  1. Only if you're in some kind of bizzaro world. They have one starting quality NI in Shologan. Almost all of their OL are damaged goods or failed prospects, a couple are still prospects. Hage and Eppele would stroll into the Bomber O-Line.
  2. Eppele stings. but we couldn't protect all of Holmes, Van Zeyl, Keeping and Eppele... (and we have Wayne Smith and Kyle Koch for depth and Matt Sewell whenever he's done his MBA so coach McAdoo has plenty to work with). Eppele's an excellent add for them on what has to already be considered a fair O-Line in terms of talent. Still think that he'll want to go west someday... Jon Williams was a very good and unheralded player for us, but we have depth at DT/DE and will likely be adding there in camp anyway. i could see Williams being a mainstay in the league as well. Pottsie hurts because he's a character guy and a leader... but we have Yurichuk and Tonye-Tonye who are younger and less injured. (hopefully one of these two will end up being a backup to Greenwood... but his future is murky right now) we were always going to lose 3 good players. i was mentally prepared for it. hopefully our draft success continues and we continue to have games where we start 8 or 9 NIs.
  3. right? cry me a river...
  4. i can't see Walters making a move like this (Kohlert) without having a solid reason for it. KW strikes me as too focused and detail oriented to have not already had discussions with Kohlert and his representatives. will give him the benefit of the doubt on this and presume that in the coming weeks i'll read about Walters already having been told that Kohlert wanted out of Winnipeg.
  5. Hage, Pottinger and Fraser... REDBLACKS fans have to like that they're getting established CFL'ers unlike the last time they did this.
  6. see now you see the true genius of Joe Mack - he knew all along how painful it would be to lose a good NI and so ensured that we had none that anyone would want. Brilliant! chess-master! thinking that far ahead into the future to plan being this shallow of talent... brilliant! (i'm thinking that we'll be losing one of Tonye-Tonye or Bradwell...)
  7. ready to lose another good NI...
  8. Mack did not ignore the draft. You may not agree with some of the choices he made but his record with the draft is as good as any other GM during the time he was here. says you Says a lot of people. still an apologist... ignored.

  10. Q: How bad did Crowton's offence screw your team? A: Bad. A good coordinator can scheme to paper-over some of the roster shortcomings that a team may have (and you had several major deficiencies on the offence alone). Crowton seemed to be oblivious to this and ran a system that tried to play to strengths which you didn't have. Any of you guys would have built your offence off of a ground attack and had checkdown options on everything to compensate for a line that didn't do pass-protection all that well, right? Of course you would've. So would've any OC worth the powder to blow himself up with. Not Crowton... And Burke's inability to recognize and overrule this as the HC was his greatest failing (and he had several) in that role. Q: Were we truly as bad as our record? A: Sorry, yes. That team was full value for a 3 win season. Worst QB situation. Worst NIs. An O-Line and defensive secondary that just weren't up to snuff. If Walters could've hit the cosmic reset button and traded rosters with any other team at the end of the season, he would've. So with coaching and roster-talent both being suspect (to be kind), it can only get better. And i believe it will. O'Shea will have them playing their best (or even a little better than their best... the whole-being-greater-than-the-sum-of-the-parts type thing). As well, Walters gives every indication of a guy who knows that he has to build through: i) scouting US free agents ii) the draft iii) trades iV) free agency ... not just option "i" like your last guy
  11. Barker on the expansion draft. (also a small bit about Goveia in there and Barker's plan to replace him and Jones) http://www.argonauts.ca/video/index/id/93841
  12. can't disagree with that. (don't know Miles or Griggs much though) seeing those 6 names as the protected NIs shows how dire the last 2 GMs have allowed the NI personnel situation to become. Walters/Goveia/McManus et al have a lot of work to do.
  13. prediction: i will hate the REDBLACKS to the point of being physically ill after they draft one of our O-Linemen. wish we could've dealt one before it came to this.
  14. Even if it means we suck for years after? what... like, 23 of them? there's winning the Grey Cup... and there's failing. nearly doesn't count.
  15. was okay. but with him it always comes down to the fact that he isn't a game-winner. less likely to blow one than Burris has been, but way less likely to elevate his play and win one. Glenn gets into 3rd gear and never upshifts.
  16. "punishing you for short **** over the middle" doesn't sound like the hallmark of a Stubler D to me. like i said, our great Stubler Ds that we had (and they were perhaps the best i've ever seen. ever) were the sort that were in the middle of the league for yardage allowed but first (by a fair margin) in points against... also were able to count on a defensive TD every other game. it was sick how much our weak offence could skate by because our D and ST would always chip in a bonus TD for them. the forums back then were funny because some teams' fans wanted to keep our offence on the field when they were ahead against us... because our offence was less likely to score a TD than our D was.
  17. the point has already been made, but the simple truth is that Burris in his current form is still the better than any QB the WBB have had since 2002 (Khari wasn't all that in 2003)
  18. awful, ain't it?
  19. i won't argue for the atmosphere in that place. it just eats sound. it's frustrating when you participate in creating noise in your section loud enough to make women and children cover their ears when you know that on the field and on TV it barely registers. however, the two years in which he made the statement, the Argos outdrew the Bombers by 2,700 and 3,300 respectively. so screw him.
  20. who would ever sign for a team nicknamed the "Seamen"???
  21. i'd agree with that... ...if the CFL had a salary cap. however, it does not.
  22. gutted may be a bit strong of a word. losing Jones in exchange for Burke is a bit of a saw-off, imo. both good DCs and while totally different in personality and defensive style, we can reasonably expect a high level of coaching on our D. he was the guy that Milo wanted... in fact he was the only one considered... so i have to trust that a Barker/Milo/Burke lead team will be a good one. losing Goveia and Jones hurts our player personnel department... but we've had a string of good drafts in a row and currently are well stocked with futures. as well, we had lots of managers/scouts/assitants/coaches in our PP Dept... we may have actually been overstaffed there tbqh. still... i'd rather have more good men there than less. now... if Jones does what he always does and comes in after guys like Marcus Ball... then i've got to start being concerned... (pretty sure he'll get McCune)
  23. nope... it was this guy:
  24. Overspending isn't cheating? Maybe in your world. it isn't cheating since it isn't overspending. it is completely allowable within the rules that a team spends more than the SMS maximum... they just have to be willing to accept the punishment of forfeiting draft picks if they do it. said this last time they won a GC (also by exceeding the SMS... funny that's the only way they've managed to win lately...) but here is the Truth According to bluto: if ever a team is close to winning a GC and they need another player of two to cover a personnel hole (because of injuries or whatever) and they fail to do so because they aren't willing to exceed the SMS... then that team is managed by a loser who i would never want in charge of my team.
  25. i doubt that you will. so far i agree with literally everything the WBB have done this off season and all i can do is hope that you guys screw it all up by taking Khari.
