couple of games at Skydome.

They will find their target market inhabiting the suburbs, the Argos need to give up on the idea of playing downtown and make it easier and more affordable for people in the surrounding suburban communities with kids, a dog and a yard to attend games. Precisely. People with kids can't be getting home at 1:00 A.M., which is pretty much what happens after Argo games.

Digging a trench for the next onslaught...as we speak... -
Agreed. IMO, salaries on the rise is good for the league. We will see better talent up here in the long run.

It's important to be reasonably competitive while the team is being built. For that reason, I think Buff will stay.

After what we witnessed last night, I would not trade Bogosian until they have 7 D-men who can legitimately start.

Yes...we see what you did there

IMO dominant import DBs are not that easy to find. The CFL would be full of Chris Randalls if they were -
I always found Buck to be more of an ad lib QB who liked to hold on to the ball longer than most

How much help did Hutch have in the third vs. Boston? I think that's a fair question. There's a ton of pressure on both goaltenders right now.

Poll: Who Should be the Bombers' New DC?

It's as good as done - do not underestimate the power of MBB -
A very impressive win, excellent start to Christmas Break

The wit is really dry, right now...... Yes yes, quite

Wonderful news - and nice to see that you've recovered with your dry wit intact. I shall raise a glass of Chivas to you this Friday night

Give Etch their DL to work with and our D would have looked much better. Except Etch doesn't want big guys. He wants small versatile guys, so he wouldn't even want them. Our lines were virtually the same size. Chick is 250, Foley 256, & George is 277 at DT. That's almost identical size to Peach, Vega, & Bryant. What do your linebackers weigh? We could tell you...but then we'd have to kill you...
-
You've said that and pretty much everything that's possible to say. Heck, you called him expendable after he'd played a good game on D. We get what you're saying, but there's more than one perspective to your argument. For example, it's important to be reasonably competitive while building for the future.
-
Expendable: of little significance when compared to an overall value, and therefore able to be discarded

I don't know if we can pin the failings of the 2014 offence on Bellefeuille or the OL. Is Bellefeuille's offence (and Willy) effective with a league average OL or better? Does the offence (and/or the QB) make the OL look worse than it is. Personally, I think both statements are somewhat true. Bellefeuille's offence can't truly be evaluated if the QB is having to improvise as often as Willy had to in 2014; but the guy was a statue in the pocket as the season wore on. I think if we're throwing money at problems, I throw it at the OL and the DC. If the OL improves, Bellefeuille's offence MAY be better in 2015. Etch's scheme is a known quantity, and HE brought in the players he wanted to fit in the scheme. That's not a failure you can lay at the feet of the players. It's the OC's plays that tell the OL where they need to go. According to January, the schemes were not very good and made the OL look bad. And from what I saw, I tend to agree. You can give MB all the best OL in the world and I bet our offense will still suck. Bellefeuille made Calvillo look like he was washed up and the montreal OL look useless in 07 that says a lot right there. I have to agree with that - Calvillo took some serious punishment that year - particularly from the boys in blue and gold. -

Sounds like a CFL DE to me. -
We tend to forget how good the D was that year, under Mark Nelson. It's a bit sad that the excellence of that group was overshadowed by Kelly's antics.
