  1. Unless of course Ray returns from injury to lead the Argos on a playoff run culminating in a win on Nov. 29th... But yeah, difficult to see another team's needs not necessitating a big contract offer to a Free Agent Ray at an amount that the Argos just won't pay (seeing as they can have Harris as a starter for far less. First World QB problems really.
  2. yes. you don't lose your job to an injury. especially if you are arguably the best passer the league has ever had. now you could make the argument that he didn't lose it to injury as Harris won it out of camp while Ray was still rehabbing... How many years does Harris have left on his contract? He extended last year. So i'd guess he has this year and next. He's made himself a lot of money with his recent play. Big raise coming his way.

  4. Rider clock management was shite and gave us the chance we needed. Not looking forward to playing them again in August, they're as dirty a team as i've seen in years. Our D wasn't working because we couldn't get pressure on Glenn. then in the Red Zone, it was sturdy because Glenn had less time and choked as per usual. Harris has a future in Double Blue for sure.
  5. ...a poster creating threads with clickbait titles.
  6. it remains a favourite for us... what year are we into? 14? 15?
  7. Grey Cup preview Baby!!! no.
  8. all i'm saying for now (since this is just about finally at an end) is that: i) i've watched several groups who have kept a facade of friendly partnership all the while hating and wishing destruction upon each other. can't be understated: they'd gladly watch each other die of a thousand knife wounds and they all know this and feel the same way... but all must work "together" for the stated common goal even though each had a different endgame. ii) the histrionics and drama that some CFL posters go into about certain people in particular and organizations in general are often derided as hysterical exaggerations. i can't stress enough how well founded some of these scenarios (and using your imagination in this situation, it won't be that difficult to suss out what i'm saying) are. in fact, it isn't unfair to say that the worst case scenario for some of us was the best case scenario for some of them. further: that worst case scenario could have brought about a bigger win for them that some viewed as necessary for long term objectives to be realized. iii) it became increasingly clear as last season wore on, that a deal which was all but signed off on was not given the final okay to proceed by a certain party to draw out and weaken the possibility of a deal being reached at all. the team, the league and an interested buyer were strung along for almost a year... which nearly scuppered the chance at any deal at all (other than Braley eventually giving the team back to the league) iv) the stadium poiticking was shameless and barely even veiled attempts to keep the CFL from having a home in the GTA. in a weird twist, the team's biggest ally here turned out to be apathy... as in, the powers that be didn't want to be bothered with a stadium funding debate to such an extent that no political will on the side of "soccer specific" could overcome it. in the weeks and months ahead a lot of this will surface... but suffice to say: there are malevolent forces that pose an existential threat to the Argos and to the CFL. and for the Nth time in their storied history, the Argonauts have avoided extinction... and by virtue of that, the league did as well (trust me, the league was/is in the crosshairs too).
  9. one of these days i'll be able to talk about this bullshit... the handcuffs are coming off soon, but there's lots that i can't put out publicly.
  10. when you add the yellow (although still silly looking... and this coming from a guy who really likes digital camo) at least it is obviously a WBBFC jersey. sad that someone with photochop and 5 minutes can so easily one-up Reebok.
  11. Reebok made my team 2 new jerseys this season and i hate them both... and just to **** me off they go and give one to another team... ...i responded by buying one of the few remaining 2013 3rd jerseys in the store at the dome this past Sunday night. it was perfect...
  12. Re The helmet: i can fully understand why you'd want to pinch our colours, but srsly, get your own pls.
  13. Yup. Only holding on one side. Because I never saw blatant holding by overmatched Bomber linemen or on kick return. Have a word with yourself, Dave.
  14. Certainly the preparation time for the Argos and the relative lack of it for the Bombers played a big factor. Willy was under pressure all night and that makes two weeks in a row for that... One game does not a trend make, but it can be an indicator: the Burke defence was getting to the QB and the defenders were flying to the ball. Long may that continue. Main 2 reciever go-to-guys were out: No Owens. No Durie. Main two TD-threat-guys were out: No Chiles. No Barnes. No problem... Ricky spreads the ball to ten other guys. Thank Flutie that Tillman accepted our bag of magic beans for that guy...
  15. In the early going, the refs killed us and the Bombers capitalized. The refs made a call or two in our favour later on. You couldn't on the whole think that it went mostly against the Bombers though, could you? Shocking.
  16. No. No. Holy F'ing S, no. The numbers even appeared to be shiny. We have two of the best looking uniforms in world sports... why Reebok would do this to us is just baffling and infuriating. At least we're not likely to wear them much (based on how little we've worn "3rd" jerseys in recent seasons). And if this is what Reebok did to us... and we have a cool, sharp logo and nice colour scheme... i'd be very nervous if I were some other teams' fans.
  17. just got home... game is 3 plays old... not sure if i can have Coombs or not... if not, i'll take Anthony Parker.
  18. i've a bad feeling about this game against the Horseys that i can't shake. something about a team with talent as deep as theirs that is coached by Huf, **** and Stubes is just daunting. edit... i guess i shouldn't have abbreviated "Dickenson"
  19. as much as i'd hate it, i could see him in Hamilsmell if the TiCats flounder and Austin goes. Except he is still under contract here. Best case scenario, is he continues on the same trajectory he has started on, brings Winnipeg its first Grey Cup in 20+ years, is given the keys to the city, streets named after him and hailed as a football god here. As O'Shea bonds to the city, the players, and what he is building here, he doesn't strike me as the type to just leave that to go home unless something goes horribly wrong. Worst case scenario is he flames out and gets uncerimoniously fired. I don't think this is the direction we are trending. With the current head office the Bombers have, I would bet on Austin being fired before O'Shea. he and his wife and all of their roots are from here. he'll be back.

  21. this story doesn't surprise me even a little. i tried to explain to the few Bomber fans that didn't want O'Shea (or preferred another guy) what they were getting... what KBF said is pretty much bang on: it's an obsessive drive to win. win every drill, win every practice, win every meeting, win every play, win every quarter, win every game, etc, etc... and when you combine that with a deep understanding of the CFL game (as evidenced by his gadget plays which are often exploits of our rules), unshakeable confidence, and his general positive outlook he just had winner written all over him. i've told this tidbit a few times but to me it is the ultimate encapsulation of what Osh is: he once stated that he had been a player for 15 years and had won 3 Grey Cups... that means that he had failed 12 times out of 15. most outstanding rookie... 4 all-star nods... 2nd in all time tackles... doesn't matter. no Grey Cup = failure. and yeah, part of wanting him to succeed is selfishness so that when some NFL team swoops in and takes Milanovich and Barker retires, the two southern Ontario boys stuck in Manitoba can come home.
  22. Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooombs
  23. Tom Brady told a story about how Bishop threw 90 yards from his knees at a Patriots practice while the team cheered him on and took bets on the distance and Brady was like "I'm behind this guy on the depth chart? dang I'm never going to play..."
