You know the difference...Calgary couldn't possibly suck. I say let them keep doing it...motivate the Bombers even more.

True, but Ray has better accuracy, particularly in the short game. His deep balls don't look all that great, but they tend go exactly where they need to.

So I think we know who the better RB is now

Speaking of reality...we have two separate camps as usual. 1. It's Grigsby 2. It's the OL Both need to improve...going forward... That's not entirely true. I'm not absolving the OL, sometimes they just don't do enough, my reasons for not liking Grigsby are pretty straightforward and not based on his numbers or lack there of... it's because he runs east/west too much, he stops before he hits the line too much, he doesn't run with any kind of power or authority, he sucks at breaking tackles, he's good at running into people and I don't think he is very good at making people miss. He is just frustrating to watch. All true. I could write a similar post about the OL...but I won't. -

'Not a huge factor' is the key phrase. Anyone who can't get past what the media, says, does, and writes, or lets the media influence decision making, shouldn't be managing a pro sports franchise. Classic example was the Kevin Glenn situation. Not to mention whole Troy Westwood gong show. -

Are we? But on a serious note. I think that the atmosphere that MOS is building, will bode well for us in the future. I'm sure FA's talk to players on other teams to try and get an idea of the team environment before they sign. Plus it's a small league and everyone knows everyone else's business. All I'm trying to say is it's not the media's fault. I would agree. Stop giving the media ammunition and they'll stop stirring the pot. Besides, MOS can use them to create an 'us against them' mentality. Simply put, prove them wrong. -
This game was somewhat like our game against the Riders. Ray gets harassed and hammered all night, then throws the killer pick when the game was still winnable.
-
Don't know that I agree with that. He's got plenty of competition from the rest of the defense. Washington gets a mention, Leggett probably deserves a mention, a healthy Sears might get a mention too. Wild for my money is just a damned solid football player too. This D has a lot of talent on it. Say what you will about Mack but the man knew how to find americans who could play in this league. Not so good at picking coaches, but as a talent finder he brought a lot of good pieces to this team. Given the commitment to starting 2 - 3 Americans on the OL the last couple seasons...the American talent should be better there.
-
No one seriously thought this team would be 6 - 3. Now we have folks predicting 3 - 6 because of a tougher schedule. They could go either way, or they could rise to the new challenge. Remember, they are well coached, have a good QB on an upward curve, and have some legitimate play makers on D. Mixed in with all those close, last minute, come from behind wins are two dominant ones...game 1 in Toronto and the game in B.C. I shall take the positive route and predict at least 5 more wins.

I heard that too. Bottom line = execution

Ah yes...he hasn't had a chance yet...give the guy a chance... -
Good posts so far. Another: I love the way Kohlert seems to be open for big catches when they are badly needed.

good story, thanks. That was a fantastic play. I say, that's outstanding...no way we win the game without that play.

I just...didn't see Cotton doing anything different... -
1. Clarence Denmark. Great catches and 100% effort every game. 2. Drew Willy. Improving every game...playing well with inconsistent protection 3. Chris Greaves. For all the heat the OL takes, the left side is much better when he's in there Consider this the MBB positive challenge...you know you can do it...

Not to mention going on and on about every single coaching decision. Especially the punts out of the end zone.

How good is our offensive play calling?
Mark H. replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Those turnovers didn't just randomly happen. They were net result of Willy being under pressure the entire game. -
I thought punting out of the end zone was a good call considering the opponent (especially on the first one with Brink still in the game). The odds of Montreal scoring a TD were low...an FG is only one point more than a safety. The Bombers were lights out on kick coverage all night.

call me crazy, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Als wind up 2nd in the east. Hamilton doesn't impress me, especially with all their qbs out and in a contest between a team with a very tough defense and no offense vs. and all around bad team like Ottawa give me the team that at least has the D. I wouldn't be surprised either, they have a capable QB now, and that defence is super tough Until a good defense has several games worth of film to watch...

Did you see the play early in the game where Grigsby stopped before he hit the line of scrimmage and was tackled for a loss? That was absolutely embarassing. At least Cotton was running forward. Hell the play he got dropped hard by Hebert at least he picked up 8 yards first. If that was Grigsby he would have got maybe 3 or 4 cause a guy would have got a hand on him coming through the initial hole. Grigsby went back in during the 4th quarter and actually stopped ******* around going sideways and running tentative. He actually started to make a decision and commit to it and ran with more authority and go figure he made some plays. I question whether he can do that all the time or not, but if he can then good, but if not I like the way Cotton runs better. Overall I think the biggest issue with the running game last night was the play calling. They did very little to actually give the backs a chance until late in the game, but I can not stand a running back who is seemingly afraid of contact. Cotton got flipped back a few times...looked nasty. It seems we still have two distinct 'camps' on this issue. Should be another good week of back and forth entertainment. If you watched Montreal's run game, it was basically the same as ours. Watch any team's running game, no matter who they are. It's mostly straight up, make a block, hit the hole. -
At any rate, I'd like to thanks Rids for telling us the whole story.

Oh, so now it's a societal problem. Then we would drink a lot of beer...

You can really only fully see his "MO" in the last three years as this is truly the only time he has been running the show. He has been quite adept at compiling mid to late round draft picks and these have been decent players. Taman does like to pay for veteran talent but it is hard to argue with his recent level of success. Not to mention some key cogs were already there or were not very hard to acquire. Durant, Labatte, Picard, et. al. It's easier to be a genius GM when the previous regime has already gone through the QB growing pains.
