  1. That's the problem...I emptied him...
  2. Better keep starting 2 - 3 Americans...but improve the bloody scouting...
  3. I'm convinced...it's time to do some serious research on ISIS. I don't know very much about them beyond the basics, but they will clearly impact us in a big way.
  4. It didn't help...but its impact was blown out of proportion by Adler and Cloutier...IMO
  5. It seem Oulette drew some of Judy's votes, while the collapse of Steeves gave more votes to Bowman. I'm a little stunned, but quite happy to be wrong.
  6. Sign don't mean a whole lot. In one federal election out here in the Interlake, you would've thought Ed Schreyer would win for the NDP based on signs and hype. The election wasn't even close.
  7. . What does that say about Ricky Ray and his zero MOP awards in 12 years or so? Unfortunately Ray had his best years while playing for a terrible Esks team. The guy was absolutely amazing, throwing for 5000 yards behind a porous OL and no running game to speak of.
  8. If I've learned anything about elections the last few years, it's that talk radio hype and debate means very little. Guys like Charles Adler are usually preaching to the choir. Do you really think anyone who listens to Chuck Adler ever had any intention of voting for Judy W in the first place?
  9. The general lack of respect for Damon Allen is hard to understand. especially coming from people that seem to know something about football x's and o's I'm old enough to remember him looking at his first read, not finding it open, and taking off. And if we all just sing kumbaya, there goes the debate.
  10. facepalm statemetn of the year. Remember the Argos' '04 Grey Cup win? Allen was basically a game manager for them Umm he still won it, and at how old... Pretty impressive considering how banged up he got because of his playign style. 394 passing TDS and 93 rushing tds vs only 278 interceptions. 4 x Grey Cup Champ. 3 x Grey Cup MVP 1 time CFL MOP Yet he's a lucky, average, long long time QB according to some of you. Ridiculous. It's like you think to be a good QB you HAVE to be amazing at sitting in the pocket 90% of the time and have a completion percentage over 65. 11,920 career rushing yards. It's not a fluke he won 4 grey cups, it's harder to defend a guy that could do what he did as well as he did, then it is to defend an Anthony Calvillo. No different than saying a scrambling QB is better suited to the CFL. It comes down to game planning and having the right personnel surrounding him. With that many interceptions a QB should have over 500 touchdown passes. And no, I'm not going to google any of Calvillo's stats.
  11. Doug Flutie is the greatest QB and player the CFL has ever had.............. not a pocket QB.Warren Moon, Jackie Parker, Damon Allen, Russ Jackson, I can go all day, were not pocket QB's. True. But more recently they have been pocket passers. My main point is that we shouldn't be expecting a QB to make up for a subpar OL, given how hard it has been to find a franchise QB. The reason that the sub-par O-line looks so sub-sub-par is that Willy is standing there like a statue in Central Park and the pigeons are converging upon him. The sub-par O-liine was no better last night until Marve showed up and invited the Stamps D to run a steeplechase event were he was the rabbit. This also opened the holes that Cotton ran through so convincingly by spreading out the Stamps front 7. 1. I suspect Bighill and co. will be prepared and quite happy to chase Marve next week. 2. Ray plays a style similar to Willy. All Willy needs is some play makers who can be the rabbits. 3. Considering the beating Reilly took, I guess Willy would be dead if he'd played for the Esks last year.
  12. Minus Flutie I'd pick the pocket passers no questions asked. Can = opened
  13. I just get annoyed when people imply Willy is a lesser QB because he's a pocket passer

  16. Calgary has clinched 1st place.
  17. Well good for you...the whole point is that Calgary has been solid for longer than 2012 and we haven't...so what is your point again? You know who John Murphy used to work for...yes?
  18. Difference between Collaros & Marve for me is that Zack has 2 good knees. Marve has had multiple ACL surgeries & because of that may not have a very long playing career. That's the point that scares me a bit but even with no knees he's a heck of a lot more mobile than Willy, who, but sorry, as far as I'm concerned is a much as fault for the hit's he's taken as our oline is. He is a pure pocket passer and doesn't (yet) have a quick enough release. I like Willy - but in an albeit very small sample size Marve is much better (and it's why I wanted us to get Collaros so bad in the off season, because of how he can move the pocket - though I had no idea what Willy would bring to the table when we first signed him) Collaros at the start of the season was being asked to stay in the pocket. He was not effective until the right adjustments were made. You can look at CFL or NFL...the best QB's are pocket passers. Ray, Calvillo, Brady, Manning, et. al. Sure there are some effective scramblers, but the QB's who have had the most long term success are the pocket passers. And really, if you look at the OL the Bombers put on the field this season, it was ridiculous that they didn't perform better with three Americans starting. If they were starting 4 or 5 Canadians, you could argue that the OL is a long term project. But the fact is they aren't, and they should be finding better OL down south.
  19. It was beginning to look like they couldn't even be average...tonight they were at least that.
  20. Say what you will about Marve and Cotton. Rookies mistakes aside, the OL kicked it up a notch tonight
  21. Great thread boys...it made my day. Nice to read something rational and non-twitter for a change. But before we knock the offense too much, let's not forget Willy taking charge and engineering some of those game winning drives.
  22. Some good reasoning here. But really, you're just proving that people biased about their passions. Your question isn't all that hard to answer. O'Shea didn't have a better option at running back...quite frankly he still doesn't.
  23. Bowman might win, but not easily. Name recognition and incumbency are #1 in Municipal politics. Judy is not an incumbent but she is very well known. She wouldn't get my vote, but I my prediction is she'll win.
  24. With an effective running game and more threats in the long to mid-range passing game...this would not have been possible. It's clear that teams are keying on sweeps, hitches, outlet throws et. al. Basically anything where the QB gets rid of the ball quickly. Early in the season plays like that were going for first downs and even touchdowns (eg. Denmark in BC). Those options have been taken away and the Bombers can't really respond with anything because they can't consistently give the QB enough time.
  25. It's a curious thing. Its been said over and over that Etch wants a certain type of player on D. However...most of the starters on D were already here last year.
