CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

You're only torn because you haven't yet allowed yourself to conceive of a possible scenario. If you had, you'd be all in for the Riders. We'll see if RD is going for it or not. -

So the Riders win or else they bow out in front of their own. Should be fun. -

CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

I agree with the bolded part. But the indifference itself is what has allowed the Argos to be shaped by Pinball with no interference, much to our benefit. It's a weird byproduct of MLSE apathy. On another note: was looking at the standings an schedules... Am I correct in saying that if our backups beat Saskatchewan this week and BC beats Calgary... does that set up a last weekend where Winnipeg will be playing it's equipment managers and waterboys against a Stampeder team who can win its way into the playoffs? Imagine the howls from the rectangle... -
CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Lots of my fellow Argo fans' favorite topic of discussion is slamming the Argos owners MLSE and their general indifference to the fact that they own the most historic and successful football club in North America. I see it a different way. Their indifference has allowed the man who is most passionate about our club to build and staff it entirely how he sees it. This has worked PDG. And (this is the big one) speaking for myself, I love this club. But I am not willing to lose a Million or two every year for the privilege of owning it. MLSE on the other hand displays what can only be described as general apathy towards the TAFC... but they don't seem to mind taking a few Milly as a loss. Could have something to do with one of their owners being a media company which is important to the CFL... could be because another of their owners is a media company which is locked in mortal combat with the other one. Frankly, I don't give a quantum of a damn. Just pleased to see the Scullers keep on Pulling Together. EDIT: In case it isn't clear why I went off on what may appear tangential to what was being discussed, it is because talking about the precise number of bums in seats at BMO which would constitute the break-even point is a red herring. -

+2.5k is a good result. Hopefully we can pull off the same trick next season. -
I hear ya. Spending more for a Saturday Leafs/Bruins game in December than I have all season for the Boatmen.

Not so much a desire for conformity, but it's been a recurring theme for me that I've been a late-adopter of new technology and then when I finally take the plunge and become familiar with it, I have a "Why didn't I do this a long time ago?" moment.

I hear ya. My business partner wears his to jog with so his earbuds can link to it and he doesn't have to carry his phone on a run. Not a problem for me. Not running anywhere. My knees and back survived decades of sports without an injury, there's no chance I'll be doing anything now to risk them as I enter my 50s (in two weeks).

Nothing-at-stake Saturday: Birds v Antlers, Rouge et Noir vs Boats
bluto replied to johnzo's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Dude was getting fubar'd last week and I was sitting there hoping that his coach would get the damn hook out already. I'll say this about Crum, he's game alright. One of those sacks, he actually got hit about 4 times on the play before he finally went down. -

Nope. No big deal. Honestly, we'll see in a few weeks if resting players and going vanilla hurts us. But it'll be interesting to see what comes of it since there are a few folks hereabouts who are on the record that you can't do it and that the Argos will be bounced on Remembrance Day. Time will tell. -

Wait... this is acceptable now? Someone was trying to impress upon me how foolish it was and how you can't turn it back on afterward... -
Curious if anyone else is in my situation with Smart Watches. I used to not be able to leave my house without strapping a wristwatch on. Had a nice little collection going. But as Smart Phones became ubiquitous, I broke myself of the habit since timepieces were made redundant by them and found that I enjoyed not wearing one. Especially not having to worry about damaging it in my workplace. But now with pretty much all of my friends and colleagues wearing their Apple Watches, FitBits, Pixel Watches, etc and selling me on the virtues of them, I'm starting to wonder if it's worth my time and expense to get one and learn its use?
