You could rightly say they're overpriced... but bad? Nah. (everything else was fair though... except the part about wishing they lived in Hamilton... nobody wishes that, most of all the poor benighted souls who do live there) Sure... but I'm at work on a Friday before a long weekend. I've given all of my employees their assignments and busy-work for the day... So my brain is in Friday Night Football mode (and dreading the commute down to BMO). -

Can't bring me down today! Especially since I'm wearing my lucky Map Of Toronto Argo Shirt! -

I appreciate it! Fun fact: The Toronto Argonauts were founded 8 years prior to the gunfight at the OK Corral! -

Friday Night Football! LFG! Argos 150th birthday party on a rainy night at the lake. Coming home to celebrate are: Condredge Holloway, Damon Allen, Ricky Ray, Pinball, Rocket, Mookie and Terry Freakin Greer! And the Flyin' Hawaiian will sign a 1-day deal to retire an Argonaut! Youse guys have fun on the West Coast tonight! Hopefully I'm home in time to catch the ending. Wooooooo! -
BC is tough at home. We'll see whether Vernon shows up or not. To me, his play (or the Bombers disrupting it) will be the decisive factor. "Hey Vern, you in there?"

For the lads, at least.

It had to have informed his decision process. Had to. I'd bet that losing that game in 2007 in part, made Dinwiddie the man that he is. Last Friday won't be the last game he gives to the backups this season. (Won't be doing it this Friday at home though because of the celebration) -
I agree. That's likely why the Argos didn't play "to not stop the run". I feel like the difference between "not scheming to stop a specific threat" and "totally abdicating defensive responsibility" ought to be an easy distinction for most people to get? (and an obvious one for anyone who watched on Friday)

Which is likely why nobody suggested it.

Do we know if Twisted Tea has the contract to be the HT sponsor for next year? I'm inclined to hope they do. Seems like after last year's dud, they knew that they needed to step up. -
Ya say this but... You've now put yourself in the spot where a "fragile" team may possibly go back to back on you. You really shouldn't let your mouth write that cheque.

I thought Kravitz was the best GC HT I've seen, Came out. Turned it up to 11. Kicked ass. Walked off with a wave. As for getting Green Day (having already got Carrie Underwood for Friday), this is a pretty big time lineup. Twisted Tea really upgraded this year. -
It basically looked like they played it "straight up".

Not at all. They were trying, and Brinkman looked properly worn out in the 4th. But if you can look back at the game and see any run blitzes or the schemes we usually have, then your eyes are better than mine.

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

FWIW, Lawler faced Qwan'tez Stiggers on Friday and the youngster did very well against him. Held him to 3 grabs and got a pick on him. Stiggers had never played Boundary before. He is 21, never played college ball. Never saw the CFL before training camp. Not a chance we get to keep this kid next year. -
Doubt that caught anyone off guard. He was known for it in college, etc.
-
Do you even into english much?

Didn't read the post, obviously (and as usual). I suggested that coach Hall did in fact do that.

This is sort of continuing the discussion from the Bombers' season thread, but I thought that discussion of the Argos roster this past Friday and the reasoning and strategy behind it was more germane here. I know that most of us would've rather seen a competitive game instead of having the Argos treat Friday like a Preseason (and make no mistake, they did) but consider it from our side and you quickly realize why we'd do this on the road, late in the season and against a team we may see again. The Argos 6-game has: Daniel, Amos, Muamba, Gittens, Haggerty, Carnell, Bladek and Johnson Our 1 game list had: Oakman, Peters, McManis, Cage, Phillips and Richards That's 9 nailed-on starters (and 2 others who although they're starting calibre, we likely won't see them). And maybe as many as a dozen that could start and we (or anyone else) would be happy to have them. And they are mostly who are starters of All Star calibre and a few are those guys who have displayed that Big-Play Gene. And of course, the Big one: we sat The Chad and played 3 quarters of Dukes, a quarter of Scott and a final series of Dukes. Exactly like we did in the preseason against Hamilton. And we hid our playbooks. I didn't see a single play that I hadn't already watched this year. This is very atypical for us. Dinwidde and Mace roll out new things by the week. I didn't see a single blitz get disguised and I'm fairly sure we didn't do any of our run-blitzing (part of why Olivera ran so effectively on us all night). (as an aside: I feel better about our backup situation now. way to early to see if he has or will develop starter or even elite traits... but you guys played your defence close to your vest too... I had presumed that you would go after Dukes early and often to shake him up. Looked more like Hall was saving that for when it gets real and just daring the kid to make completions against you if he could) As for the Bombers, perhaps it's a case of playing down to the perceived level of an opponent (ie: they saw that it was a heavily rotated Argo team that didn't need a win) but they did not impress. Even Olivera. You can't fault anything he did because he can only play against what gets set in front of him, and he did it very well. But there was no scheme whatsoever in place for him. This was a one-off. Takeaway: we're leaving with a loss, but with a sense of confidence. Because if these two teams are fortunate enough to play each other again, the game will be very different. And on that day in November if they face the actual 2023 Argonauts, the Bombers will have to do much better than they did Friday night.

No. Their tour breaks between late October and February. I know, I know... Never been to a bad Maiden show. -
Nice win guys. I'm rarely content with a loss of any sort, but this one was always going to happen. Hope we can do this again in Hamilsmell.

I seem to remember a poster that would've also got one of those.

No argument. Corporate welfare (to a massively profitable corporation) is still just that: welfare.
