In my view, Walters' strengths have been as follows:
    1. International OL: in previous years, you wondered why they bothered burning an import spot
    2. Effective Young Canadians: Chungh, Goossen, Loffler, Demski
    3. High impact FA acquisitions: Harris, Bowman, Dressler, Medlock, Bryant

I don’t think it matters how he’s acquiring American OL. It’s just good to see shutdown tackles and guards out there, if they’re going that way with the ratio anyway.

    Yes, either extreme is bad.
My point was that you have to mix some longer passes in with the short stuff, otherwise your opponent will just come up and shut you down.
Hopefully they mix it up and include ** some ** longer passes and attempts when coverage is tight.

I honestly can't recall the last time a D decisively shut down a half decent O, gave up less than 20 pts. and won the game on their own merit, those memories seem to be from a different era when teams relied more heavily on the running attack.  The only recent examples I can think of is when a team is handicapped by inexperienced or pathetic QB play and spends the majority of the game going 2 and out and giving the ball away consistently, do those really count as staunch D victories?  I'd like to see a D dominate a game to the point of winning it, but I won't believe it's a viable possibility until I do.

Agreed, I wasn't berating Hellebuyck for the less than .900, he faced far more high danger scoring chances, and there weren't too many soft goals.  But Fleury's .940 or whatever it was against the Jets was a significant difference in the series.

Multiple sources are the key.  Oat straw pellets are an excellent energy source in rural areas.

Hellebucyk faced for more situations where he was one on one with a shooter.  Fleury usually had support in front of him; when he didn't, the Jets scored most of the time.
    That's part of the < .900 SP%

Doug Flutie was a pretty good ad libber as was Tom Clements. The difference between them & the other guys at qb was the fact they could see the whole field & both were very smart players. They both made things happen.
