What I find most exasperating is the NDP claiming that they help low income people. They had 17 years to raise the income tax exemption but it still sits at $8000. Just bloody ridiculous.

The GST is a fair tax because it is not applied to basic necessities and many businesses and farms are eligible for rebates. It's a consumption tax; if people don't like it they can choose to spend less. 

Particularly if he's given time to throw deep on a regular basis. That's one of Willy's real strengths 

It's a fair comment. It's probably worth noting that Chuck Roberts was not known for catching the ball out of the backfield. IMO Jones' best release valve was #85 

Mark, I agree on the OL comment. Was just musing that maybe those things help compensate a little. Hopefully we find a good RT and figure out the RG spot.

It's not that simple.  Montreal brought in Trestman as HC in 2008. He recognized Calvillo's ability as a quick release pocket passer and developed a max protect system where Calvillo would thrive.  Willy does not have the quick release or accuracy that would allow Lapolice to implement a similar system.  
Unless Chungh continues to improve, Neufeld moves to 6th OL, Goossen steps up and they find an American RT in camp, I wouldn't expect much better results.  I don't agree with everything the author wrote, but I do agree that a QB like Willy needs an OL that can dominate in pass protection.

The 'need' to start Canadians on the OL is a tough mindset to change

The OL problems would go back further than '08, but the Ottawa expansion draft provided some stop gap solutions in '06. Then there was Alex Gauthier who never seemed to miss a game at LT while he was here

As I've said before, protection first   ratio second. Unless the Canadian OL really step up, they should consider 3 Americans on the OL. If that means Bucknor has to start in the secondary, they could go with a second Canadian receiver. 

Too true. I just hope the OL talent and protection schemes are being given their due diligence this time around.  I would say our entire season pretty much hinges on this. They seem to have improved the talent pretty well in most other areas. Perhaps they are counting on Harris to be a difference maker in the protection schemes, and that's why they've mostly stood pat  with the current OL.

Suffice to say, Bomber fans are not even a little surprised by Chick's contract.
 

Yes. Charlie Roberts did rather well with subpar Olines over the years. An RB who produces YAC consistently would help the OL a great deal. 

One winning season is all it will take to fill the stadium again. Just give Manitobans a reason to cheer - they'll be back.
