FWIW, at the end of the season, Cohon said that 7 teams made money. -
Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
bluto replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Guys make $45,000 a year & you want to break them? That's utterly ridiculous. Why not just find another league to follow? If Cohon's figures are in fact true in his release, the league average is just shy of $93,000. That's plenty. yeah... but there's an Apex Fallacy at work here... for every Ray, Burris, Lulay or Durant making $350k or more, that means there's likely 8 or more guys making the minimum so you can afford them. -

this is good progress, imo. the deal is there to be had for the players if they're willing to step off of revenue sharing as their hill-to-die-on. that's the move here: ok League, we the players will reluctantly agree to accept a deal without revenue sharing provided you amend your deal to the following amounts... -the proposed SMS cap raise is 12% (not 9%) and it raises $60k/year (not $50k), -increase the minimum salary immediately to $55k (not $50k) which will be $60k at the end of the deal (not$55k). -raising the practice roster weekly pay from $750 to $900 once both sides agree that the amount is going up, the rest is just haggling. the owners made a reasonable offer that is just this side of generous... it's up to the players to get some extra value in the offer and get it signed. -
Important notice regarding the future of MBB.com
bluto replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
it took less than a few months to turn this into one of the best online communities in all of the CFL's fandom. remarkable stuff. atta'boy's to the MBB team and all contributing members. -
wouldn't shock me actually. would depend on Burke's views on him. he'd be behind other NIs Black and Gabriel but at a reduced contract (which he could afford to accept since this is where his family lives) he might be a good depth guy and a further incentive for his brother to sign here after he's done with Indy/NFL.

and i think that denying a kid the occasional pogo or jos louis is verging on child abuse.

as far as i know, they don't have then east of Manitoba... watching an Als/Cats game when the in-game winner is from Red Deer for the 200th time is maddening.

upgraded my Commodore 64 to an Amiga 500. get on my level. but srsly, this regional crap has to stop. TSN Go blocking out certain providers/ Safeway being the game contest sponsor/ Regina hosting a GC... this smalltime BS has to stop. it hurts the league.

could give him number 37?

if nothing else, it'll be nice to see DEs rushing the QB again... i like Jones, but his unorthodox-i'm-so-innovative ways were head scratchers at times. we still have Owens on our ST, and Milanovich runs a very tight ship so i'm not concerned over Daley's hire (puzzling though it was). uh, thanks... i think... it was more to do with my supreme faith in Osh. the man is a winner. and even if you guys get taken to the woodshed a time or two, don't lose heart because MO'S is taking the loss >9000 times worse than you are and will never be afraid to change things to try and find a better way forward. i think Burke is a top DC too and he and Milanovich had some very good times together before but like i said, it isn't just that our D is being reshaped but that it is also being rebuilt (again). losing guys like Mitchell, Ball and Watkins after a year previous losing guys like Armstead, McCulloch, Horne, Caroll... i just start getting an anxiety that we're asking Barks to reach into his bag of tricks too many times.

appreciate the vote of confidence (from TBurgess and MOAB), but this is the third consecutive year that we're going into TC with a complete revamp to our defence (and this time it'll be Burke and not Jones who oversees it). that's a few seasons in a row have we watched top calibre players leave... not to say i don't think Barker will find others (especially since players and agents who want to use the CFL as a possible bridge to a shot down south know that Barker has a track record of playing ball) but this time he doesn't have Jones as his wingman, he has his newly promoted understudies. Ray will still run a potent offence with a solid line and it will be brilliant (but fragile! Ray, Owens, Durie and Kack have all missed a lot of games)... but Hamilton and Montreal both look like they're starting with at least as many pieces in place as we have. we're a playoff team... but i wouldn't go any further than that. as for your Bombers: expect them to compete. expect violence. expect growing pains with Willy and second guessing when Collaros has a good game every now and then. i wouldn't want to put a number on it yet and i certainly can't see the playoffs as a lock, but i can't see why you wouldn't be in the mix for a spot when there's so much uncertainty across almost every team right now.

[MOVED] Lyle Bauer back in Manitoba - Politics, not football

well, i would have highlighted his flip flopping and duplicity by saying that he talked out of both sides of his mouth... but y'know... -

Absolutely. 100% agree. The Liberals knew they were screwed and saw one chance to take down the Cons and steal back power. Thank God for Harper and his courage to pro-rogue government knowing the looney left would criticise him for what was absolutely in the best interests of the country. Imagine a left wing coalition governing Canada during the recession? YIKES! the sad thing is that they did end up running us anyway (after a fashion). Flaherty/Harper proposed a sensible budget of austerity and immediately started getting the no-confidence threats from the loons across the aisle (because, as you know, conservative people hate poor people and children and the elderly and enfeebled and don't even get me started on how we loathe minorities, gays and are at war on women)... ...the Dipper/Lieberal/Boqhead coalition force a "stimulus" budget which ends up in porkbarrelling all over the country and helps virtually none of the downtrodden that the left claim to be the champions of... ...fast forward not even a frickin year and the left are already using the budget deficit created by the very "stimulus" that they crammed down our throats as exhibit A in why the conservatives can't run an economy. all politicians get corrupt and crooked eventually... Acton's dictum tells us that much. but those of a lefty-bleeding-heart bent are no better than children to me and ought to just step aside while the adults manage the store. -

i'll remember this sensitivity next time i see the media jump all over Ford for being a big fatso (he is... but he'd never get called that if he weren't a white, male, conservative... because that would be "fat-shaming" then) -

going to presume that was from the post above yours (which i can't see). typical of the left though, as you say. -

sidemouth only prorogued the one time because he was in a majority position for many years... PM Harper was not in so cushy a spot. he had a power hungry failure from Ontario provincial politics (who had done the exact same thing in an Ont minority to disasterous effect!) conspiring with separatists to usurp power... ...and this was such an unpopular move by the PM (and the GG) that they went ahead and renewed their confidence in his gov't in successive elections... ...but let's not let small things like this get in the way of the left and their media water-carriers hate-on for anything or anybody who exposes their BS. -
