  1. Had to cancel some Flair flights yesterday. We got 55% of our costs back, as credits
  2. Treaty education coming to Manitoba Schools. https://news.gov.mb.ca/news/?archive=&item=59968 The end game is a compulsory grade 12 Indigenous Studies course.

  4. Well, it gets even more complicated when the persecuted later become the persecutors Short answer: each situation needs to be viewed differently Example: we can still feel the reverberations of residential schools, and they cannot and should not be ignored
  5. Schoen
  6. Yep - we've also lost count of how many times he's been deceased
  7. To an extent - but they were also used to fund all those lavish churches and cathedrals - they were definitely Luther's biggest grievance against the church.
  8. Not quite. The church as a whole was guilty of the practice of selling indulgences, not just corrupt individuals. Luther got many things wrong - but he was right about that one enormously prevalent fact. Beside his alcohol consumption, he was also extremely anti-semetic, among other thigs we could mention My people stem from a group (Anabaptist) that rejected all of Luther's ideas (or the lack of them)
  9. Maybe not Pagans after 313 AD, but the persecution of minorities after the reformation, was beyond the pale.
  10. Big players in the Canadian Hog industry are shrinking their herds: Olymel, Hylife, etc. I doubt Maple Leaf will be far behind Most producers are assuming they won't turn a profit this year
  11. I will be checking that out. Frozen pizza is prime fuel for marking marathons.
  12. Moved some posts to the religious beliefs thread.
  13. Yes. That is the root of the rift between Christianity and Judaism. People were forced to choose one or the other - or be persecuted Literally, the persecuted became the persecuted. (I prefer the German: die Verfolgten werden die Verfolger)
  14. Which is the main reason why there so many churches today. The original intent of the reformation, was to get back to what the scriptures were really teaching. But everything was already so corrupt, that it only took hold in very small groups.
  15. I think - I shall give this thread a temporary hiatus
  16. If it's rarely done right, then my statement is at least partially true.
  17. So basically - no one is doing it right.
  18. Those positions you speak of have mostly been cut - it would seem that's not working out very well
  19. I don't know how you arrive at this conclusion. Most unions got 1% - 3% annual increases under the NDP. Nurses even took a wage freeze at one point The current increases are not lower, they are higher
  20. The lessons that Titanic has to teach us - will.not be learned by viewing the wreck. Auschwitz, on the other hand ..
  21. Quite disturbing, using the final resting place of 1500 people as a tourist destination Research is one thing - tourism is altogether different
  22. If he can't even make it close in Portage Lisgar - it's time to read the writing on the wall
  23. True. But they had daytime hosts who were just a touch too extreme - for mainstream media. But sure was entertaining while it lasted
  24. The problem with any government going - is that the good MLAs usually also exit.
