Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
bluto replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Actually, under certain circumstances, I think that physical and verbal abuse are the way to go... ...just never on a ref during a game. -
Interesting. The bookies all seem to have it as -3 Winnipeg. Making the home team a favourite by a field goal at home is sorta the same as saying it's a dead heat to them. I'm taking the points!

Would be saying this even if he weren't a TiCat: Get this punk out of my league. Touch an official like that? 1 strike and you're out. -

I didn't take his example to mean that we(the Boatmen) are by any means a consistent team (yet). I took it to mean that the coaching job of switching a godawful team (us, 2nd 2/3rds last season) to a competent one that can compete (us, so far) is simpler than taking a team that looks different every week and addressing the different issues that pop up.

FTFY no... I'm not quite planning the parade route yet...

Sometimes a quick read is better.

I just like how that summary ends... "Bye Hamilton"

After all of those years of watching SJ Green do that to us with literally no ability to stop it, holy crap is it nice to do that back to someone else. Going into this game I had exactly zero idea of what I was going to see. Could've literally been anything and I wouldn't have been surprised. But of all of the possible outcomes, I'd have rated "go out there and win all phases of the game and look stylish on the way to a lopsided win" as the least likely. To be sure: Hamilton was a mess. Could've been a week 1 thing... could've been that they didn't get the team built in the offseason and have deficiencies ... could've been that the Argos are a cut above and make them look bad (wouldn't have considered that a possibility before yesterday, but it's up for discussion now). Better competition on Friday. We'll see how she goes.

Not that 2 wrongs make a right... But let's remember that Foley has twice renegged on agreements to sign with teams and ditched them without notice. On the practical side, I'm ok with this. We're better off with his money spent on a full time player 10 years younger. Chamblin was his coach in Sask... If he didn't want him, then there's no reason not to cut him now. Still early, if he's in shape, he'll find a spot somewhere. Thanks for the memories, Ricky. -

It's good, KBF. Hope things are good out Okanagan way. Even though his induction was never in doubt, it's still very nice to see. -

On one hand I was sure that Copeland had damned us to another year of purgatory by waiting so long to pull the trigger. But on the other I had hoped that Trestman's name would be enough to make some quality personnel believe in the project. So far it looks not so bad. Popp's turn to come good now. -

Hoping that this may be the end of Copeland. He made several tries to get Trestman and was rebuffed and so Tannenbaum goes around him to get Popp who closes the Trestman deal. Meanwhile, Milo and Barks were twisting in the wind and knew it was all happening. -

Thanks. Copeland really pooched our offseason the way he handled it though. Difficult to be optimistic when we've been handicapped by the poor timing of this all, but I'll try to remember that Trestman is an excellent coach, Popp had a knack for conjuring good players out of thin air for an extended period of time and that we started 4-2 last season before the team just checked out completely, so perhaps there's more talent than our record showed (there has to be)... presuming enough of it shows up in camp. Either way, our biggest challenge remains convincing people to trek into the city for games. Marketing is pretty much non-existent. Schedule is good though. Likely plenty of empty seats again... -

Difficult to say... they'd have to be just the right sort of crazy mixed in with a slight masochistic streak. -

All it would take is an agent-provocateur or two... -
Bombers Trade Willy for DB TJ Heath, Acquire Kevin Glenn
bluto replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Heath has been a standout. Great find. He will be terrific and I'm glad his play has been of such a level to allow us to address a QB shortage. He's a playmaker, enjoy him. Having Willy play with Milo/Brady/Ray shepherding him could yield big dividends. Too soon to say he's the Argo's QB of the future, but you couldn't bet against him maturing under Milanovich. -
An an example of what you could face getting into the CBD on a normal night, a colleague just told me about his trip to the Jays' game last night. There were minor accidents on the lakeshore and Gardiner. This in addition to the usual trip down the dvp during evening rush and not being able to get close enough to the dome in time to reliably find parking (which you pay extortionate prices for) he and his 7 year old parked just past St Lawrence market and walked 3.3 urban, rush hour kilometres in 40 degree heat, shoulder to shoulder through a crowd going in all directions. Going home wasn't so bad other than carrying his kid back to the car. Now tomorrow, all of that is still in play with the addition of weekend getaway rush hour, a big concert, an additional sporting event plus a possible T-storm. If it's a crowd measured in dozens, I won't be surprised. Mancaves are just easier.

Glad to hear you hung in there for that game. I'll keep an eye out for you. My name's on my jersey.

Small town mindset. Come sit in our traffuck before and after the game with all of those conditions... I doubt you'd be so cavalier about it.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier...Looks like we may be in for shite weather Friday night. But even if not, sitting on the West side or South end zone will be best because the East side gets treated to a pretty brutal sun glare for the first half. Hopefully weather cooperates, because if weekend traffic combines with rain, a big concert and a Jays game... we're all boned.

Ms Saskatchewan looks like she'd get along fine with Mister Hamilton:

Looking forward to the crowd chanting along with Kardy "Tee Dot Ohh!"
