  1. I hear ya. Spending more for a Saturday Leafs/Bruins game in December than I have all season for the Boatmen.
  2. Not so much a desire for conformity, but it's been a recurring theme for me that I've been a late-adopter of new technology and then when I finally take the plunge and become familiar with it, I have a "Why didn't I do this a long time ago?" moment.
  3. I hear ya. My business partner wears his to jog with so his earbuds can link to it and he doesn't have to carry his phone on a run. Not a problem for me. Not running anywhere. My knees and back survived decades of sports without an injury, there's no chance I'll be doing anything now to risk them as I enter my 50s (in two weeks).
  4. Dude was getting fubar'd last week and I was sitting there hoping that his coach would get the damn hook out already. I'll say this about Crum, he's game alright. One of those sacks, he actually got hit about 4 times on the play before he finally went down.
  5. And the East v West matches went to the East as well. Rare event in recent seasons.
  6. It's so tempting to stand pat.
  7. Nope. No big deal. Honestly, we'll see in a few weeks if resting players and going vanilla hurts us. But it'll be interesting to see what comes of it since there are a few folks hereabouts who are on the record that you can't do it and that the Argos will be bounced on Remembrance Day. Time will tell.
  8. Wait... this is acceptable now? Someone was trying to impress upon me how foolish it was and how you can't turn it back on afterward...
  9. Curious if anyone else is in my situation with Smart Watches. I used to not be able to leave my house without strapping a wristwatch on. Had a nice little collection going. But as Smart Phones became ubiquitous, I broke myself of the habit since timepieces were made redundant by them and found that I enjoyed not wearing one. Especially not having to worry about damaging it in my workplace. But now with pretty much all of my friends and colleagues wearing their Apple Watches, FitBits, Pixel Watches, etc and selling me on the virtues of them, I'm starting to wonder if it's worth my time and expense to get one and learn its use?
  10. Under the current regime, I'd agree. You guys will be competing for GC trips so long as that crew is intact.
  11. But still winning them anyway, Yeah, RD should be getting lots of credit and the people praying for an Argo choke job on the 11th might think twice.
  12. I'll trust your word on this... but it seemed passing odd to me that he only rushed the linemen at Dukes and never sent a blitz at all. 0 sacks then, and 0 sacks if they try that weaksauce again.
  13. Fair enough. Likely won't see it on the road in Sask or Ottawa... But you never know. The chance to potentially be 16-2 is still alive. They may end up lining up vanilla and switching to mocha almond fudge if they're in tough.
  14. Because tipping how you would play against us gives us hints how to beat you. Football has changed. It's all about tape, tendencies and pre-snap reads. I'm a bit of a dinosaur myself, but I've come to recognize that this is how it's done now. Best practices, to borrow corporate jargon. Showing your whole hand is just dumb. Hall isn't dumb. So he sat his defence back in plain Jane mode and didn't go after young Mr.Dukes.
  15. You keep saying that... So why did your D go vanilla on us?
  16. Is the distinction between "sucked on purpose" and "not showing our hand" really that difficult? It really is obvious if you watched (or go now and rewatch) last night's game. If you think Toronto's defence in the first half, which was as bland a vanilla Cover setup with nothing being disguised at all, was the same as the second half, football may just not be your game.
  17. If you watched the game, you saw the defence change completely in the 2nd half. They came out, attacked and got 7 Sacks. I guess being behind at half-time at home lit a fire under them. And if anything, it disproves the common "you just can't turn it on and off" theory that was bandied about.
  18. For just offence, we've traded the lead back and forth with Winnipeg all season. For total points it's us. Home game. Wanted to be 9-0. Still sat some guys and hid the playbook (until the second half when Coach Mace decided he'd had enough BS and when on kill-mode). Yup.
  19. Our offence played very sub par (settled for 6 FGs from Bede) and we still put up 40. The defence went up a gear in the 2nd half and defended our perfect home record. Wild freaking stats: -16 straight games of having better starting field position than opposition. -our offence has fewer plays than every other team but we have scored more points than anybody.
  20. We've some injuries at receiver (Gittens, Phillips, Johnson) so adding Agudosi gives us cover. Hasn't lived up to his stature yet. By his measureables he's a freak, but he obviously hasn't caught on anywhere and seems to have been a numbers-game or cap casualty so far in his career. Huge extension signed for the Boatmen. I was 100% sure we were losing him this off season. TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today they have extended the contract of Defensive Coordinator Corey Mace. Mace, in his second season coaching the Argos defence, has led a unit that leads the CFL in sacks (54), interceptions (22),turnovers (42), opponent big plays (20, seven better than second place), opponent rush yards (79.6), is second in offensive points allowed (20.2) and opponents yards/play (5.98) while ranking third in offensive touchdowns allowed (31). The British Columbia native joined the Boatmen at the start of 2022, saw three of his players become Division All-Stars, and was integral in helping the Argonauts capture their 18th Grey Cup championship in November. Read it, and Hogans article on it here: https://www.argonauts.ca/2023/10/13/double-blue-extend-contract-of-defensive-coordinator-corey-mace/
  21. Having the 150th birthday party, having all of the legends come home to celebrate, having the decade by decade recaps on the screen, having it be in a game with no stakes or tension so we could just enjoy the fun, having it happen when we are Champions and have a real shot at doing it again... Sincere wish: I hope you guys can feel this in 2030 for your 100th. It was special. Side note: went down to a county fair near Lake Erie today with my SO as it's her family Thanksgiving tradition. It is definitely TiCat country down there and I was wearing a bright Cambridge blue Argo hoodie to represent. No TiCat fans said a thing to me, and there were quite a few out. But do you know who did chirp at me? A Sask fan in a Rider hockey jersey (that looked like it was bought on Wish...) who made it a point to step in front of me and inform me of how the Argos suck. I asked if he'd like to trade records or Grey Cup totals with us. He made a face like he was attempting to mentally do really hard differential calculus.
