  1. Spread is Winnipeg -4.5, Over/Under is 48.0.
  2. Gotta be honest... I don't. We haven't had a single outing this year where I've come away feeling like we had our game dialed-in in all three phases. Luckily, we mostly played against teams with less talent than we have (ie: The East, Saskachuk and the Elks). But our lack of cohesion, or sloppiness and our downright baffling gameplans (and I don't even feel that they merit being called "gameplans") has got to catch up to us eventually... Maybe we win tomorrow because we're a squad made up of far better players than the Larks... But even if we do, we'll need all the Argo Bounces that we have coming to us for the next season or two to pull off an upset in the GC.
  3. I would like to take this opportunity to state unequivocally for the record: -The Alouettes suck. -Montreal sucks. -The Province of Quebec sucks. -Montreal Smoked meat and Poutine are okay but if we're being honest they're overated. Argos Rule #GodsOwnFootballClub
  4. Pretty sure if I swung a helmet at some dudes head I could get charged with attempted murder.
  5. At the tailgate. Lots of people pissed that we didn't go for 2. I am telling them that in all fairness, we oughtn't have been within 2 points. The Football Gods are cruel. Sometimes they are fair. See you next time.
  6. I thought it was their LNG that's keeping Europe warm. Remind me who is negotiating the Iran deal on the US's behalf?
  7. If I have a dog in this hunt, it is the prevention and cessation of needless human suffering. That's it. I understand this is an emotional topic for you and I will try to keep that in mind. If my posts are causing you grief or stress, sincerely, I apologize. Yes. I know what it means. That's why I used the metaphor. And your implication that it can only mean the threat of force is just wrong. I'm sure the West's condemnation of Putin really hurts his feelings while they still, all of them, buy his gas. At prices which all went up due to his incursion into Ukraine. Ouch. I didn't say that the West has nothing. Perhaps you read it wrong? I said they'll do nothing. Which they, in any real terms, are doing. F-All.
  8. That was unnecessary. But it really doesn't matter to me. I don't have a dog in this hunt. Russia is going to do whatever it will, the West will sabre-rattle and basically do nothing about it. That much is now obvious.
  9. Hate being a Debbie Downer, but this is the exact sort of "loss" I expect them to take. A smashed Ukraine military and their anti-Russia President deposed in favor of someone else, 2 new "republics" along with a Crimea that is full of Russian troops... and the poison pill that the West wasn't counting on: The Sino-Russian cooperation which will make their trade and banking sanctions irrelevant and lead to an undermining of the USD as the world's reserve currency. Nations like India (who I don't think have officially condemned Russia's actions?) with their huge economy and a pair of mid-size ones like Iran and Pakistan will be all watching this very closely. There's other pieces on the board here. And NATO/US/EU's unwillingness and inability to do a darn thing about Russia in Ukraine is the first big domino away from the Post Cold War Uni-Polar world toward the Multi-Polar world in which we now find ourselves.
  10. You don't see Russia "liberating" the Luhansk & Donetsk People's Republics and leaving behind a massive Russian force count in them and the Crimea, for "insurance", smashing Ukraine's military into dirt and them f'ing off home as a loss for Ukraine?
  11. There's more than one way to interpret the word "surrender". But surely, one is coming. When there is no forseeable Win-Condition for them, ultimately it is likely the way forward with the least amount of human suffering.
  12. I think that's a false binary. Other options are on the table after Ukraine surrenders.
  13. You reckon that they want to?
  14. My unpopular opinion: Any news that tries to tell you that Ukraine isn't being rolled up, and fast, is propaganda. Melitopol is about 161km from Crimea. Fell in 48hrs. Kherson is about 418km from Donetsk. Fell in 7 days.
  15. Frankly this entire pose the UN types took mystifies me. They're communicating that they aren't willing to listen to a single word that Russia has to say. Do they not imagine that Russia will have this in mind the next time they plan unilateral action? Do they imagine that there will be no further ones? If NATO/US/EU isn't going to do jack-**** about it (they won't), and they're already being sanctioned-worse-than-any-country-ever, why wouldn't they just go on as they mean to?
  16. So the Russian Generals and Commanders aren't stupid, it's just that a Dictator they must follow is? I'm not trying to tell anyone that they may be being lied to... but I have to ask: Is blowing up bridges, distributing weapons to civilians and releasing felons the actions of a Nation that is on the front foot here?
  17. And you imagine that you can learn this lesson, but the Russian Generals can't?
  18. Just seems to me that the bulk of what I read/hear from pundits, talking heads and commenters seem to be of the belief that Russian command didn't wargame every single one of these scenarios and have a gameplan move ready ahead of time. I just presume that they are way smarter and have access to way better data than we do and since they are the ones who took initiative, they get to calibrate their moves based on the responses by the opposition forces/economies/alliances/etc. People are acting as if a complete rollover of Ukraine in a couple of days isn't a shocking victory. Most of us are old enough to remember how the US ran over Iraq to the outskirts of Baghdad in 2 weeks and how stunned the world was... well that was after the US "Shock and Awe" phase of bombing, rockets and artillery. Russia didn't even require that to completely roll-up Ukraine (despite it's zillions of dollars worth of weaponry the West has been giving it for years).
  19. Yes. Something very much like that. Crimea and Donbass will be absorbed into Russia. Putin will install a Pro-Moscow President after Zelensky "disappears". The remainder of Ukraine will be... "independent" and disarmed.
  20. My unpopular opinion: -Russia has withheld the strongest of its military might on the chance that NATO/US/EU/Somebody joins in on Ukraine's side and needs to be dealt with -Russia has not invaded full scale regardless of what the press keeps telling me -Nobody is serious about dealing with Putin/Russia so long as they keep buying Russian fuel -As fuel prices soar, Putin/Russia literally grow richer as a result of this incursion -Sanctions will do SFA other than strengthen Sino-Russian cooperation -A serious attempt to militarily defend Ukraine by any other state would necessarily involve defence/counterattacks/attacks on the Russian military and therefore: is an invitation for Russia to attack the country who attacks their forces. -******* nobody is going to do that -therefore: negotiated surrender and acceding to Russian terms is the only outcome. I don't like it. But I can't see it another way. Saving the Ukrainian people's lives is my most favored outcome at this point and I can't see this go any "better" way for them.
